So I was totally ignorant of what it means to actually take care of your hair before I found TLHC. I had bleached it blonder and blonder, because it could never be blonde enough for me. And I would flat iron it everyday (multiple times on humid days). And after being blonde, I decided I wanted my natural color back ,(whatever that was) so I dyed it something close to brown. Didn't like that, so went back blonde. Then a little while later, I dyed brown again, and got highlights in November 2012. Technically, after all of that trauma I put my hair through, I should not have ANY left. And now I have been embracing my natural color for 5 months. I would call myself a "blondette." And here is my damaged hair that I began with which I had to chop off from shoulder to chin length. April 11,2012:

And this is April 2012 also, after I chopped it: http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/y510/Indigostreams/MARGARETPC/8ea150b6-af0e-455f-a1a2-cbc4cf725789_zps52eea886.jpg?t=1366072013
And this is my hair today, about a year later:http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/y510/Indigostreams/8c2f07c3-1623-4510-9613-95569f22c305_zps634a3858.jpg?t=1366073268

Nothing too impressive, but I am thankful to have healthier hair, and to be at shoulder length again now. I am thankful to be a part of this community, and you all are great and I appreciate your advice and helpfulness. I enjoy seeing all of your progress, and so here's mine. :)

After all that damage, that's great progress already. At least you realized that what you were doing to your hair was damaging. I hope you continue to grow out your natural hair. Good luck, and happy growing! :D

Just to be devil's advocate.... I think there are a few people on LHC who keep dye/bleach their hair blond and also healthy. If you haven't seen their posts yet you may want to explore. Happy anniversary!

Yes, I have read quite a few threads on that. Thanks! I decided that I was going to embrace my natural color for a while, and then if I still don't like it, I'll probably look into those threads again. It is hard, because my hair starts off pretty mousy colored, but the sun tends to brighten it up. So my plan is to wait until the end of Summer and see if I'm happy with it.
