But Merida's hair from Brave makes me so happy!!!
i have the length for it... If only, ya know, my hair were fire red and curly. It's blonde and stick straight, but hey, a girl can fantasize! Gosh Disney hair is always so amazing! Yeah yeah, I know it's not real.. Lol

My 3 year old granddaughter loves Brave. She has a bow, she has the doll, and she wants me to watch the movie with her constantly. When we watch the movie, she makes me take my wild, long curly hair out of bun or braid.

This makes me very, very happy!

I haven't seen that movie, but I can totally relate to admiring cartoon hair. I really want hair like Katara from Avatar: the Last Airbender! Especially in season 3 when she wears it down a lot... I'm a huge geek for this show, I've rewatched it a bunch of times. The most recent time, I just kept staring at her hair in envy!

Anyone else want to share pictures of cartoon hair they admire?

I saw Brave on my birthday last summer. When I came out of the theater, there were two little girls dressed up as Merida. I flipped! They were so cute!

I read that pixar had to write a computer program specifically for her hair, so that each curl moved independently of the others but with Merida's movements. I knew a girl with hair like hers when I was a kid, and always wanted mine to be like it!

Other cartoons: Sailor Moon. Not sorry, not even gonna lie about it ;P

AWWW! What an absolutely precious moment together.

I have a not-so-secret yearning for curly hair. When I met a half-sister for the first time, she had long-ish curly hair and I was soooo envious. When I told her that I had always wanted curly hair growing up, she told me she had always wanted straight hair. Ah well, the grass is always greener!

OMG yes! Thinking back on it, this was probably one of the most inspirational shows for making me want long hair as a kid.

Yay, Avatar! I love the huge variety of Asian hair on ATLA. So many people are only familiar with East Asians that have smooth, glossy hair, and being Filipino with hair much more like Katara's, it's nice to see someone I don't have to straighten my hair to look like.

I always thought Katara--and the whole of the Southern and Northern Water Tribes--were depicted as basically Inuit/arctic people. Of course, even North American arctic peoples are descended from Asian lineage, so your point still remains. The racial and cultural diversity is one of the awesome things about that show... too bad the movie is such an insult!

I think my cartoon hair love would be Thumbelina. The second I saw that movie I was sure that someday I'd have long gorgeous hair and live in the Vale of the Fairies. I've yet to have either dream come true haha!

I think it's actually more realistic to admire cartoon hair than to admire like, the Kardashians and their hair weaves as if THAT were realistic.
I have a soft spot for Princess Jasmine myself. I not only like her, I've always loved that blue she dresses in. Unfortunately, it looks really bad on me, in spite of my very similar skin tone.

They were, but knowing the EXTREMELY small pool of minority characters in the media, we can't exactly be picky about things like nationality. :P

I would have given anything to have Ariel red hair! My cousin is a natural red head and I was so jealous and then I became a faux box redhead too (probably not the best hair decision lol)

I always liked Thumbalina, though not necessarily the colour. It's ironic- I never liked Jasmine's hair (the poofiness at the sides of her face and that weird swirly thing going on at the tip of the pony) even though I've heard that you're supposed to like the disney princess with your colouring/ethnicity the best.

I wonder how long it would be if it were straightened?

I met a woman the other day with Merida-curly hair. Like, DEAD on. Just a different colour. I went "your hair is amazing!" before I could realize it might be a bit rude.

I used to gaze at Jasmine and Sailor Venus' hair with great envy.

I loved merida's hair in the film. My boyfriend went with me and asked if I could have hair like that (which beats him saying it would look better shoulder length), I had to tell him it just wasn't possible. I wish it was but my slightly wavy, very blonde hair will likely never be that curly and since I have no red at all anywhere in my hair colour or complexion (I'm very very neutral) I don't think the red would suit me much either. lol.
I liked avatar, and the styles are very cool but again not possible for me. Maybe in a few more years my hair will be long enough for disney princess hair...

Right!! But at least I have you to look at so that I appreciate my waves. Why do we have to fall into this stigmatization that all Asian people should have straight hair. ughhhh it makes it hard on me because it seems like they do and i'm just in a minority with a mix background even though I consider myself to be more Asian.

Merida's hair is amazing. x3

Pocahontas was my hair idol when I was little. When I asked my mom to cut it the first thing she said was "You don't want to have it be like Pocahontas' anymore?" It almost stopped me... Almost. Now I regret cutting it to BSL, but back then it made sense to me. *sigh* For a little bit when I was a mite older I was tempted by characters like Sailor Venus to grow it out again. Now I just envy characters like Sephiroth and those aforementioned.

I've seen that movie so many times, and only just found out that Howl's voice actor is Christian Bale. Howl is Batman. And Calcifer is the guy from Princess Bride who repeatedly says "Inconceivable!" Also Mike Wazowski.

I really like Balsa's simple hair style from Moribito, though it seems to change lengths each episode. some times its bsl and others it's more like waist length. It's been a while since i've seen the anime so i dont remember if the artists were gradually making her hair longer over time. My hair is not whispy and straight like hers :(
