I would like to thank all of you here at LHC for the support and advice I have received. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! :)
I first joined in December 2011. I cut my hair into a pixie so that I could start with a clean slate. I cut it on a whim. If I had really thought about it, I wouldn't have wanted to go through the awkward growing out process from a pixie.
For my wedding in June of 2012, I had virgin shoulder length hair!

Although I was happy with the length, color, and condition of my hair I was disappointed in how it was styled. The stylist ripped and pulled at it as she heat styled it. I could hear my hair breaking as she brushed through it and blowfried it. As a result, I decided to have a post-wedding chop. I ended up with chin length hair. I'm sure it could have been easily babied back to health, but I was feeling a need to switch things up. I also had some highlights put in which I HATED.
Honestly, I don't know what I was thinking! This picture is from July, 3 weeks or so since I had cut it to chin length. My one year of LHC growth started here

Shortly after I decided to try henna. I began with Light Mountain.
This is August 2012:

I then used one application of Henna Sooq's Lush Brown Kit. After that it was straight Red Raj and regular Raj from Henna Sooq. The technique I use to apply henna, recipes, time between applications varies but I always use BAQ henna.
This is at about 7 months of growth from my starting point, January 2013:

I was very pleased at my growth. So happy to have reached shoulder again! :)
And here is my growth as of now:

Some things I do differently now are sleeping on a satin pillowcase, combing and not brushing, oiling, wearing my hair in braids and hair sticks, using gentle sulfate free shampoo, washing less often, the list goes on! I learn new things all the time thanks to all of you!
I still struggle with some things. For the past month, since I graduated college I've been working in a restaurant and i am required to wear a baseball cap. I asked for the largest size in hopes that it would be loose and I could wear some sort of protective covering. Unfortunately it's so tight! I must have a large head :p. I can wear a wide headband, the stretchy soft kind, but I still see a lot of damage from it. Any advice is welcome! The other issue is that the cap comes down very low on my head. I can't wear hair sticks or a claw clip at all. i can do spin pin buns (sort of). For the most part I'm stuck with low braids and ponytails tied off with an elastic. I hope that I can find a career job soon where I won't have these issues.
My goal is to be at waist length. I'm not sure how long it will take. Maybe by December of 2014?! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed. :p
Again, thank you all for your helpful advice! :)
