Since my scalp can be oily, I try to scritch often, but something's been happening that has discouraged me. Every once in a while when I scritch, a tiny strand of hair will come out attached to one of my finger nails. It's usually super fine and about 4 inches long. I'm worried that scritching is hurting the new growth. Has anybody else experienced something similar?

Is it possible you have shorter hairs around your hair line such as at the temples or nape?

It doesn't tend to happen around the hair line. It can happen in the middle of my hair, including the top of the skull. My hair is less dense on the top of my skull in general, so I want to be gentle there. I wonder if the low density is becuase the hair there is growing as these super fine strands? Which means stimulating my scalp should help, right? Except when I use nails!
