Hello all :)

Is there a hair type that is wavy at the roots and takes 6 to 7 inches of growth to start forming s-like curls?

Yes, many people with curly hair find this to be the case. The hair near your roots is weighed down by the rest, meaning the curls are stretched out into waves. The hair nearer the ends has less weight pulling on it, so the curls are free to do their thing. The longer your hair gets, the more marked the difference between the roots and the ends will be. One of the side-effects of growing my hair out has been that my former 3a curls are now 2b at best.

Aha, I see! Actually in my case, my curls started to show up after 1.5-2 years of growing my hair, now I have wavy roots-to-middle hair and s-curly hair from the middle to the ends, with some natural frizzy-texture inside.

I am noticing that the longer my hair is growing, the more curls I am having!
