View Full Version : FOUR years on LHC (yay for pictures!)

I remember, when I first started coming on LHC, I was SOOOO jealous of all the anniversary threads. I thought I would NEVER have hair like that. In fact, my hair had always grown so slow and stalled at about APL to BSL. Now here I am, 4 years later, and my (virgin hair - just natural sun lightening) tips are nearly to my waist!

I now trim generally once a year (in late November) and dead head those split ends as needed. I wash once or twice a week. Sleep (usually) in a bun and on silk pillow cases. I do wear my hair down quite often (for 1-3 days after washing) but usually over my shoulder so that it stays out of seatbelts and purse straps. Otherwise, cinnabun or a braided bun are my go to's.

Enjoy some pictures!

February 2013 (red ribbon is at my natural waist - my hair normally isn't this dry, we had just gotten home from a southern California vacation and my ends were screaming for oil):

The awesome thing about joining LHC and really caring for my hair has been my daughter (we call her Honey Bee) really caring for hers as well. So I thought it would be fun if I posted her growth pictures as well.
Bee's hair is similar to mine in that it's very fine and thin but her hair is much more blonde than mine and she has gorgeous curls. Unfortunately, because it's so fine, her hair ties in fairy knots and I absolutely have to oil it and brush it often - this causes her curls to straighten a lot. Any humidity and it curls all up though. She's probably a 2c/3a if I just left it alone - maybe when she's older!

March 2009 - 1½ years old:

March 2010 - 2½ years old:

February 2011 - 3½ years old:

February 2012 - 4½ years old:

February 2013 - 5½ years old (Bee's tips touched her tailbone when dry, I was starting to worry about them getting in the toilet and then ends were a bit icky so I gave her a blunt cut to her natural waist which was 5-inches off):

Amazing and I love your DD's hair too! Thanks for sharing, congrats! :cheese:

My daughter's hair is exactly where Bee's 3 1/2 hair is, so that's really inspiring for my girl!

Thanks so much everyone! Isn't it funny how goals change the longer it gets? I tell my husband that I want it long enough to not have to wear a shirt and have my hair cover everything, LOL.

Bee went through a (short lived) phase where she wanted to cut her hair like Justin Bieber! I support her wanting her own style but I wasn't sure she understood that it takes time to grow out. Thankfully, I explained that, with short hair, you don't get braids or fun hair styles and she changed her mind. I was crazy relieved!

Wow, what a difference! You've done a fabulous job with yours and your daughters hair. It looks like she inherited your hair too - especially in the last pic.
