I came across this video for recreating the hairstyle of the ancient Roman Vestal Virgins. Thought those of you that are interested in ancient hairstyles might find it interesting. It is a very complicated style, and it looks like you need at least waist length hair to attempt it, and most likely someone helping you:

The hairdresser that recreated this style has a YouTube channel where she presents other ancient styles as well:

I hope that you all enjoy.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing! I don't think I'll ever try any of those styles though, as my hands and hair are generally uncooperative and I have no one who could help me :D

I love her videos! While I won't be trying the vestal virgin style, I've already done the cleopatra coin style, Classical Greek style, and my favorite, the Aphrodite knot. I can't wait until my hair is longer so my Aphrodite knot will have more hair on either side - at bra strap length my hair is just long enough to do it.

That was absolutely fascinating. I think it would have looked slightly better if the model had had a few more inches to her hair length, but it was very interesting. I wonder if you would absolutely need assistance with it or if you could make do with a bunch of hair clips to hold the hair in place while working on the style.

I wondered too if there would be a way to hold it in place and complete the hairstyle alone. Sadly I can't try it out as my hair is still way too short. If anyone does attempt it I'd be curious to find out.

Very cool, thank you! Seems evident from the sum of work that vestal virgins did not punch the time sundial.

Aphrodite knot on clean, straight waist-ish, slightly damaged hair (dye not back combing or any other craziness).
