How long did it take, what length did I start at?
I've been growing for around 10 years, though for 3-4 of those I kept it at TBL. I decided to let grow when it was around BSL.

Regarding the color shift up the length...
When I was around 13 I dyed my hair red. No bleach. The only time I have ever done that. It tinted it red, and wasn't really noticeable unless in the light. Years later someone mentions the same thing, and I compare the ends to the nape. Permanent hair dye is really permanent in my case! The ends are slightly more red than the more recent growth. It's crazy to think that the ends of my hair was the hair on the top of my head almost 10 years ago. :D
