My apologies if there's already a thread like this. Mine are:

-No trimming
-Search and destroy at least once a week
-Not buy any conditioners---a seriously have enough to last me the year
-Up my cassia/henna treatments. I seriously forgot how awesome my hair looks and feels when I do them.
-Keep using my mustard oil as a pre-wash treatment

Now, what are yours?

Mine are:
Micro trim every 6 months
Wear hair up 90% of the time (need to learn some new styles:))
DT once a week
Rosemary & ACV rinse after every wash
And that's it. I think if I try to make my regime too complex I'll get fed up & just not bother!

Mine are :

To be less critical of my ends and to stop my OCD trimming and trim twice a year.

To wear it down 1-2 times a week as i live in updo's

To continue with the protein treatment twice a month it really helps my fine hair.

And finally to get to TB if possible.

Mine are :
- S&D accordingly and be watchful ( catch splits early)
- no trims in 2013
- keep up with no dye/ no heat in 2013
- try more deep treatments
- also not to go crazy buying hair products, although i know i will need maybe one or 2 bottles of more conditioner before the year is up
- wear my hair up almost all the time; currently im just trying to do it for a month, and go from there ! :)
- learn how to do more intricate braids and updos

For 2013:
1) Get dressed and put hair up BEFORE I start work. (Home work station - previous habit has been to start work in my robe with my hair hanging down, which I think I was grinding between back and chair, causing hundreds of splits.)
2) Get 1 inch trimmed off every 8-10 weeks to hopefully eliminate most splits.
3) NO S&D sessions - zero, nada, zip.

Protein treatments once a week

Always pre oil with coconut before dyeing

Use up my massive stash

Ok mine are -

No trims in 2013.
S&D regularly to catch splits early.
Wear hair up more, with a stick not elastic, especially when in work.

Think thats it.

1. Learn more updos,
I alternate between about 3 buns, an plait and leaving it down. I need to add more options!

2. Try and learn to French/Dutch braid
Builds on from 1, my lack of braiding skills is really hindering my progress with updos.

3. Chamomile Tea rinses
To be done once a week, in combination with Marilyn hair mask from Lush. Hopefully this will restore my colour somewhat

January 2nd, 2013, 09:25 AM
Not use shampoo (co wash only)

Keep up with cassia treatments

No coloring of any kind

Embrace my few Greys I have

Stretch washes to once a week

No trimming, only s& d as needed

Give up only oiling my scalp with anything because it causes too much hair fall

No heat (no flat iron no hot on blow-dry)...I don't have a bow drier but I might get one eventually.

Do Cassia treatments

clarify my hair more often
wash hair with herbal teas
eat a clean diet

- Trims. I haven't trimmed in over a year, so I will be getting a one-inch trim in 2013, maybe two. Maybe I'll trust my hairdresser to do it, maybe I'll do it myself. Haven't decided yet.
- Be more serious about S&D.

... And that's it, really. I've picked up too many good habits here these past few months to need to make resolutions. Now that's surprising.

patienceneeded
January 2nd, 2013, 09:46 AM
Nothing crazy, stick with what works!

Oil the ends a few hours before washing.
Sulfate free shampoo
Coney conditioner
Chelate/clarify if and when needed
Deep condition when needed

Top knot for sleep, even though DH laughs at it. =]

No trimming until June! S&D if needed, but NO TRIM! I will get a small trim in June when the school year ends. Grow out my bangs.

Reach Hip! (Waist first, but I'm thisclose to waist right now...)

Me resolutions...
Grow to BSL+
No heat at all this year ever.
2 Trims tops
Give up cones this year possibly...
Do more deep treatments
Limit myself to buy 2 shampoos and 2 conditioners this year... I am a product junkie my shelves are already full.

BunnyKitten
January 2nd, 2013, 11:34 AM
1. Learn some really pretty, intricate updos.

2. Wear one of these updos at least once a week

I am so bad about putting my hair up because all of the updos I know are boring and unflattering. I just always wear it down. Its at a length where that's starting to be less ideal, though. Therefore, the above resolutions :3

hafattack
January 2nd, 2013, 11:43 AM
-I am also needing to learn more updos and be more diligent about putting it up
-Try cassia for the first time
-Perhaps buy hairstick and ficcare. Although i believe 2013 will be a stingy year for me.
-Finally find a routine that works for me. This may include hair journal.
---BCL!!---

-One more.. find a heat free curl method :-)

Vampyria
January 2nd, 2013, 11:54 AM
Taking supplements regularly.
Trim only twice a year (I was considering no trims at first, but I changed my mind).
Combing from bottom to top.
Applying coconut oil to upper part of the hair too.

battles
January 2nd, 2013, 11:57 AM
-Grow to at least MBL
-Stop buying hair things, my goodness woman. I did better than last year, but still. I know what works.
-Don't cut anything myself. Step away from the scissors!
-Grow bangs into long side bangs and keep them trimmed into some reasonable shape.
-Stop washing every day. It is really drying my hair out.
-No real trims until I see my boyfriend (if it happens this year. this could be a scary resolution)..

jacqueline101
January 2nd, 2013, 11:58 AM
Be more patient, learn to embrace my hair, and keep up on my care journal. Keep going on here for help.

Vivalagina
January 2nd, 2013, 12:06 PM
- wash hair no more than every other day (hopefully get to washing only 2-3x per week)
- dilute my shampoo
- wear hair up every work day
- massage scalp with oil 1x per week
- don't buy new shampoo or conditioner until I've used up what I've got
- limit myself to buying only 1 new hair toy in 2013

I think that's about all I can hold myself to without becoming obsessive. I want to embrace benign neglect as much as I can, but I find my hair very hard to ignore hehe.

Only two:
Learn to French braid
Trim twice - March and September

PossibleMermaid
January 2nd, 2013, 12:17 PM
- Figure out my perfect routine since going CO a few months ago
- Keep up BS washes and ACV rinses
- Figure out oiling.
- Find more natural condish
- Hit APL!!

shutterpillar
January 2nd, 2013, 12:34 PM
- Continue to trim up to 1/2 inch every three months.
- Buy my very first hair fork. (which I will be doing very soon!)
- Learn more protective updos.
- Find the best way to wear my hair while sleeping at night.
- Be more consecutive with oiling my hair.
- Do not be tempted by heat styling (which is something I fell into over the holidays) and learn ways to make my slight natural wave more tame.
- Do what works best for me to make my hair healthy, and do not feel bad if I cannot stretch my washes or have success with henna.

Had to add one: grow out bangs! I need to trim them every 3 weeks and it's getting to be too much of a hassle to style them every day so they will look decent.

JadeTigress
January 2nd, 2013, 12:45 PM
Mine are:

- No trims this year, but S&D when necessary.
- Learn how to S&D. :p
- Oil my hair more often.
- Find a way to deal with my layers so that I can wear my hair up.

And make it back to BSL! Maybe waist by the end of the year, if I'm lucky!

Vanille_
January 2nd, 2013, 12:51 PM
I don't have any length goals. I would like to focus on my ends. I'd like to maintain some healthy ends by doing some small trims whenever they are feeling a bit rough. I'd also like to focus on styles this year. Now that I have the length, I should use it!

January 2nd, 2013, 12:54 PM
Mine is this: to stop talking about it so much outside LHC, as people are probably sick of hearing it. If they ask questions, though... Haha, my coworker asked about my stick the other day. I had pulled it out of my hair and he didn't know what it was. I told him it was for my hair, but if anyone was mean to me, it was for eye-poking.

January 2nd, 2013, 01:24 PM
I need to wear my hair up more often now that it's waist length.
Oil at least once a week.
I'm going to trim 2 times in 2013 because I want to keep a blunt, thick hemline.
As far as I know, I'm going to give up the dye.
I want to so hit BCL by summer.
Buy more hair sticks because I only have one. lol
Take my vitamins daily instead of sporatically.

We'll see how it goes!

January 2nd, 2013, 01:53 PM
Mine are:

Hang out on LHC often!
Keep up my regimen of supplements
Pre-oil with coconut oil before coloring my hair, even though I only apply color to the new growth.
Try out some of the NightBlooming products I've had my eye on: Panacea, Triple Moon Oil, Miruvor Long Hair Tea
S&D once a week or every couple weeks
Trim every 3 months at most, and 1/2" maximum. Trimming twice a year might be better.
Trade scalp massages with Sir Psycho (my DH) every day. He's a longhair, too :)

January 2nd, 2013, 03:03 PM
1) S&D more often and trim less often.
2) Keep after those henna roots!
3) Use catnip instead of cones, and wash less often.
4) Get to hip length.

UrbanEast
January 2nd, 2013, 03:15 PM
I know this is veering away from what most LHC people are doing but..

-Wash hair MORE often (I know, but I often wash mine every 6 weeks. Every 2 would be better.)
-Find a decent colorist in NewTown who can apply my demi-perm color to the roots to blend the grey.
-Keep it trimmed better. It's getting towards classic, which is too long for me. I'd rather have it closer to hip with thicker ends.

TheHowlingWolf
January 2nd, 2013, 05:23 PM

-Be more consistent with my routine
-Be more gentle when combing/brushing

Catch split ends early.

Deep conditioning oil treatment once a week (conditioner + oils + kitchen mash up).

White vinegar rinses after WO roots/CO lengths after gym washes.

Be slower and more gentle when combing hair after washing.

Buy hair scissors.

Use a henna-based conditioner.

Figure out nice half-up, half-down styles to wear everyday to protect the canopy but still have my hair out.

Grow to solid waist length (then hip).

Don't forget my hair likes cones.

Stop buying conditioners until I use up my stash.

Continue with vitamin supplements (Biotin, Sulfur, Silica) and micanizole nitrate onto scalp.

Massage scalp with that palm-shaped brush...

Don't obsess over length. If there's regrowth- it's getting longer.

limit heat styling to once a week at most (in reality it'll be more like once a month or so).

Hard Resolutions
-No more henna until April, at least :wail:! Ideally, my first 2013 henna would start 1st of May.
-Microtrimming and Maintaining for 6 month after reaching BSL, that I will probably split in multiple sessions to exploit the boost that spring gives to hairgrowth.
-End all the so-and-so shampoos. Maybe I can gave away the fullest bottle...
-Learn new updos and find a way to sleep in a satin scarf  - mandatory.
-Resist the urge of strangling your friend, whose hair grows twice than yours even if she brush them to death, sleep with them down, blowfries them every time and simply can't care less, when she ask you why you shed so much and grow so little even with all that pampering and benign neglect :demon:.
Easy part
-Soapnuts! A bunch of them
-Midback for Christmas... I hope.

What I'm aiming for in 2013:

Pamper my ends more, with oil and treatments
Be more regular with doing treatments.. not just when my hair is screaming for it
Learn new updos, get better at braiding (dreaming of beign able to do a crown braid)
Trimming off as much damage and layers as possible without chopping off too much length
Trimming according to the moon
Experimenting with oils, mainly I want to try castor oil on my scalp
Perfect my henna technique, find the right blend of henna and cassia
Hopefully reach waist length!

Try to wash my hair every 2/3 days instead of everyday
Keep a proper record of my growth
To stop going on about hair stuff to my family and my boyfriend - think they might have had enough lol

1. Keep up the begin neglect. It works, my hair is growing, and feels great. Leave well enough alone.
2. Not get so obsessed with my hair again that it being imperfect upsets me. (I keep falling into this trap to the point my partner refuses to talk to me about my hair at all)
3. Be more gentle when I do actually comb/brush it out (I typically finger detangle in the shower, let it air dry and put it up, only to redo it each morning by finger combing it back in place).

Exercise three times a week (aerobic).
Don't length check. I'm a curly so I want to length check, I flat iron--and my chronically dry hair ends (last two inches) get even dryer and start to fall off like rain. I know I should cut them off, but I do want to get to armpit length before I do that. And I'm very close...

January 5th, 2013, 07:16 PM
I just made a new resolution. NO heat, except for the flat iron on my bangs when they are in a bad mood. Giving up the hairdryer would be a HUGE accomplishment for me if I can follow through!

Continue my pre-wash oilings, no-sulfate shampoo, no-cone conditioner, and deep conditioner.
Wash no more than twice a week!! (Down from 3 times)
Continue no-dyeing and no heat.
Start keeping my hair in updos while I sleep.
Start keeping my hair in updos generally.
Be more gentle while my hair is still wet.
Eat healthier and start to exercise!!
Get my hair cut once a year, and stop touching the ends all the time.
Start taking silica.
Hopefully I'll reach BSL in one year's time!!!

My 2013 Hair Resolutions are:
- Continue the daily scalp massages
- Henna my roots every 2 months instead of every 4 or 5 (basically, stop being lazy, lol!)
- Eat more greens/vegetables in my diet
- Exercise at least 3 times a week to improve circulation and body tone (and maybe hair growth!)
- No trims, S&D if needed
- Wear my hair braided to bed at night or in a top knot, no more sleeping with it down!
- Maybe get a satin sleep bonnet?
- Reach solid BSL and get a good head start towards waist for next year
- Regular deep conditioning/oiling treatments again, I really slipped last year and I know my hair loves them so I need to keep doing them!
- Love my hair more every day <----- Most important!

I want to completely stop my trichotillomania this year too, but know from past experience that making it a competition does not work well for me, it creates stress which leads to hair pulling, so instead, this year, I'm simply learning to love my hair more every single day. So far I don't know what I'll do for myself if I make it an entire year without pulling out my hair (although that in itself is a reward!), but will seriously start considering possibilities if I make it to my 1 year anniversary in July without having pulled any. Wish me luck, and I am doing the same to all of you too!

January 5th, 2013, 11:22 PM
I have been working out and eating healthy...definitely beneficial for hair!
Also, I got a tangle-teezer and have resolved to brush my hair with it every single day (I'm usually a benign neglecter).

My hair has been much shinier and lovelier as a result, and my scalp has never been happier! Keep it up, folks!

trolleypup
January 5th, 2013, 11:54 PM
S&D more than twice a year...because running a fine-toothed comb through is a really good thing.

Since I am off WO, washing hair once a week before it goes totally OOS.

Other than that, maintain the benign neglect.

ETA: Keep growing...except that I'm not in control of that. Other than living well and avoiding so much stress...

1. More S&D.
2. Give up monthly trims and do only microtrims.
3. Keep taking hair vitamins.
That's all. :) I hope I'll get really close to knee length by the end of this year. :D

Mine are:
- Oil before washing, even if it's just a little bit (so not necessarily a heavy oiling every time)
- Oil hair lightly before putting it in an updo (makes it nice and shiny and is good for the hair and my hair will be oiled when I shampoo, win-win-win)
- Don't buy any more serums/conditioners/shampoo! Unless I run out of course, then I'll allow myself to buy what's on sale that week.
- Trim my own ends this month, and then go to the hairdresser's in the summer
- Wear hair up more (maybe 1-2 days a week of wearing it down, braids count as up for me)
- Don't stress as much, it can't be good for my hair (and for me in general)

1. Take 3 prenatal vitamins daily.
2. Wash & condition every 10 days. Airdry. Oil lightly all over, days 3 & 7 between washs.
3. A good brushing to detangle and for circulation daily.
4. SMT once a month if not twice.
5. Wear it up.

~Head to fingertip length and maintain there for thickness.
~Learn more buns.
~Continue routine of CO and benign neglect.
~Love it the way it chooses to be, not try to force it to be what I want.

My goal is to be more gentle when handling my hair. I'm very good at using my tangle teezer on wet hair and using it to rip through my hair- even though it's better than a normal brush or comb but I notice the damage from it. Everything else I do by the LHC bible. Since my hair is fine, curly and dry it is breakage prone and really fragile :(

Here are mine for 2013:

- more up-dos, I tend to leave my hair down and as it gets longer (I'm closing in on APL), I definitely need to keep it more protected.

- DT once a week. I used to be religious about them, and I've become a bit lazy, so I'm going back to them, they do make a difference for me.

- learning some new braids

- more regular trims and S&Ds to keep my hair in good shape, which means I won't end up cutting it all off like I tend to do once I get to APL and beyond...!

Good luck to everyone with their hair goals!

Ah, I thought there must be a resolutions thread!

I'm a bit late here but I only just thought of one as I henndigoed at the weekend:

Remember to henndigo every 4-6 weeks. I always leave it way too long (this time was 4 months!) and so I have tons of regrowth and a fair bit of fading.

Another couple would be to oil more often as I've been noticing my ends being a lot drier recently, and to try and wear more different styles day to day. I know quite a few but I always seem to wear a nautilus :)

Don't chop off my hair to a cute pixie.
Only trim a little.
Say NO to layers.
Learn more braids.
And no dye.
