A more attractive alternative to satin/silk hair caps?

...I look like a little granny baker in mine, which my boyfriend says is cute but I know it isn't very sexy haha.

I'd braid it but I dislike the braid curls on my hair... I really love how it turns out with the cap but I just dislike how the cap itself looks. In other words, I don't want my hair to get all curly overnight, I prefer soft waves like I get now. I know I'm being all silly and vain but I've been wearing my cap for a year now... And you know, when I go to sleep I envision myself looking like a sleeping beauty with mah locks cascading down the pillow but instead I know I look all frumpy and stuff. :D So I'll at least TRY to find an alternative.

Any suggestions? :) What do you guys wear on your heads' to sleep?

I've only just started wearing a satin cap, so I can't help with an alternative, but I can join you in the 'I feel silly/frumpy' club. I find its helping me to be able to laugh at my hats with my boyfriend, and to not wear it for....activities ;) If your boyfriend isn't complaining about it, I would try not to worry too much. No it won't win you any style awards, but he obviously loves you for you, a little hat isn't going to stop that :)

i found silk pillowcases worked wonders but in the end they made my hair to slippery.

I use the type that WaitingSoLong posted, and it has been working well for me. I agree though, that when my hair gets to be about hip length I am going to have to find another alternative or make myself a longer version.

A nice silk / or other smooth fabric/ scarf tied like a turban!You'll look like an exotic sleeping beauty - or maybe a lady from the 20's.

I hate sleeping with things on my head,but for some reason,don't mind the "sleep turban" and it's still on when I wake up in the morning.

I use a silk beanie from Pretty Antoinette's. I can't say it really looks any better, but if I sleep with my hair loose it's a disaster in the morning, so it's a tradeoff.

Heh I have this problem :) I like braidwaves but hate the weird dent on the ends from the hair tie and I don't want to wear braid waves every day xD Granted I don't worry about it looking frumpy because I don't have anyone I need to impress, but it's still kinda annoying. Those long satin caps look so cool! I've been wanting to try just silk scarves, too.

Depending on your hair length, maybe just a satin pillowcase would work. For me it's better to wear the cap but just the pillowcase is still worlds better than a cotton one.

I do! I was a bad vegan and got one (they are silk) My kids and i sleep in the same bed and they were ending up on top of my hair and it was taking a beating! Nothing else I tried worked, so I got a blensblend cap and love it! Would never be without it again!

I had been using a silky cap, but opted for a satin pillowcase, works great! I lay my hair up and over the pillow at night.

Ok so I want a silk sleeping cap, but I can't seem to find them in these regions and I'm a bit hesitant to order (sizing always makes my brain fart) Because off this I decided to try a Buff first, my idea was to leave it like a tube and see how that worked, but it was to short ! So I closed a side and have now one off the strangest looking things on my head :p
Based on this anyone an idea for sizing the more flattering caps (I forgot the name off the site something with blend ?) ?

I found a large wide tooth African butterfly clip in a twisted figure 8 updo is super comfortable!And easy to sleep in..

I used to do a braid and sometimes a really high bun but I move a lot during sleep and I still get some tangles. And I'm hoping a sleeping cap will not only reduce tangles but preserve the little wave I have a bit longer :p

I do a loose braid right at the top-back of my head (easiest to start while laying across the bed on my back, my hair hanging over the edge). I get the braid started, then sit up and finish the braid with it hanging in front of my face. As long as my hair isn't damp and I keep the braid on the loose side, I only get a very subtle braid wave from it, if anything. Then I put the braid over the top of my pillow while I sleep, tossing and turning all night long.

you know you have to put them with a host first ? If you use photobucket and you click on your picture you can see 'links' next to it and then you only have to click on img and it copies it for you so you only have to paste it in your post.

I would love to see it, if I'm not mistaken it was the brand you mentioned I was interested in. Can you give me an idea for sizing ? If you know a Buff isn't long enough ?

I think most of us who wear stuff on our heads just let our hair be bunched up inside. I've tried one of the "pocket bonnet" styles, which hangs maybe a bit past the shoulders, and even then it flops all around and gets annoying to sleep in. Since I have a tendency to sleep on my hair when it's loose or braided (or get it slept on by the hubby, or attacked by a cat), something that stays close to my head is better.

If you want something long, though, I recall a couple of members would get silk or satin half-slips (you know, skirt-liner things), sew the bottom shut, and adjust the waist portion to comfortably fit the head. Then most of your sizing problem is limited to looking silly in the shop holding underwear up to your head.

I personally just throw my hair up over my pillow when I sleep. I've been sleeping that way for years. Of course I have 1b/c hair. My hair is also very fine/thin and I rarely have any tangle problems when I wake up. I get more tangles when I wear a pony tail!

I need to sign up with photobucket, and find my camera. Anyway, I use an extra-large blensblend cap and my hair is lower mid-calf length. The circumference of your head doesn't matter, because that is adjustable in the cap. But the extra large gives more than enough room for my hair to be shoved into it.

Can you describe how far it hangs down off your head in the back? I don't want something too long (my hair's only waist now), but these do sound very nice.

I'm not sure if I like the snug feeling like I had with the buff, but I'm not sure about about it hanging to loose now you mention it. Hmmm see how I can test it !

I didn't even think of this! What a simple idea to try! I have several slips and I never wear them. Must see if this will work!
