So, it was that time of the year again: Renaissance Festival! :) Oh the joys of hair toy shopping and hair braiding. I did indeed get some cool hair twisters, but have yet to get action photos. But what I do have is a veritable avalanche of braid photos, both during the actual braiding, and the finished style. (At least with the first trip. The second one, my DH was watching a show!) Enjoy! First Trip: A lace crown braidhttp://i1313.photobucket.com/albums/t548/tanookitail/Updos-Braids/DSCN0022_zps48e90443.jpghttp://i1313.photobucket.com/albums/t548/tanookitail/Updos-Braids/DSCN0024_zps59ecfe19.jpghttp://i1313.photobucket.com/albums/t548/tanookitail/Updos-Braids/DSCN0025_zps511afac1.jpghttp://i1313.photobucket.com/albums/t548/tanookitail/Updos-Braids/DSCN0028_zps828ab059.jpghttp://i1313.photobucket.com/albums/t548/tanookitail/Updos-Braids/DSCN0029_zps8e3b1356.jpghttp://i1313.photobucket.com/albums/t548/tanookitail/Updos-Braids/DSC_0056_zps3ad2da6b.jpghttp://i1313.photobucket.com/albums/t548/tanookitail/Updos-Braids/DSC_0057_zpsa81d010c.jpghttp://i1313.photobucket.com/albums/t548/tanookitail/Updos-Braids/DSC_0058_zps7c61e07c.jpg

I didn't get any progress photos on the second trip, but the results were just as stunning!

A five-strand crown braid.

That is so cool, I've dreamt of having my hair done in that kind of styles for my wedding some day, but I wonder if I'll find someone around where I live to do them. Whenever people upload pics from hair updos they've had done on such faires Im always amazed at the results and so wish there was one here so I could at least know where to contact someone to do it for me hahah...
I specially love the second updo.

Fantastic braids! I wish I could go to a Ren faire, but the nearest one would be two hours away from my town.

So beautiful! Both your hair and the styles :). First one is my fave. The Ren faire right in my neighborhood that usually goes on in June hasn't happened for the past two years which is a bummer. So now I just have to wait til October for the one thats ten minutes a way opposed to three :p. Your lovely pics are making it harder to wait! Thanks so much for sharing :)

Yup, that's me!

Whenever people upload pics from hair updos they've had done on such faires Im always amazed at the results and so wish there was one here so I could at least know where to contact someone to do it for me hahah...
I specially love the second updo.

You and me both! I wish the lovely ladies who did the braids had a separate braiding business where you could hire them to come to your home or something! Though that might be a double-edged sword: I'd probably be flat-broke from having them braid my hair regualrly!

I just love the last picture- it looks like the sun shining from the middle of the back of your head!:o

Thank you! I have no idea how they accomplish that sunburst effect. She started with a straight center part...

MMM, covet...... I'd love to be able to try those styles. Whoever did yours seems really skilled.

Me too! I was chatting with the lovely young lady (who did both braids) when she started the 5-strand crown. I told her since I can't do a 5-strand braid yet and have very little hope of mastering a crown braid on myself anytime soon, this particular braid was the best of both worlds!

Fantastic braids! I wish I could go to a Ren faire, but the nearest one would be two hours away from my town.

Actually, this particular ren fest is about 1 1/2 hours away from us, depending on traffic. I'm just that crazy! But I think it's completely worth it.

That first style is just... waaaah. I want my hair like that when (if) I get married. :o

It's a really pretty one isn't it? I was originally planning for it to have all my hair up, but then the DH took a progress picture and showed it with half down and I though it was really stunning, so we just kept it like that! I wish I could do something like this myself. I need to study the pictures to see how she got such even, clean sections in the back. The division of them make it look so intricate! I think it would make an excellent bridal style!

Viewing this post is a treat! Almost like a really good milkshake or something lol! Thanks Kaya :D

No problem! And the best thing about this milkshake is that it's totally guilt-free!

yeah!! awesome pictures! more please :)

See below for shots of my dragon hair hook!

Beautiful! And I env your gorgeous shiny hair! :D

Aww! Thank you! I attribute it to my almost daily oiling habit. The days I don't oil, my hair is really soft, silky and shiny.

Thank you! Well, look at it this way. You have plenty of time to figure out what braids you'll want! That and it will be completely worth the wait. I'll be impatiently waiting for your braid pictures!

Your hair looks so beautiful! Such lovely styles! :)

Thank you!

So here's one of the few hair toys that I ended up buying at the Ren Fest, from the Hair Twister shop. :o Technically, this is designed to be hooked onto the elastic at the base of a ponytail. But since I wasn't inclined to ponytail today, I thought I might see it it would spice up my daily, go-to nautilus bun. What do ya'll think? (I have another one, a design similar to a Celtic triskelion.)

So jealous. When I was in highschool, I would go up to the Ohio Ren Fest in Harveysburg,OH and have my hair done at Dreamweaver Braiding. Even with short hair, it always turned out gorgeous. They have a website with all kinds of braiding instructions though so now I'm trying to teach myself. I can't imagine it'll ever look this nice though. ^_^
