urgent question!! Keep growing out bangs, or cut them back in??

Ugh, I keep doing this. I've had bangs most of my life, and I keep trying to grow them out, but then I miss them. I need advice. Should I go back to bangs, or keep going? :(

Pros: bangs hide my really short/slanted forehead, the face-framing layers help out my face a bit
Cons: hard to manage, prone to bad-hairday-nes, make my face wider, very permanent

I like without bangs, and they're not permanent. Just hang in there with growing.

I think the bangs are super cute, but if they're too much of a hassle, go for no bangs, because I think you look great either way.

I especially like that photo of you with twin herringbones (? or were those 5-strands?).

I generally think that you should grow them out! You look good with bangs but they make you look super young. Plus, the reason I think I'll grow mine out is that I would have to trim them every other day.... and that hassle made them not really worth it.

Plus, I don't see the slanted forehead that you speak of :wigtongue

If anything, maybe try some side swept bangs like in the first picture. I think you look great with or without them, so I'd go for the low-maintenance option myself.

I have been in your shoes many times!!!! I think long side swept bangs suit you. You have big, beautiful eyes...don't hide them. The short thick bangs are too distracting. So I vote no bangs or long side swept bangs.

I seem to be in the minority here, but I think bangs suit you better, especially the sideswept ones. But there's nothing wrong with growing them out for a change, you're still pretty without them. And if you realise after growing them out that you miss them, you can just go back to having bangs again! :)

I think you should let them grow, or at least do sideswept; your eyebrows are quite striking and bring attention to your beautiful "liquid" eyes!
Straight-across bangs would hide this...play up your eyes and eyebrows!

I think I'm going to keep growing my bangs. This is an insecurity thing, I'm sure. Mostly because I don't like my forehead. Bangs are sort of like sweatpants for me. :lol:
But hiding it with bangs tends to not work out very well in the long run... Besides, though bangs can look great some of the time, most of the time I end up looking like this

There are some pieces of my hair that are shorter than the rest (the remnants of the bangs I had ~2 years ago, grown out) but so much longer than my bangs that they fall forward and get in the way all the time, not to mention they look pretty sloppy. I'm tempted to cut them to blend with my bangs more to create a softer transition from bangs to length instead of this stark and obvious END of bangs, complete with awkward too-long pieces... But it's just such a hard choice. I mean, I spent so long growing those bits that I hate to cut them, even if it is to even out my hairstyle...

I have had bangs all my life. My forehead is higher than yours. The hair there is also thin. If I could grow them out and look great, I would, but I just wouldn't. You have a choice. Go bangless for a while. Give it some time. You can always cut another fringe. The bang pics sure are cute, but then, again, you are smiling in them.

The very first pic with bangs is super cute -- very Zooey Deschanel-esque. In one of your pics, you had glasses on -- I find I struggle with having no bangs AND glasses ... sometimes it feels too severe.

Honestly I feel I look more "severe" with glasses AND bangs, which is one of the many reasons I want(ed) to grow them out. I wear contacts most of the time, but I'd like to feel more comfortable in glasses, and I think I definitely look best in glasses when I don't have bangs...

What I did was make them more side-swept and heavily use thinning sheers (on the ends of the bulky bangs only!) to help blend them and then I just forgot about them. Mine are now collarbone length while the rest of my hair is MBL. I don't trim the bangs anymore but do pay extra attention to them when S&D-ing.

Both look totally cute but I think the bangs give you a more modern edgy look and they absolutely don't make your face look wide. The kind of side bangs in picture 1 looks awesome and current ^^ without bangs gives a kind of classy look. I guess it depends what you're going for.

Don't most people have a rounded forehead side slant? my mom has it and I think it's cute. It's a cute rounded slope unlike my dramatic one that looks like a landslide. :P you're being way too hard on yourself.

I think you have such a gorgeous face that the bangs kind of cover it up. Voting no bangs just because of that. No bangs really brings out your eyes and the beautiful arching of your brows. :)

I think you should have longg side swept bangs! Basically grow them past your chin, that way u can work them into ur hair when u want but have the aspect of bangs when u don't :P

I really like you with them. And as far as taming them, go to the beauty supply and get Head Games Mesed-Up Madness. It's supposed to be a texturizing putty, but when I had bangs--I'm a curly--it tamed them without being greasy. I loved the smell, kind of like an eraser, lol. I last bought it 3 years ago, but I think they still make it.

I personally get tired of the no bang look and I feel i look too severe with all my hair pulled back. So I cut bangs in and I like them a bit longish so I can keep them tucked behind my ears if I need to. My stylist gives me free bang trims-- in fact, the salon offers them for free if you have a stylist you visit there even if its once a year. In that aspect, it doesn't bother me at all.

But when I can't stop by and they get in my eyes.. GRRR!

ps: I would get clip in bangs but I feel I'd be wearing them every day anyway, so.. mreh.

I've never heard of clip-in bangs! I'll look it up...

So I guess I'm going to keep growing my bangs out. When they get long enough (maybe jaw length) I'll go to a salon and get them turned into face-framing layers. I like how I look with a little bit of fringe left out of an updo. I guess I'll just have to get used to my forehead.

I just hate that I've literally seen only three other women with foreheads like this. I see men with slanted foreheads all the time for some reason. But only one of my friends, my own mother, and a hostess at a local restaurant have foreheads like this. And believe me, I keep on the lookout all the time! Jeez, it's just beautiful high, straight homo sapien foreheads everywhere. (One of my departments is anthropology, and one of the defining traits of homo sapiens is a high, flat forehead [e.g., emma watson (http://wallpaper.pickywallpapers.com/kindle-dx/emma-watson-profile.jpg)] whereas the kind of forehead I, and many other irish and scandinavian people, have is a hallmark of neanderthals lol. I fixate...)
