View Full Version : Oops, I need to rethink my goal length...

I keep thinking that once I hit fingertip, I will quit growing. I keep thinking that length is a few inches away yet. These are the pictures that my oldest took of my hair today. Sorry my hair is a bit of a mess, it was quite windy. Anyway, when did this happen!? I think I had a massive growth spurt. What now? I am actually at a loss to know what to do next. Lol!
Overall, I am pretty happy with how it looks. Yes, the ends are thin, but I wanted layers. The purply cast is from Red-Violet Elumen. When you see my hair close up, it looks like I have purple highlights from where my greys took the dye particularly vibrantly. I love it. I could stand with a bit of a trim as I am starting to notice some splits again, but nothing overly worrisome. Happy growing all. :blossom:

Ah thanks! It is a bit of a relief, to be honest. Now I just need to sort out what to do next. Keep going? Maintain? Ah well, what I shall do right now is enjoy hitting a milestone. Yay!

It really did grow fast! It seems like you posted not too long ago about waiting for FTL, and here you are. Congrats! I'm glad to see the Elumen is working out for you. It's a great color on you. Is the color holding well?

Gorgeous hair.
As far as a rethink, if it was me (oh for the day of fingertip length) I would maintain for a while just to trim away those few splits you have found and then see what it wants to do after that.

Your hair looks lovely! I've been feeling a bit meh about mine lately, and wondering whether to cut it back a bit, but it's a similar texture to yours and yours looks fab at that length! You have given me hairspiration! :)

Congratulations ! I think you should buy yourself a new hair toy to celebrate lol
Maybe start micro trimming if you don't do that already so you can keep growing and thicken up at the same time.
Beautiful hair!

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone!
jeanniet, I LOVE the Elumen. The color lasts for me, as long as I use all the steps with the Prep, the Lock and so on. I also sit under a cap extension for my dryer for about 30 minutes. The only thing I am not keen on, other than the time it takes to dye, is the bleeding! It never entirely stops, and I am not quite sure what I can do about it. However, it seems a small price to pay for a permanent purple! I am going to harass my oldest to see if he can get a shot of my roots so you can see the vibrancy.

Honestly, the weight. I get headaches a lot now, and I have such a sensitive scalp that there are days I can't even have my hair in a braid... I guess I should maintain a bit and see how that goes.

What lovely hair you have, ravenreed. I've always thought that black hair with a blue or purple sheen is so cool looking.

Here is are closeups of the purple. The length is darker, but that makes sense since it was dyed and hennaed over the years. I LOVE the roots. The colored greys just absolutely glint pinky-purple and it makes me :crush:, but I can't really capture the vibrancy. Oh well, I am very, very happy with the Elumen. My hair is in such great shape, and I can't recommend this stuff enough to those who want a damage free way of playing with hair color. I am especially impressed with how well it sticks to my greys, which are notoriously hard to dye with traditional, box dyes!

 :thud: Your hair is so beautiful! It's more vibrant than the picture? It looks pretty purple to me :) I had to look up Elumen, I'm trying read their web page via google translate. Permanent, colourful, covers grey, no damage... sounds like a miracle, although I don't doubt it your hair looks great. How does that work? Congratulations on reaching your goal :)

Thanks so much! It is a non-peroxide dye, in the same family as Manic Panic. So that is over my dark hair with no color lift. It isn't quite as vibrant indoors, but that is fine with me. There are a lot of steps involved, and I have to use all of them to get the color to stick. There is a whole Elumen thread (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=5594) here on LHC. I guess I should pop these pictures over there too.

Wow, I really like the purple color. It wouldn't go over where I work though. Your length is wonderful.
