So, I got a haircut!
Well, not really. I didn't even want a trim. All I wanted was some face-framing layers to keep my updos from looking so severe while I grow out my bangs.
I don't really have many pictures of my hair UP before I got the cut because I hated the way it looked... but I suppose this is good enough to get the general idea

I was really worried about going to a salon to get this done. I would have done it myself, but I'm only really good at cutting my own hair when it's really short, and I hated the idea of messing up and wasting all that growth. Some of the sections I wanted cut were already past collarbone length! But of course the last time I wanted something like this the stylist pressured me into getting a trim, and LAYERS! As though I don't already have enough natural layers because of the way my hair grows...
So I went in guns blazing ready to defend my ends to the death.
But my stylist was WONDERFUL!!!
She asked if I wanted a trim. I said no. Before I could even explain that I was trying to grow my hair she just said OK and moved on to the next question! (never happened to me before)
She waited patiently for me to describe my neurotically specific request: face-framing layers, but very small as I didn't want them too chunky or to loose to much length, etc. I wanted to go in small increments to check progress as she cut. Start long, go shorter if need be. Maybe around Jaw length and a little higher, but I'm not even *sure*... All that jazz.
She not only spent a good long while sectioning the hair to be cut (asking, "Is this OK? Is this? Want to adjust it yourself?" the whole way) but before making the first cut (after I'd already told her about how long I wanted it) she stopped and asked me to point to where she should make the first cut. I've never felt so in control and calm during a hair cut! I never once worried. She totally understood.
Some hair stylists get into the job because they like to cut hair, some because they like to make their customers happy. She was definitely the latter. I gave her as big a tip as I could spare :)
And these are the results!

(I'm going to blend my bangs slowly as they grow out)
So pleased! It's crazy how much stress I felt over some little not even 1inch sections of hair. But the trouble was worth it I think. So simple, yet I never could have done this myself. And it's exactly what I wanted! What a miracle! :cheese:
Just wanted to share :) :) :)
ETA: She also blow-dried my hair on medium, and left it somewhat damp ("so it doesn't frizz") without me even having to ask. Another first!
