View Full Version : Have you known that paraffin can make your hair...

... really moisturized, silky and shiny?? I've just discovered it! It's cosmetic paraffin sold in drug stores - there are those with vitamin A & E and those with castor oil. I use it this way: I do pre-wash oiling, leave it for about 20 minutes and wash with claryfing shampoo/ Then I only do an ACV rinse. And I'm soooooo in love with the effect:p Even my mom asked 'What did you do to your hair?!'

ok, im confused. You dipped your hair in paraffin wax? If so considering how hot that stuff is I would think after awhile it may have ill effects on your hair, plus it leaves a small coating of wax behind correct?

I Googled this out of curiosity and it seems that liquid paraffin wax is mineral oil. Although I'm certain this gives you a wonderful sheen I certainly wouldn't use this on my skin and I would probably be sure to clarify on occasion if I used it on my hair just as one would do when using cones on the hair.

I believe paraffin oil is basically mineral oil.

It's called mineral oil here. What is called paraffin here is generally solid or cream consistency.

Many people avoid it as it requires a sulfate shampoo to remove. If it works for you then that's great. ^_^

Oh, I wondered that... Dictionary said 'paraffin' though:shrug: But still can work great for those who use sulfate shampoos:bigtongue:

lmao :rollin: I am used to hearing parafin for like hands and such. I have never heard of liquid stuff.

Just bought jasmine scented liquid paraffin for hair and I searched the forums and found this. Anyone else have more information about this? And sulfate shampoos being needed to remove it? Thanks!

Seems like it's just mineral oil. I'm sure there's a mineral oil thread on here....hang on, I'll find it.
