I'm thinking 2a or 2b, but I'm not sure. I kind of would like to know more or less what level of curliness so I can try some methods of care geared toward my exact hair type. I can straighten it pretty easily but if I put in gel and scrunch it will look curlier. Anyway, this is shampooed, conditioned, not combed, and air dried. I know I used to have quite straight hair but now I have waves and I love it.

I'm going at least 2c... maybe even 2c/3a with a little encouragement to turn those waves into curls!

There are spirals present, so you can't be 2a or 2b. Spirals start showing up at 2c. If that spiral level were uniform over your whole head, I'd guess around 3b. Since it's not uniform, right now I'd go with we're not able to type and that you should experiment with more moisturizing and curl friendly routines to see what happens.

It doesn't have to be a radical change to start. The condition-wash-condition method that gets suggested so much is an easy way to get more moisture into your routine while using the same hair care products that you have now. Chances are your current products are fairly good for your hair... while it may be fun to switch when they're used up, it's not like you have to be in a huge rush :). If CWC turns out to work well for you, you might find that diluting your shampoo helps also.

I'd go with 2c/3a, with the proviso that as you grow longer, you may find that it turns into a solid 3a.

I say 2c/3a. It looks like mine. You should try the curly girl method, I'm pretty sure you could get it to be more curly. Or do the scrunching with gel. I find, that the more time I wear my hair curly (since I can get it wavy or straight quite easily, just like you ) the curlier it gets. I found that mousse works better for me than gel. You might try that, if you like. I know it has alcohol, but I have been using it for many months now, without any damage or dryness. BTW: beautiful hair color.

Your hair looks very similar to mine, and I classify as 2b/2c. I don't think its in the 3's because it is not spiraling all over and it is easily straitened. With the right treatment, you may get a solid 2c, but you may not. Mine can appear solid 2c, bordering on 3a, but it falls out easily into waves. Here's an example:

I'd say 2c, I have spirals at the bottom too but spaced out. My canopy is not as wavy as yours though, I classify myself as 2c but I may have to change it to 2b as my hair grows and stretches out, I'm hitting top bsl on most bras now, so by the time I reach waist I may be at 2a. This is tempting me to use my curling wand again, especially when my mam said that I should style my hair more often  also my hair is coarse and doesn't seem to have any heat damage, although I've probably only got 3" new growth since I stopped heat styling so I can't really tell the difference yet. I'm so tempted!
Option 2, I could cut layers to give more curl? Although I was hoping to increase my hem thickness soo.. I'm fluffed!

Thank you all who replied, I appreciate it! I think I might try CWC. I'd love to keep my curls as I grow or even increase the curliness if possible. When I was little I always wanted curly hair like my big sis, then in the 80's I had plenty of bad perms (sorry hair!) and still never could get the kind of curl I wanted. Then about 6 years ago I had to go thru chemo and my hair grew back curly like many people's hair does. It's smoothed out a little after about 2 or 3 years, but I think what I have is here to stay (I hope). My doc said if it's still curly now it will probably stay. So, what that means is I'm fairly new to curly hair and I have a lot to learn.

Now I'll run off to update my profile to 2c!!!

Your hair looks like 2b/2c to me. It's beautiful no matter what type it is.
