View Full Version : Hair Typing + Maintaining Wave?

February 23rd, 2013, 08:18 AM
Hey guys, I'm back~

So here's the basic thing, my hair has always had some natural wave to it, and it seems to be increasing in intensity as I age.
I've also noticed that some days I wake up with a head full of waves, a lot stronger than usual.
I was wondering if anyone knows what could be causing this? And if so how I could encourage the waves?
When it happens, I've usually had a hot shower the night before and sleep on my hair damp.

Here's a picture of when I just woke up

And here's one from the end of that day

Hi! :) In my case different routine (different conditioner, drying process,..) causes more or less intense waves, I wouldn't know what exactly though.

I think you're 2b, but it's hard to tell from that angle. I wouldn't know about encouraging the waves, accept for the curly girl method that doesn't work for me or water only (worked, but I don't practice it). Sleeping with damp hair just makes my hair look like a mess, because it just sticks out and I can't fix it until I wash my hair again. I hope that helps.

I like to put a tbs of conditioner in a spray bottle of water, mist my hair and "scrunch".

I think the first picture is because your hair got scrunched around while sleeping from you moving around. I don't know if that's a true representation of your wave pattern. Your hair does, however, look to be about 2A. Maybe 1C.

How does it look after you wash (or at least rinse) and then air-dry it (without sleeping on it)?
