The package states: Featuring IntelliFlex Bristles with SofTips For Gentle Styling. *Works great on wet and dry hair. *Perfect on wigs and extensions. *Soft flexible bristles detangle with ease. *No Tears, no snags, no clumps, no tangles. And "The Select Choice of Professionals World Wide". I've tried it on my dry hair a couple of times and it certainly seemed gentle and detangled well. I didn't detect any broken hairs, only hairs fallen from the roots like I get with my Tangle Teezer. I really love that it has a handle too. I see that Amazon carries them as well as a "mini" version for the purse. Just wondering what any of you think about it after trying it? Any damage? Good results?

I have one and like it about as much as the TT. I bought mine from Sally's, and was hoping they would have the smaller model to keep in my purse. Unfortunately, they only had the large model.

I don't have it, but to me it looks like a regular paddle brush, with ball-ends!

It looks like a regular paddle brush but feels more like a Tangle Teezer when you use it. It's got very soft bristles and the ball ends on the one I have feel like part of the bristle and unlikely to detach and cause problems.

No problem. I was dubious too! I went to Sally's just so I could see and feel the brush rather than take a risk by buying one online. Needless to say, I liked it enough to buy one.

A friend of mine has this and loves it. I don't know if I'd get it myself, as I detangle with a wide tooth comb only.

It seemed a little gimmicky to me, when I saw it in target. But the bristles are nice and flexible, and I am all for that.

My 3b curly girls will swear by the Wet Brush. In fact, after my 16 year old used her best friend's Wet Brush she just had o own one. She normally takes 20 or so minutes to detangle her thick curls. With this, less than 5 minutes.
Got one for myself and love it.

The only down side is that over time, with heavy use, it's no longer so amazing so I may have to buy another. I have a sneaky suspicion that 3 other people in the house had been using mine daily for months now.

Oh, and we had the TT. The Wet Brush won hands down. I don't know how they do it but it really is not like other bushes out there and functions more like a TT with a comfort handle.

Huh. Looking at it, I never would have tried it. Interesting that so many people love it! I already have TWO TT's, so so not in the market for a new brush right now, but I'll keep it in mind. :D

That's exactly what I thought when the clerk showed it to me but I bought it anyway as it was a little cheaper than the TT and had a handle. Now that I've used it several times both wet and dry, I'll take it over the TT! (I know, I feel like a traitor! lol) I'm going to get the smaller purse sized one on payday as well. ;)

Yeah, I really wanted a purse-sized one, but got the bigger one anyway to try it out. I am tired of only having a wide-toothed comb in my purse. A comb is much more likely to break my hair than a brush with flexible bristles.

It works on dry and damp hair, as well as wet hair.
I have thick hair that loves to tangle, and this has allowed me to stay sane!

I have several of these brushes. I won't use anything else on my hair. I have the paddle brush style. I have extremely tangly hair so this brush is a god send. I no longer dread brushing my hair no matter how tangly it has gotten.

I have this brush and it is incredible. I went to Ulta to check out the WB and the Tangle Teezer, and I decided to go with the wet brush. (Although I may go purchase the TT as well). But this brush is so awesome! I thought it couldn't be any different than my paddle brush, but it is. BUT I don't particularly love it on dry hair as much as wet hair.

I don't think you'll be disappointed if you purchase one!

I'm tired of just having the option to buy only purple or pink that my Sally's carries for the TT. Also, I am so freaking tired of dropping my tangle teezer that I decided to order a Wet Brush from amazon. I ordered the one with stars! Omg they have so many colors and if I end up liking this brush I'll look into getting the metallic colored ones they offer! I'm so excited!

Me too! But first I have to try this brush. Although I don't think i'll ever brush my hair wet with this as I usually let my hair air dry before combing/brushing it. Let me know if you decide to get a paddle brush as I'm curious how this will work.

Oh yes, I use my Wet Brush on wet or dry hair. It doesn't much matter. I am careful when I brush either way, and as my hair gets longer I have to be a little more careful. However, I have so few split ends and no broken hairs that I am not at all worried about brushing when wet.

I love my Wet Brush. I have two and should get another one. My Aveda salon carries them. I gave one to my 2 granddaughters. The older one has wavy hair and her mom has a terrible time combing it after washing. The Wet Brush really helped. It would be sad if her mom cut her hair due to tangling issues that I believe can be solved. I'm glad to know they are available at Sallys. I'd love to get one in a color other than purple.

I detangle with a wide tooth comb first and then use my Wet Brush. I'm not getting any breakage. I like it better than my TT.

Unfortunately, I don't do well with wide toothed combs. They catch on any tangles and break hairs. Neither the TT or the WT do that, so I use them to detangle.

Wow so many people loving this brush. Reminds me of when the TT came out everyone was raving about it like sliced bread. Im not to crazy on my TT its not nice actually it doesn't comb out my tangles easily and it straightens out my waves and I don't even use it anymore, infact I haven't used it in like over a year so its kind of hard what to think about this brush.

I got one and am not thrilled with it. :/ The bristles are just not soft enough and at the base of them there are short ragged cut pieces to hold them in just like a normal brush. To me this screams damage so I will probably take it back. oh well awkward TT it is for me.

This! I just got mine today and I'm sad. :( I too feel short ragged pieces and you can't see it in this picture, but you'll feel it if you were to stick your fingers in between the bristles! I'm not that upset since I have a little short haired toy fox terrier that will have a new brush though. I guess it's a good thing I haven't thrown my TT yet. Phew.

I got one after seeing this thread. The first few uses, I LOVED IT! It just glided through my hair like a hot knife through butter! I thought it was a lot better than my TT. But then it started getting harder to brush and I could hear some snaps :(. I looked and there was a lot of lint in it, so I thought that might be the problem. I washed it and even after I cleaned it, it still didn't work like it used to? It's not a bad brush, I'm just confused as to why it suddenly started to tug and snap some hairs. I'm not using any different products than I was before. I THINK what my hairs are getting caught on are the little nubs at the end? :(

Hey, everyone. I just heard about this brush that supposed to be more gentle for hair due to the flexible fibers. I was really curious what LHC people would think about it :hmm:

If anyone try it out I will be happy to read about your experience. It might be pain-free and perfectly fine for the most of the people but does it also damage free?

I also curious about the wet brush. It is wide tooth comb, but the tooth are curved, like the ketylo hair sticks. I also didn't find in any place if it is a seamless comb...

They just look like normal pin brushes to me.... am I missing a special kind on there? Pin brushes, for my hair, are kind of a disaster, but my hair is very fine and fragile. Not everyone's hair is like mine of course! So maybe these would work for some people.

I use it and really like it. Its very gentle, since my hair is curly I brush while hair is wet with a lot of conditioner. My hair is super short so I don't know how it will work when it gets longer, but so far I like the results.

Some curlies use a Denman brush to detangle wet--soaked with conditioner. This is because a Denman helps curls to clump (Tightly Curly method). I like the Denman because it gets ALL my loose hair, very gently, and also distributes product better than either fingers or a wide-toothed comb. It's completely non-damaging, but wouldn't work unless your hair was full of conditioner. The conditioner allows the detangling implement to slide through the hair without stretching or catching.

I brush my wet hair all the time. If I let tangles dry in my hair, they will never come out. I use a Wet Brush and a Tangle Teezer interchangeably. I like them both. I have the small Wet Brush and don't like that one at all. It catches my hair in a way that the large one does not.

ETA: I don't get any damage from either the large Wet Brush or a Tangle Teezer. They are both very good at gently removing tangles from my hair, wet or dry.

Got one of these today, and I am really liking it. And I don't use it on wet hair!

My wide toothed comb sometimes doesn't get through all of my tangles as gently as I would like, and I had heard rave reviews about this brush. The bristles are very flexible, and while it appears to have ball tips, I can't feel any seams on the bristles at all.

I only lost 2 hairs detangling my hair with this brush after taking down my braid from the day, as opposed to 5-10 that I normally get with my wide toothed comb.

Yes, I know that one should be careful when brushing wet hair or avoid it all together, but this brush has some flexible bristles that allows the brush to just glide through the hair, or that was what it said on the box. Some reviewers online said it worked even better than the tangle teezer which is great for detangling, by the way. Maybe it is just to good to be true then, and I am too easily persuaded and seduced by advertising and hypes :o

ETA: I've heard a lot of people say you can brush root to tip with this brush just fine, but the only reason I do it is because my hair isn't long enough yet to really start at the tip. If you have shoulder length hair or longer I would still start from the tip and work towards the root, just to be safe.

Heeey, I have this. Now before you all fall over each other with the ham banner, I got this for free in one of those beauty box subscriptions. As far as brushes are concerned, it's a nice brush. Does not snag my hair as much as other brushes do, leaves it shiny. But it's not a miracle brush, it's not SUPERgentle, but gentLER than others. I dunno why that is as the bristles seem pretty normal, maybethe cushion is softer? I will investigate for you all when I return home. I've not used it much, I like combs better.

I have not used it wet. I am not gonna try, either.

I'm a bit concerned about that: if your hair is already tangled, how on earth can one hair tool be used only from tips going up to roots, but another tool can claim that "it's OK to use it from roots to tips". I'm worried that it means that there's no resistance that you'd get with a comb and you are damaging hair without realizing it. The same thing happens when you comb/brush wet hair: it's easy (no resistance), but it's damaging to hair.

Anyway, I completely agree with Madora: brushes ARE NOT for detangling... I kind of doubt that even Tangle Teasers are safe detanglers. Too many bristles - not good for initial detangling.

Marbid
July 26th, 2014, 09:29 AM
Nah... I like the tangle teezer for detangling.... The bristles are really short and they dont have ball tips at all so it does not catch on hair... I cant imagine a T T snagging... It really has nothing to catch on hair... Having said that, you cant brush root to tip with a T T and detangle all at once, that is still not a good idea and a The T T bristles are too flexible to do that on any other hair type other than fine and thin... In my experience anyways....

As for a wet brush... I have it too.... My sis gave it to me because she did not like it.... Not that different from a paddle brush.. The bristles are a tad bit more flexible and the ball tips are a tad bit smaller.. Thats it... Its a tad bit gentler than a full on padle brush... But not really any better over all on either wet or dry hair... I used this on both my sisters hair and mine..

To test for snagging potential.. I pass it from root to tip on detangled hair, stop in the middle of the hair and attempt to lift the brush perpendicular to the hair.... If hair sticks to brush and brush does not come out cleanly... Its snaggy...

So far only a wide tooth comb and a tangle teezer pass this test... My husbands standard paddle brush failed grandiosely... The ball tips held on to every bit of hair.... Wet brush also failed.. Not as bad thou... The ball tips are smaller but still bad enough...

Well thats my analysis.... Not worth the money... Better off with a wide tooth comb if you really want to detangle wet hair... Tangle Teezer is not ass safe for wet hair as a comb... But pretty good on dry hair..

MINAKO

I agree with a large number of bristles not being suitable and potentially harmful when it comes to detangling for most hair types.
The tension just distibutes so much that you can even really tell wether you are breaking off hairs or not. I mainly wanted a tangle teezer to scrub my scalp in the shower.
The only brush i'm currently using sometimes is this one http://www.muji.net/store/cmdty/detail/4548076742548 It's cheap, travel size, but very well made. I usually keep it in my bag for touch ups. So even this one only ever touches my hair after the comb.
I think BBBs are another story because they are much softer and bend enough to just slide over a tangle in case there still is one.

Not all of us! I prefer to brush while dry, it makes my hair so fabulously fluffy and frizzy! It's the texture we all secretly desire, right? ;)

Thanks for the input on brushing/combing/detangling wet/dry hair. I guess it comes down to your own/your hairs preference and texture which tool you choose to detangle/brush or comb your hair with when it is wet or dry. There is not a right way or a wrong way :)

Yeah... something tells me the "give" just makes it less likely for you to notice hairs breaking, not necessarily less likely for it to happen. Any tooth with a ball on the end is going to catch a knot that's become entangled on it.

I comb my hair much more gently than I brush it, because I can feel every little tug.

But with a brush that's cushioned or with bendy bristles, it sort of stops you from feeling it. I can HEAR my hair tearing, but because it sort of gradually applies more pressure, I don't feel it very much. Doesn't mean it's not still happening. It's just the difference between putting your hand directly under hot water, and putting it under cool water and then gradually turning up the heat. You acclimate to it and don't notice it happening.

Don't care what they're promising. Sticking to finger combing if anything at all when wet...

If the bristles are less flexible than hair, I would have thought the hair will get damaged because the bristles will be stronger than the hair. Not quite sure if stronger is the word I wanted to pick, but can't think of a better one. If the bristles were more flexible than hair, then they wouldn't detangle, be cause the hair would be more forceful. If they were equally flexible, then you would basically be using a BBB, which is made of hair and isn't good for detangling! That's my chain of thought at the moment :)

I don't need to use a brush when my hair is wet, if it's full of conditioner tangles pretty much fall out on their own. A little finger combing maybe.

I have 3 of them and love them. I like my TT but I love the wet brush more. It's not an ordinary brush. The bristles are soft and pliable. I was so skeptical at first too. Before the wet brush I shied away from any brushes with ball tips. It took a lot for me to try it the first time. I detangle my hair after a wash with my Mebco wide tooth detangling comb and then I use my wet brush. It just glides through my hair. The short bristles on the TT skim over the top of my hair. I have a hard time getting the TT to do what I want it to. I have a wet brush in my bathroom, one with my travel stuff and one in my purse. I will say that I usually don't have a huge problem with tangles and my hair doesn't get bushy and frizz out with brushing. As many of you know who read my blog, I do many very un-LHC things to my hair with no problems or ill effects. This brush has not been the evil thing it's been made out to be for me.

Initially I liked the Wet Brush as it seemed to glide easily through dry detangled hair. I don't brush my hair when wet. After a few uses, I could see that it was pulling out lots of hair. Probably not more than any other brush I had used, but certainly far more than expected and advertised. It was also quite sneaky about it so I just hadn't been aware that it was happening until I took the time to check the brush. I hadn't felt it pull. This brush obviously suits a lot of people but not my very fine and petulant hair which is now quite happy with a wide tooth horn comb.

I did the worst mistake I could have think off. I got a professional brush after using wooden wide comb for 2 years. In 2 years time I totally forgot WHY I stopped using brush. 2 month of brushing my hair (when it was went as well... yeah....) and my head is full of short hairs! I stopped using brush when I noticed that the hair on the brush wasn't long, but all sorts of shorter from 15 cm long to anything in between. The brush was actually cutting my hair! damn it.... No wonder I had my hemline go thinner, and just in 2 month time :(

The same thing happened to me too! I stupidly used a professional brush for years and was surprised why my hair lost its oomph (I thought I was just getting older/less healthy or the damage from highlights was catching up with me). When I went back to a wide-tooth comb, my hair slowly but surely regained shine and thickness.
Having quality detangling tools is extremely important for maintaining hair in its best condition.

I really love my wet brush. I don't use it to detangle wet hair, only on dry hair. I use a wide tooth comb only when wet. I was finding more breakage with exclusively using a wide tooth comb to detangle. The combination is much better for me.

:) Interesting! So comb+brush gives you less damage than comb alone?
Was the breakage that you found when exclusively combing caused by too much manipulation with a comb or by too much tangling or by something else?

When I use a wide tooth comb when dry, I always heard snapping noises, no matter how careful I was. I also felt like my smallest tangles were not getting out of my hair when using the wide tooth comb dry. So I think it was definitely breakage due to manipulation because I'd pass through the same section of hair many more times when using a wide tooth comb.

The wet brush, I glide through my entire hair in about 4 passes, and I'm confident that everything is detangled.

If it's not the Wet Brush then I think it's comparing apples to oranges. If we aren't all talking about the same brush then I don't think we can't really compare our experiences.

In light of this thread, yesterday morning I tried detangling my towel dried wet hair with my Wet Brush and NOT using my Mebco wide tooth comb first. Using the brush only did not go as well as it did with doing a pre brushing detangling. However it wasn't anywhere near like taking a regular generic stiff ball tipped brush to my wet hair. Detangling first is the key for me using the Wet Brush. I can get up in the morning and brush my hair after wearing it loose all night and the Wet Brush just glides through. If I encounter a snarl I can break it apart with my fingers and complete my brushing.

One thing the Wet Brush does not do is a good scalp massage. The bristles reach my scalp but they are so soft they don't give me a nice scritching like a stiffer bristle brush would.

I LOVE my Wet Brush! I was using a wide tooth comb before that but I have far less breakage with the wet brush. I keep one in the shower, one next to my bed (for braiding it at night) and one in my bag in the car. I have fine hair it's made a world of difference.

I went to their website because I've never heard of it, and I don't understand this:
The Selfie Brush (http://www.thewetbrush.com/index.php/special-collections/selfie-brush.html)

The Wet Brush itself seems ok to me, my hair tends to do well with the cushiony ball tip type brushes in general (though I only use them when my hair is dry, and my hair isn't tangle-prone these days). But this Selfie Brush makes it seem like a super sketchy marketing ploy to me.

I've been using one ever since I worked for Disney and found out that's what they use for Rapunzel's crazy wig to keep it in tip-top shape.
Best brush I've ever owned as far as untangling my hair goes, it's magic. :) Granted I've never seen it in a store, only via Amazon. And my hair tangles VERY easily and breaks easily but there's less hair shed on this brush than other brushes I've used so yeah... it's good.

^ even though you seem to have already decided, I'd also like to say that I love my wet brush :) it's the best brush I've ever used, the bristles are actually thin and flexible so they seem to gently work though knots instead of ripping through them. Hope you like it too! :flower:

Thanks for the help! That's what got me to buy it as well. I saw a cosmetologist brush a Rapunzel wig one day at work and was SHOCKED at how easily a brush went through so much hair. I asked her what brush it was and was scared it would cost me a fortune. When I found out it was super affordable I was so happy!

I have been using my sister's. She is a hairdresser and has 3 so she can have one at work to use on clients, one at home and one at her bf's house. I have the sally's knockoff tangle tamer instead of a tangle teezer and the bristles aren't long enough to really detailed my hair. But the wet brush? Wow. It just glides through with the long flexible bristles. Considering buying my own. Would a real tangle teezer be better (longer bristles) than the knockoff, or should I just get a wet brush?

Doesn't the wet brush still pull on your scalp like a normal paddle brush does, as this kind of looks very similar. The TT doesn't do that - at all.

The bristles on the Wet Brush are very pliable and bendy. My paddles brushes all have bristles that are quite stiff. I have both the Wet Brush and the TT and 99% of the time I reach for my Wet Brush. They both live on my bathroom counter top so I could reach for either one. I gave my granddaughter both brushes and she prefers her TT. Her hair is wavier than mine.

I dont habe a wet brush and never tried one, but im not shy to throw the SHS scalp brush in the ring, it makes the TTlook pretty bad in comparison. As the name suggests it many serves to clean the scalp, which it does very very thouroughly, but also it brushes like a dream. I still use my wide tooth comb to rougly detangle.
With the TT i only ever took it to my scalp in the shower but did not like to brush my length with it at all.

I had the 'wet brush' used on my (against my choice) when I went to have my hair trimmed. Honestly, I'm not a big fan. It caught and pulled a lot of hair even though I repeatedly told the stylist I was very sensitive-headed and that I had actually brought my Tangle Teezer brush with me. So, I'm still a fan of the Tangle Teezer and for me, I haven't noticed any breakage whatsoever, but everyone's different.

I am a Tangle teezer fangirl :rockerdud: however.... I kept hearing rave reviews saying The Wet Brush is superior to the tangle teezer.

I gave in and order one of amazon.

I tried it on dry hair and didn't really like it. It did snag a little. It's far better than a normal paddle brush but not as good as the tangle teezer.

But....... I had a shower and thought i'll try it on wet tangled hair. Guess what it's freaking amazing. It glided like butter. The Wet Brush beats tangle teezer hands down on wet hair :)

So if you do try the wet brush try on both dry and wet hair. I was surprised.

I use tangle teezer on dry hair and wet brush on wet hair. I'm happy :cloud9:

Sorry to dredge up an older thread, but I thought this might fit better here than making a whole new thread. I was going to go buy a new TT (mine has finally bit the dust from so much use), but I keep hearing about this wet brush. I brush my hair a lot. It tangles constantly. I detangle it, and two seconds later it's tangled again. It's only shoulder length and I can't manage any updos other than putting it up in a claw clip (which I have to redo every five minutes, it seems). Once it gets longer and I can put it in a solid bun, I won't have to brush so much. But for right now, it happens A LOT.

My TT worked fabulously to get through my tangles easily (much less breakage than with a comb, and a much better result in less time). But here's where I'm wondering if I should try a wet brush: I usually oil my hair once or twice a week, and my hair does best if I oil it right after I wash it and it's still dripping wet. Oiling my hair while dry is a disaster; oiling it while wet gives me amazing hair. I work it through with my fingers, which results in a ton of lost hair (I'm not sure if it's from shed or breakage), and then I go over it with the TT to make sure it's all distributed evenly and to work it into my scalp. Which results in even more lost hair.

Would the wet brush maybe work better for this and result in less hair loss? I've found this routine to give me the best results from oiling, but the massive hairball I lose every time is killing me. If the wet brush would help, I'd go buy one right now.

A TT never tugs at my scalp. I think a wet brush might just do that because it's a regular paddle brush with more flexible bristles.

I've had a wet brush for several months now and at first it took some getting used to. I defintely notice little to no breakage compared to a regular cheap brush but there's just something about it I'm not super keen on... I use it occasionally but usually stick to a wide tooth comb.
