View Full Version : Cured my hair boredom! Yep, I bleached. (Pics)

June 8th, 2013, 05:52 PM
I have been entertaining a huge hair change for a long time now. Growing it out was fun but after I hit waist I just got really bored with my texture. Having fine hair can really suck. It lays flat, it gets oily. Having straight fine hair on top of that, geesh.

I was seriously so bored.

So the plan was: bleach it, cut it. If I like it bleached and long, leave it. If I bleach it and it gets damaged, cut it. Either way I have an out and I have a change I can live with.

So, I bleached it today (at home) and did a pretty good job. Coconut oil before applying and then after. I lightened about 4 shades but only got the damage of maybe 1 or 2 shades of lightning, so I am happy.

Anyway! Here are some pics!

After: (first is natural light, second indoor)

seriously. I needed a change so, so, so badly and I got it! I originally bleached my hair so I could do this look:

but I couldn't find a good temporary light pink to use and kind of wanted to enjoy having light hair now.

OK! That's all, just wanted to share! I really like my new color and think I may start toying around with dyes again. It was a big part of who I was in high school and you know, I kind of feel more like myself now.

Thanks for reading!

Nice! I love pics that accompany posts like these. It looks great... I think if you have fine hair the bleaching helps it to achieve more volume due to the swelling of the cuticles or something. I'm like you! I reach waist and then I get bored. So far I have reached waist three times and have done something to it: ombre, chop to almost APL, thin out the ends, and chop to almost BSL afterwards. Sometimes I regret it and sometimes I love it but it's better than being unhappy I guess. I think this time around I want to grow it out to waist again and get a really experienced colorist to professionally ombre my hair by lifting the base color and then bleaching and toning the rest through balayage and etc. I think you should enjoy your hair! Woot woot!

I love it!!!... I think it look fabulous. I would love to do the same but I don't think my poor fine hair can take it, and I'm much darker than you to start with :( but yours did really well, and I agree with leslissocool that model looks like you., :)

cute! btw you can get that look with either dilute fudge paint box in pink moon, or rubbed on some kevin murphy color bug. the manic panic and directions baby pink shades might pull that colour too. im kinda in love with temp pink hair colour, wish i could bleach my hair and go pink without hair being trashed. have fun!

It does really suit you. I did like your previous color too but I think they both suit you very well and I know how sometimes change is needed. Your hair still looks very healthy so good for you! And I definitely think you should do the pink ends thing. I usually am not a fan on pink but I think it would just look adorable on you! :)

As for coloring, maybe you could use hair crayons?

Thanks for the responses! As always, bear with me, I'm replying on a phone and its not easy.

To those of you who thought I looked like that model, y'all are way too kind! Maybe a rounder version of her LOL but that is extremely flattering.

I am uncertain about the pink at this point, probably because this is the biggest change I've had in years and I am still somewhat shocked.

This morning all I felt was dry hair and it was unsettling, but I considered how unhappy I waswith ny hair anyway so I got over it quickly.

Love it! If I wasn't trying to avoid doing anything to my hair, I would have bleached mine lol but it would be all kinds of colorful instead of that pretty blonde you have. Enjoy it because its beautiful. :)

I think you did a nice job considering you did it yourself. I have a hard time deciding whether your natural hair color or your bleached hair color is a better look on you since I think they both suit you. Well done.
