1b seems (about) right and if I scrunch I can get some nice waves. Any opinions/help please? Sorry in advance for the big pics!

I washed with vo5 shampoo and didn't touch at all afterwards.

(if this is an inappropriate place to post, please feel free to move it!)

And this is after scrunching with light gel:

Artemishunt, for some reason I can't see your pics.

I'd say 1c, too, because I don't really see any waves without scrunching. If there's wave, then I'd say 2a. If those scrunched waves hold up for you throughout the day, it's a very pretty look for you!

1c also. I'd be interested to see if you hair waves like the second pic with a more moisturizing routine...

I'd say 2a/2b. There's visible S waves in the first picture peeking out through your canopy. The canopy looks 1c, but it's pretty obviously not typical for your hair. That's also tons more volume and visible wave than I ever have without going full on Curly Girl method.

It might be worth trying curl friendly techniques to see whether that enhances your wave or not. For me going curl friendly takes my hair possibly having a hint of wave or two to having barely visible S waves, so I type myself as 1c.

Thank you so much for the quick replies! I'll go try and more curl friendly method ASAP. Thanks again!!!

Artemishunt, nto sure what was going on before, but I can see your pictures now and your hair is beautiful. I think given that the first picture shows your hair being straight but the second picture has some waves is an indication that your hair is bordering on being wavy (1c/2a) and that it may become fully wavy if you use some techniques from curl friendly method.

I'd say you're definitely a 1c at least. Your ends are like pretty much all borderline-wavy people's hair when it's either too short to wave properly, or when it's got moisture issues.

I'd say to try the conditioner-only method or oiling your hair to keep your hair more moisturized.

Thanks @ biogirl87! I really love the your curls on your avatar pic. And I'll try that Sharysa! Is there anyway to distribute the oil without working out the waves?

Artemishunt, thank you. It's really sweet of you. However, I'm pretty sure those are from combination of my hair being in a bun for hours and humid/misty weather. I don't know if there are that many curls in my hair from the back when i normally wear it down. That pic is about 10 months old so really needs to be updated. Haven't found a pic to be new avatar pic though.

artemishunt, I see a hint of frizz to your unconditioned hair that makes me think 2a. The fact that you can get so much wave just by scrunching also makes me think 2a.

I would call it 1c.

Combing oil through your hair is usually harmless, and for me it's actually a good thing (helps my waves clump up more). If you're apprehensive about frizz, though, you could try a wide-toothed comb for oiling at first.

I'd say 1c to 2a (when scrunched w/gel).

An update! After a really intense oiling session (almost one tablespoon), I'm happy to say that I can see 2-3 ripples.
Thank you all for the great advice!

I think 2a. Definitely looks more wavy than straight.

Yep, definitely on the verge of 2a.
