2 years Growing! Pixie to BSL!

WOW! So I finally get to post a hairiversary thread!

I had a pixie hair cut for a year and started to grow my hair out Feb. 2011, I joined LHC in July 2011. I've learned so, so , so much about hair care and I LOVE my hair now. It's much better than it has been in a very long time. I chopped all of my hair off in 2010 because I felt so sick of my hair and how it was behaving that I couldn't take it anymore. I think about it now and my hair was begging for better treatment, I just wasn't listening to it. My hair is now longer than it was before I chopped it all off and it is now longer than it has been in over 10 years.

I used to dye, cut, shave, bleach/dye (in one day), straighten daily, curling iron, tease and even "dread lock it" for a night and brush it the next morning. Ugh, my poor hair. It is fine, breaks easily and I shed a lot...when I think about all the damage I did to it, no wonder my hair NEVER looked nice.

I am now heat free, styling product free, and dye free. I use jojoba, almond and olive oils (they all have different effects on my hair, I use it as a leave in on my ends or mix them for deep oil treatments) I love my ACV rinses once or twice a month (depending on my scalps needs), I use Suave shampoo (every3-4 days, diluted) I CWC or CO (depending on my hairs needs), I use Shea Moisture products as a leave in and I comb my hair while wet with leave in only. I now braid my hair every night, and most days or put it in a top bun. I started S&D'ing last summer when my hair finally got long enough to actually see the ends up close LOL I have NOT trimmed or cut my hair in 2 years!!! crazy I know :o I will be trimming it soon, not sure if I want to get rid of my FTE or layers yet...still thinking.

When I first joined LHC I measured my hair constantly (like more than once a week!!! lol) I was also Over-oiling and just over obsessed with my hair, maybe doing too much at once...it took a while to figure out what my hair liked, but now I am more of a benign neglect kind of person and I just pay attention to what my hair and scalp need day by day. I don't even know my actual measurement anymore, I just use body markers (apl, bsl...). I learned to just let my hair be.

WOW! Thanks for sharing your story. It lights a fire under my rear end! Growing a pixie without trims isn't easy. You've done a fabulous job, and your hair looks so healthy and strong. You could be a shampoo model--if they didn't damage your hair for every photo shoot! LOL! Great job, and thanks again for sharing. :)

Super shorties, just put your hair back in headband or little ponytails until you can braid or bun it, make oil and conditioners your best friend, and forget about your hair. If you feel like you want to cut or trim just look at pics of people with your goal length hair (google image, tumblr, pinterest, and of course LHC) it helps to with the urge to want to chop off the awkwardness. KEEP GOING!
