Ok so by the title you can see what it is I'm trying to do. I want to go back to my natural medium blonde hair color. I don't really want to have to go to a salon to have this done. Is there anything I can do to fade the hair color and henna out? Lemons, peroxide....?? I'm just tired of dying my hair.

I had this for henna:
Indigo accident. Henna over it

After several dyes and trying to hide it for my wedding:

The bleach to just get EVERYTHING out:

Best picture I have of my roots and my mellow ash blonde dye that I used after the bleach:

This was a long time between all of this too. I used henna for 6 or so months and then started to dye it trying to find blond for 8 months, left it alone for a few months and then bleached it left it for a few days and then used the dream blond system to do my best match to my natural color. I do have red dip dye now though so the whole freaking thing has been pointless. All this damage for nothing. Arg I am silly

Edit: I just remember there where several color b4 applications. I would guess two, and then two of a different product that does the same thing and then the bleach was a full color remover.

I don't have any advice for you but I am in the same boat. I've been getting my dark brown hair highlighted for 3 year every couple months and my hair is very damaged. I then used henna and hated it lol. So I coloured my hair a very dark brown so it would match my hair colour when my hair grew out. It faded really fast and you could see some of my highlights so I have re coloured my hair very dark brown again and it didn't fade as much this time. I am trying to grow my natural hair out now. I've been colouring since I was 13 and I'm 24 now so I would love to have natural hair again. Best of luck.

There a lot of people growing out blonde hair from henna or red dye in the Giving Up Dye thread, and personally, I think it's the most gorgeous way to grow out dye! It always looks like it's on purpose, and it has a beautiful ombre fire thing going on.

I put my red back in:

If I hadn't done all the nonsense it would be a little more of my hair red but almost identical.

Unfortunately, you're probably looking at a LOT of damage trying to get it out. ColorOops or ColourB4 are pretty good at getting permanent hair color out. They stink and you'll use a water heater full of hot water to rinse them, but not particularly damaging, just rather drying.

Getting henna out... That's the tough part. Searching for henna removal will give you some idea of how many people have tried. There have been some successes and partial successes, but for every one you see, several people have either given up or have bleached their hair to the point where it dissolves and it's still orange.

Here is a thread abour removing henna with colour oops or colour b4: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=85463

I have removed most of my henna. It was a long process and left my hair damaged but not too badly. I have babyed it and it's as soft as before and I have no split ends. It's just not as shiny as it was. You might loose some length but if you are ready for it then you should do what you want. :)

So. I want my natural colour back and I didn't want to grow it with henna red. I hennaed for 6-12 months. I am not sure. But I had very deep henna colour. I have done two colour b4 applications. I let it be for 3-4 hours and rinsed for an hour. Those didn't damage my hair but they were really drying. I was left with lighter orange colour. Then I used mild bleach on it and got lighter yellowy orange colour. Then I was fed up with red and dyed it green.. The green didn't wash out and long story short. After bleach and two permanent dark blonde box dye applications I am not left with warm medium to dark blonde colour. My roots are not too obvious, just ashier. I have some green left and also some really light coppery tones.

Best option - just grow it out. You can use temporary dyes to blend the color, also scarves, hats, wide headbands, etc. Braid ribbons or thin scarves into your hair; it really does a lot to take emphasis off growing-out color.

Pretty much this ^

Henna binds to the innermost part of your hair and in that respect it doesn't function like other chemical dyes so the solutions geared for salon or home colors usually barely touch henna. You can try coloroops or color B4, but in any event I'd try to decide the best way for growing out the color difference because if you bleach it until the henna's gone, most your hair will be gone, too.

I did three attempts of the Color Oops method described in the link Neneka gave and it faded my henna a lot. It's still pale red, but my demarcation line isn't nearly as bad as it would have been without the stripping.

Agree Color Ooops or Colour B4 but don't expect your natural colour back, if you have used a permanent colour that contains peroxide so it may well be lighter than you expect. I would strongly recommend you run strand tests with shed plughole hair rather than using your head as a laboratory since the results are unpredictable. If you end up bleaching use coconut oil to protect from some of the damage.

For the record, I've used Color OOps twice. My henna is still there, and there's not all that much difference between my hennaed color and natural. It's just one shade darker and redder.
