Looking for updo suggestions please :)

I'd going to a semi formalk dinner next week at work (I work in a school, and its with the 18 year old students), and I have no idea what to do with my hair.

I'd like something edgy and young looking, but struggling to think of anything. I have some time to practice, so thought I'd appeal to the collective knowledge of the LHC for ideas :)

I am happy to use styling products, teasing, and heat for this one off occasion (practices will be without products and heat to minimise damage ;) ).

You could do a high ponytail with a French braid upsidown on the bottom bit. If you can get it smooth it looks quite formally and the plait makes it funky, a bit of ribbon or leather around the base of the ponytail would really make it special.

I find a single side bun feels youthful. Any kind of bun will do and you can do things like lace braids from the farther side.

I've tried them all out, and I think I'm going to do something with braids, as they look quite pretty in my hair....I found a fauxhawk tutorial, where I could braid the sides, hmm...

How about one of the hair styles from the tv show's Game of Thrones or Vikings. There are a few youtube videos on these styles.
