Hello everyone.
On Tuesday I had a haircut at a salon I had never been to before. I went there because it was local and they had an appointment which was lucky for me because it a last minute urgent hair cut for a cremeony the next day. I bleached my hair almost two years ago and although I am growing my hair, I'm slowly trimming the damage out to look presentable.
Anyway, I just wanted a basic trim. The guy cutting my hair did not section it off properly and this worried me because I notice proper hair dressers actually section the hair horizontally and begin cutting from the back of the head. The guy cutting my hair literally just picked up secitons and snipped! Needless to say my hair is uneven. My mum said I should complain and get them to do it again but they were rude when I went in, I don't want to be treated like dirt when going back for a correction.
Anyone have experience with this? :(
Eta: I had a wet cut because I have curls and don't blow dry my hair. So I didn't know it was uneven upon leaving the salon. Part of me thinks that this is why the guy didn't bother cutting properly - because any mistakes wouldn't be overly obvious in my hair.

Definitely complain!!! Go back and ask to speak to the owner. Have someone else fix it, or a different stylist. Good luck!

Sectioning horizontally and neat straight lines is a straight hair cut, random snipping sounds more like a curly cut but I have never heard of it being done on wet hair only damp or dry. You should complain if it looks uneven, ask to speak to the salon manager or owner.

The good thing about curly hair is that it hides the worst of haircut sins. Just wash it a few times and see if it doesn't start bouncing up more evenly, or change your style a bit.
I have a straighter piece of hair on the right side of the back of my hair that hangs down at times about 3 inches longer than the rest, then at other times it curls up nicely and hides itself again. When it is misbehaving and hanging down, I hide a hair clip on the underside of my hair to keep it up in place. But then again, this same silly lock of hair, can really bother me. Then I just snip it off and forget about it until it grows again and starts hanging limply again.

Thanks for the replies everyone!
Kaelee, I love to go back and complain but I'm worried they will be rude and I would have to endure some kind of hostile environment during the corrective cut. I don't think confrontation is really for me! Do salons usually do corrections for free?
Firefox7275, I don't think this was any attempt at a curly cut, I genuinely believe it was a "I can't be bothered" job because I was out of the salon within ten minutes! He didn't check and compare the length of my hair like other hairdressers have done in the past and genuinely did not seem bothered... I can't believe I was stupid enough to hand over my money.
Kitschy, yeah you're right, curly hair can hide haircut sins really well indeed! Regardless, I don't think what he did was acceptable but I will wash it a few times and see by the end of the week.

I'd complain and make another hair dresser fix it.

I don't think you should get a corrective cut in a place that doesn't make you feel comfortable. But it doesn't mean you can't go complain for the poor job they did.

Write a letter to the owner of the salon and put everything in it including your reluctance to go in because they were rude. Then see what response you get.
If they offer to put it right with a corrective cut, then reiterate your concerns that they could not/did not cut it properly in the first place, that you have no confidence in them getting it right next time and state that you want them to pay for a cut elsewhere.
Just my advice FWIW.

No need to get the corrective cut done there, but a refund, or them paying for a cut elsewhere to fix it would be what I'd be after. I am sorry you experienced this, must be horrid :(

I'd go in and ask for a refund, as my old dad used to say "if you don't ask you don't get" - I have no idea what Swedish consumer law is like, but in the UK you'd be within your rights (I think, I'm not a lawyer) to ask for one.

I agree with others who said to complain to the owner. Maybe take someone with you for support(like your mom, dad, sibling, friend, etc.).
Also, I'm not sure if there's something like 'Yelp' there where you can leave an online review of the place. But if there is, I'd make a review about your experience and even email it to the owner. They should know how the hairdresser behaved and that he did a bad job. Others who may consider going to that salon should also be forewarned just in case they get the same hack job you did.
Good luck. :flower:

If that is your normal curl texture, it should be cut dry with minimal to no tension. No doubt that amount of curl formation is going to be a challenge, but particularly so if cut wet with any amount of tension. How hair is sectioned is dependent on the stylists schooling. I section all three ways to get the look weight reduction my guest prefers.
I would ask for a refund but not waste time and energy on it. I definitely would not go back for a corrective cut. The junior stylists will not be better than the manager or owner. I would chalk it up to lessons learned and apologize profusely to your stylist for cheating on him/her.

LOTS of people don't know how to cut curly hair and very few people are willing to admit it.
If you don't like confrontation, then call and ask to speak to the manager. But if you really want something done about it, you have to ask. No one is going to just magically apologize for doing something wrong.
And there is no reason a curly can't get a wet cut. I actually prefer mine cut wet because the curl pattern changes every day and if someone gave me a dry cut, it could turn out to be a disaster the next day. A wet cut makes curly hair manageable enough for any experienced stylist to make sure the cut is even and appropriately layered. So, if they truly are comfortable with curly hair, there is no excuse for uneveness in your final cut if you didn't specially ask for that.
I'm sorry this happened to you. I've been in your shoes and it sucks because it takes forever to grow out. Just learn from it all I guess and be like the rest of us who are EXTREMELY wary of new hairdressers! lol. Hugs chica. Hair grows back and that's the best part of it all.
