I'm considering buying a shower comb, but first I want to know which brands are good, which to avoid, and if they'll work if I don't use silicone-based conditioner... Suggestions, please?

Just make sure that the comb is seamless and made of plastic. Wood and bone combs can get damaged in the shower. I really like this comb by Creative that I got on amazon.

I have a wide tooth bamboo comb that I got at Whole Foods. $8. People have said that Body Shop has a great one too. Go for seamless, and wide-tooth. Wood is probably the best material in my opinion.

From what ive read on here, wooden ones are not really suitable as a shower comb as the wood swells and they can chip. The one i use is from Boots, its a plastic one though but i have never had any problems with it. There is also a new TT made for showering with but IMHO a normal TT would be just as good!

Eta this is similar to the one i use http://www.boots.com/en/Goody-Start-Style-Finish-Ouchless-Shower-Comb-Start_1018214/

A wooden is better once hair is dry and the body shop one is a good one but i prefer my TT these days as its so gentle!

One of the best combs I have is my wide toothed one from Hairsense.

I like my wide-toothed Swissco comb. It's plastic so fine for the shower, has no seams, and is very smooth. I got mine from Amazon for about $8, there are a number of different styles to choose from.

I second Hairsense. I have two combs from them. One for in the shower, and one for my purse.
