1 year anniversary! --pic heavy-- :)

I decided to grow out my hair last March, and joined TLHC in May 2012. Thank you so much for the support and encouragement during last summer. From you I learned: That it's okay not to have a "hairstyle", I don't need to get a haircut to maintain the health of my hair, and heat is BAD. OKay, here are my pictures. (They are the best I can do, please bear with me. I hennaed a couple of days ago, and it hasn't oxidized down yet. I kind of like the brightness of a fresh henna, but it only shows up in sunshine. (Ignore the cowlick on my crown. It has a mind of it's own.) Thank you TLHC for helping me grow, and accepting me even when my hair was really short. :inlove:

It looks like the "captions" didn't line up with the pictures very well. It's like this: #1 - May 2012, #2 - Oct 2012, #3 - Feb 2013, #4 today, #5 today.

Amazing progress from a pixie, and certainly not the easiest thing to do, many awkward phases to go through that can set you back months, if not over a year, if you give in to them. Well done! Congrats. :D :thumbsup:

Thanks, Lapushka! Yes, the pixie didn't grow out prettily at ALL! TLHCers helped me cope. Something simple, like pinning up the front for months, would have never crossed my mind. I also got plenty of sympathy from the Super-Shorty thread. :)

Thank you, Agnieszka. I hope so. I remember it being pin straight when I was a little girl. I've had it permed or pixied since my teens, and don't know what I'm getting into!

I am always so envious of such growth! You have dogged determination, I think the first year of growing out a pixie is the worst (yes I have done it YEARS ago but not as long ago as it seems). I am super anxious to see what this next year holds for you.

Rainfortheend: Thank you. I refused to trim, so it seems like it grows fast? I don't measure, but think my growth is very average--guessing from how often I need to henna my roots.

jennafrogg: :pinktongue: I started those monthly siggys to stay motivated. Now, it's harder to take pictures myself. DD (16 years) takes them --reluctantly--sometimes, so the most recent ones are SKETCHY. I hope I can stay after it for another year!

Louise148: :) That "thickness and body" is probably from dirty hair! (Some of my siggy pics are dirty-haired, pulled down from an updo messiness.) But, I wanted to keep my siggys going. I was really motivated by others' growth pictures when I first started.

WSL: :lol: I do have a healthy sense of denial. I just pinned it up and pretended I looked like a movie star! (I still do that quite a bit! :lala:) I got lots of help and support from members here. One girl shared that she wore a little jaw clip in her bangs for months! It never crossed my mind to pin it up for weeks on end, until I read about others doing just that. :)
