View Full Version : How long was your hair when you found TLHC?

Was it short, and you were looking for tips to grow long hair? Or, was your hair long already? Maybe some where in between?
My hair was short. I had decided to grow my hair long, and was searching the web for some tips. I found TLHC, read alot, and joined about 6 months later.
What is your story? How did you find TLHC?

Mine was BSL but damaged from heat-styling. I babied it along with teeny-tiny trims to almost waist, then snapped from fighting with Velcro ends every day and cut back to APL in October 2005. It has been pretty smooth growing from there.

Approaching waist. It was about 3/4 a year after my last cut (to just under BSL), and I don't really remember what prompted me to find this place... Guess I got tired of the braid it was always in, and started to look for new styles.

I think I may end up following your path. Baby the ends and do micro-trims until I gain some decent length, then consider cutting back more once I feel I have enough length to be able to afford to lose a bit. It seems the best option for the condition and length of my hair right now.

Mine was a little past BSL. I'd been actively growing for about 8 months before that, and it had grown due to benign neglect even before that. I found and joined the LJ longhair community first.

I was at BSL and looking for updo instructions. I was actually planning on having it cut soon (as I had been growing to BSL and then cutting to APL for a few years as I thought beyond BSL was "too long") and it was mostly procrastination that had stopped me. Eventually after maybe a month of lurking and changing my opinion about long hair I delurked and decided to grow it really long.
I'm still very glad that I didn't get that haircut as I'd only be around BSL now instead of waist.
There's a photo of my hair about a month after joining on the left of my signature. So it wasn't that short but I've never had it properly long before.

Waist. I was looking for new styles that I could wear to work, and joined because it was so refreshing to find a community in which my hair was not considered freakishly long and when was I going to get it cut?

Shoulder; I just cut my hair again and was clueless what to do. It never completely felt like 'me'... I just never had the patience to just grow and give up on the sciccors forever. When I found Longhair boards a whole new world opened, and from one day to another I decided to start the long journey to long hair, and so far I've never looked back.

A bit above BSL layered, I stumbled across it through some LiveJournal links and sheer boredom. I've been at a routine growing from shoulder to BSL *chop chop* shoulder to BSL *chop chop* bob to BSL *chop chop* for most of my life, and this was the first time it occurred to me...wait, what if I didn't get it cut this time? Uncharted territory!
I've had one cut since to even it up, so I remain in BSL territory, practicing patience.;)

Mine was hip length and starting shed badly, I lost over an inch in thickness that year, it's growing back...sloooowly. I was growing it longer already after cutting it from tailbone to waist, and was searching for information on oiling and buns.

It was in a chinlength bob that I'd grown out from a pixie. I would never have dared to think of growing it much longer, but now I am very nearly at waist. I got the best inspiration and encouragement for that as my aim from the first meet I attended and now I'm just carrying on until I get fed up of it.

Mine was at waistlength when I stumbled across LHC. I was googling for images of 'niphredil' and that led me here... I was amazed and delighted to find a community of people who love long hair. Was inspired to take better care of mine, and to grow to longer lengths. :)

I originally lurked at the LHC 8 years ago when my hair was about 34". I adopted a lot of practices then (safe shampooing, not combing when wet, safe hair toys, et). Since then, I have done a lot of damage with dye and kept cutting it back mistakingly thinking that I was making it healthier . Now, I am nearly 10 inches shorter and finally learning about safe ways to dye my hair (yippee for henna!) and am determined to get it long and healthy :D!

Between BSL and waist, I came across the site when looking for ways to put up my hair (I think some of the others mentioned the same thing). I'm so glad I did, because before I used to cut back to APL or so just to be able to put my hair up/out of the way... Turns out I like my hair much better longer... I'm a little past waist now (for the longest layers).

Oh, I got sidetracked when I replied to Spidermom's post. But my hair was barely shoulder length in the back and the bangs would not quite reach to my chin if I pulled and stretched them down.
My length in the back isn't all that much longer now because I keep trimming it as the layers and bangs grow out so that it doesn't look too straggly on the ends. I'm to the point now where this is not all that necessary now, the layers don't look too bad not but since I've only been at LHC for 7 months, there obviously hasn't been a great deal of change just yet.
I think I found the site when I was looking up hairsticks and long hair care information. After a while I found that whenever I Googled for an answer on a hair question I kept coming back to this site. So I bookmarked the site and lurked for a month or two before finally deciding to join. I'm glad I did, this is a nice place to hang out, learn and socialize a bit.

I was just barely at APL. Although I've been "growing" my hair for years, I never had the right info to actually grow my hair and breakage was always a big issue. I first found no poo and while researching that, I stumbled on to this group.

Just a bit longer than shoulder length. I'm not sure how I found the site, though I think it was through the longhair LJ group.
Now, two and a half years later, my hair is very rapidly approaching hip length. I mostly practice benign neglect, and have it trimmed about once a year.

Mine was almost at waist. I've been growing it since I was 12, and was taking good care of it more out of laziness than anything else. (Do you know how long it *takes* to blow-dry my hair? Easier to air-dry.)

My hair was between APL and BSL when I first found LHC. I actually didn't find it from the hair-care aspect. I was a real obsessive lurker over at the essential day spa forums, and they were talking about the oil-cleansing method as it had been going on over here. You see, I'm really into natural DIY beauty so I don't for the life of me know why I didn't extend that concern to my hair as well.
My hair was frizzy, messy, I blowdried every day. I trimmed about 3" of velcro-ends every month. I used cones, sulphates, the like. I just thought that I naturally had ugly hair. When I came over here to read about OCM, I got sucked into the hair-care boards. I lurked for about a year before joining at the beginning of this year. Look how far I've come!

My hair was/is just shy of TBL (I found TLHC in July and joined at the start of August). I think it may have reached terminal length, but I hope some of the wisdom I am picking up in the fora will impart greater health (and maybe a little more length?;)) to my hair. This is such a gentle, knowledgeable, and diverse community -- I'm glad I found it.:flower:

I googled "long hair older woman" and found LHC. I was looking for info on growing my very short hair long. A support system like this with like-minded cyber-friends makes it seem like I can accomplish my goal.
I joined this July after lurking for a couple of months. I have this site as my home page so I visit multiple times a day. I've belonged to several forums over the years and find this one the most friendly and with lots of interesting subjects.

I was about two inches or so shy of bsl when I joined. I have had long hair most of my life, but shaved it in high school and that was as long as it had come back since then . I had never really decided to grow it back long.
I actually stumbled here through a series of links stemming from one of my friends blogs on Myspace about how she was going to give up shampoo. And I once I found it, I joined and decided to grow my hair. Er, not in that order.

A bit past shoulder length when I started lurking in October; BSL when I finally joined in April. I first found it while following a link about OCM that was posted on Mothering.com. I was inspired by all the beautiful long hair I found here and decided, shortly after having my first cut in a year (new baby -- I got busy) to let it grow on purpose for awhile.

Last September my hair was the longest that it has ever been, at waist length. I went to donate 10 inches to Locks of Love. The hair dresser didn't notice the super kinky hair underneath and ended up taking 15 inches off in her attempt to even things out. My hair was chin length when I left. I missed my long hair almost immediately. I found LHC a couple days after that when I Googled "How to make your hair grow faster."

My hair was shoulder length. Only fractionally shorter than it is now as it doesn't grow very fast and last year I had a lot of breakage and a trim of a good couple of inches.
I honestly can't remember how I came across long hair forum.

When I found LHC? Waist plus. I went to tailbone then cut to shoulder length. Grew out to tailbone again and cut to mid-back. Grew to nearly hip then cut to shoulder length. Currently growing again and just hit BSL. All since 2005. Oh, and I was a brunette when I found LHC.

I guess it was at about hip length, while searching for new updo and braid styles. I think the very first time I found this site it was via google, but it also could have been a link from another long hair site... lots of links are leading to the forums. It took some time to finally register, though. Reanimating old English skills from school was (and still is sometimes) tough.

I was linked here by someone (who I dont know who it was) and joined because I love long hair and wanted to grow longer. I was stalled at waist at the time. I treated it nicely and my growth took off. I got frustrated 12 months ago and chopped 7-8 inches off and now Im mostly back where I cut to plus a little. (I cut more than I intended then!)

I just joined recently after lurking for a few months.
I've been trying to grow my hair for about 9 years. It seems that every 4 years, or every time it gets to around APL, I have such horrible shedding/breakage that I feel I have to cut back to chin length to hide its thinness. This time I said 'no more!' and googled "long hair care" searching for help, which is when I found the LHC...
Still around APL, but there's lots of new growth and very little shedding or breakage so looking forward to a thicker APL and then on to waist thanks to all of you.

My hair was a little bit below shoulder when I found this forum, I was searching the internet for hair care info. I found a curly site with info about CO about the same time. At first I did not think about growing my hair but I found it interesting to read advice and look at pictures, then suddenly I started to long for long hair my self. That's when I decided to register as a member.
I never thought my hair would look good long, but now I think that I should try, it might not be bad at all.

Mine was probably about 7" shorter than it is now--maybe more. When I found the site I was looking to minimize splits & get some more education on long-hair-care. I also had been growing my hair out & thanks to LHC, my hair is longer than it has ever been in my whole life! (Plus--it looks better than it did growing up)
Which ever scientist said that hair looks its best in the teens & 20's never knew about LHC! Maybe we should seek him out, send him a memo & have him take it back. . . *wink*

My hair was shoulder length and I was looking for a salon to give me hair extensions when I came across LHC. I've been hooked ever since and decided to grow my hair instead of getting the extensions. (I have to admit that I did buy some clip in ones for fun recently and I love them for adding thickness.)

My hair was somewhere between BSL and waist. I came here to figure out a way to make it less poofy and grow it out and make it healthy-looking. I think I googled "growing long hair" or something vague like that. The name stood out to me because LHC also stands for Large Hadron Collider which was where I was working at the time I started trying to improve my hair.

Hmm... well I found TBB looking for threads on the OCM maybe two months ago. So I'd guess my hair was about an inch shorter since it grows well (maybe slightly less, I was at the end of my pregnancy so my body's metabolic processes were focused elsewhere ;)).

My hair was at APL with such a deep V-shape that the front of my hair was shoulder length. I did want to grow it longer, I had just quit heat styling for the first time, so I found this site when I was trying to learn how to do some updos. Back then I didn't even know how to use a hairstick.
Also, I was fascinated by the hair care advice.
I've had some adventures with colour since I joined, and I've twice had fairly major cuts, so my hair isn't really that much longer now then it was then. :)

I think mine was about 25" and I was on myspace asking for hairstyle ideas because I was going to get it cut soon. A friend told me about this site and posted a link to a picture of someone whos hair she admired. Sadly because I didn't have an account/post cout/ect I couldn't view the picture and I got my hair cut.
I didn't get that much off the actual length, but I specifically asked for no more an 1/2 an inch off the bottom and I think what happened is the stylist started the layers too high, realized it, and decided to leave the length I asked for despite how the style looked. I ended up with heavy layers that started just under my ears and ended below my shoulders... then 4inches of super thin unlayered hair. I had to get it cut up to my shoulders to fix the look.

Mine was a little past BSL, and I was growing it out again a few years after an arm-twisting LoL donation. (A girl in a few of my classes with hair longer than mine organized it and donated -- I knew I wouldn't hear the end of it unless I agreed, and wasn't particularly committed to long hair at that point.)
I came across LHC back when casual browsers could get to the off-topic stuff; I was looking for alternate menstrual cup folds and hit on that massive thread. I was aware of ILHC and another (now non-existent) page with all kinds of good advice for growing hair long, but I think it was LHC that really cemented in my mind that I wanted my hair to be unusually long.
Now I'm at a high tailbone, longer that I've ever had it, and growing strong. I feel like growing my hair to some incredible length is both an affirmation of femininity and a late-onset personal rebellion against societal standards.

Found, not sure, but I'm assuming BSL, as I know I had come across hair forums well before I joined. The first time was probably in 2001 or 2002, before the board split, and I came across LHC in late spring or early summer of 2003, but didn't join.
When I actually joined (Four years ago in about a month), it was tailbone (32.5"), but I got self-conscious and the first few days I trimmed off 1.5" in about 3-4 small trims, which put it more like hip (and changed my 'starting' length to 31" ). And I banned trimming.
I was mainly looking for ways to put my hair up. That didn't quite work, but as I was already into the 'forget the ends, I'm gonna see how long it'll grow' mindset, went ahead and joined.

I lurked for probably four months before the boards went down and after I finished getting upset over it, I forgot about LHC until kwaniesiam started a henna thread on BAF. We started PMing about henna, hairsticks, updos and such and she mentioned LHC, which was back up by then. I lurked some more, finally joined, and my hair was probably shoulder to apl, heavily layered (mullet-esque, really, from the cut I was growing out) then.

Just started seriously growing my hair out so it's only an inch/inch and a half longer than where it started, but hey, compared to the inch long length it was for years it's gloriously long now (Although cockroaches will have taken over the earth as the dominant sentient species by the time it gets long enough to actually, you know, put up into a braid or updo I think. But I will have the most fabulous hair of all the surviviors of the Great Human/Cockroach Wars in my area.). I was just over a year after shaving my head, and googling to find out how fast hair grows. Only curiosity, I hadn't decided yet if I was going to stick with short hair or go long again, and never dreamed of REALLY long. Ran across LHC accidentally and was in disbelief at some of the lengths here and very curious. Looked around a lot because I'm so curious, and eventually it started to grow (haha) on me.

I found LHC two days after I cut my BSL hair down to two inches all over. I didn't decide to grow it out again for a year. I would like my long(ish) hair back, but I don't regret cutting it, because now I know I don't like it short and can spend my energy growing it out, rather than wondering if I should cut it.

I think it was somewhere around 26in/bsl(it'll be under my name on the left anyway), around the end of July last year when i joined. I was looking for hairstyles for long hair(thinking, at the time, that bsl was long -a year+ of LHC has changed that perception somewhat), found this site and never left, although I mostly lurk.

I *thought* it was shoulder length. Took it out of the pony to measure (I never took it down from a ponytail; I'd take it out, brush, and put it straight back up again) and found that it was almost BSL.

My hair was hip length, and I had been thinking about getting it cut for some time, because, after all, it just "hung there" I had to braid it, and it got much more tangled. I probably would have gone to somewhere around BSL, but I found TLHC first, and was so glad that I hadn't cut it.

I had cut off my dreadlocks Feb.07 and was trying to manage my uneven hair as it was growing back out. Finally got a decent even, although layered, cut last Nov.07.
I was a member of a dreadlock forum that promoted natural dreadlocks, no wax etc, motto "leave your hair alone".
I googled "long hair" and found this place, joined right away :)
I have had long hair in the past and want it back!

It was about APL (pics in my album...).
I actually surfed on a love&other stuff forum. Someone posted a link to a fashion forum, where I stayed for a while. There was a thread about growing the hair long, where someone posted a link to a german hair-forum. I was bored and so I had a look at this forum and actually found out that I wanted long hair again... the forum went offline, I was looking for another place to hang out, and that is why I am here..

When I found this wonderful place my hair was shoulder length. Today it's bout 31" and almost to my waist. I'm going gray. My ends don't show much gray and have my old natural medium brown with some auburn in natural light. I'm about half gray at the scalp. I can see the passage of time in my hair.

When I joined this board my hair was 31" and I found it as I wondered if there were other people out there whom felt the same way about long hair or was I alone. When I found the site I lurked for a couple of weeks to get the general feel about the board and since then I have never looked back. It is great to belong to a group of people who think that long hair is ok especially when your that bit older like myself.

mine was pretty short. Probably 1 inch all over. I wanted to grow my hair since getting married. Somehow, it ended up being really short. So, I decided to find a place that could inspire me to have long hair. So, I did the only thing I could do. I Googled. That led me here (this is getting really long isn't it?) where I found some pretty hair to ogle at.

I joined not to long ago i was looking for up do instructions and some how i found my way here. It has been so nice to find LHC ware long hair is accepted, my sister is alwasy telling my to get it cut and to do something trendy with it (not that I was ever tempted to do such a thing). I think it is about 36" at the moment i'm considering growing it out longer not sure what i want to do. I'm seeing so many beautiful ideas I'm being inspired!

Mine was at a low BSL, 27" if I remember correctly. It was finally back to my "normal" length, following an LoL chop a few years before. I think I joined very near to the same time I first hennaed, and the board had lots of information on that.
I actually stumbled across LHC back when everyone could view the off-topic forums. I was looking for alternative menstrual cup folds and came across that monster thread. Kept browsing LHC and decided to sign up.

Mine is past BSL now, actually braided at BSL extactly. I would like to get it to waist, maybe a bit longer. I don't think I will go further as I don't want do sit on my hair when I forget to get it out of my way when very long ;-)
I found LHC when I was looking for updo instructions, was reading for a few days and decided to join.
I try to wear my hair up most of the time, it really helps me to reduce split.
I love all the style instructions and I try to learn new ones. Before LHC, I mostly wore my hair twisted in a large claw. OK, OK, I admit, I still do it now, but only because I'm definitely not a morning person and need to get all the hair out of my face in the morning quickly ;-)
But I managed a chinese bun, a few hairstick variations, rope braid and even my first french braid. It was not very nice and symmetrical, but definitely recognizable as such...
I like the community very much, how different people from all over the world join and help and support each other without any prejudice of any kind. And, most of all, having fun!

I guess mine was about shoulder blade length or so.
I actually did a search online for long hair care and LHC popped up.
Then after I joined and began to learn so much, I decided then that I wanted to let my hair grow longer, I didn't really have a set length in mind and still really don't.
After seeing so many beautiful heads of hair here and learning about *really* taking good care of it, I became obessed with learning all that I could.
I also felt like I was "among friends" here.
I mean, you just don't see that many people my age with long hair and LHC gave me a place to feel like I belonged and didn't stand out from the crowd so much.
Not to mention the wealth of information!

Mine was at BSL exactly, I had just had a cut to get rid of damage, and got some layers too. I told the hairdresser that I wanted to keep the length. Later I realized that I really wanted to have longer hair, about waist length. My hair had a tendency to get very dry and brittle when long, especially at the back of my head so i went searching for hair care tips for long hair. I found this page, and it was perfect:)
Now I have made a lot of changes in my haircare, and I have started to read the ingredients lists on hair and body products. My skin is doing much better too because of LHC!
(Please excuse the long rambling post, I am just so happy to have a treasure chest of wonderful tips and information to keep hair and skin healthy)

My hair was about the same length it is now: TB and growing longer. I joined more for support I think...to be with 'other long hairs & long hair wannabees'(worshippers...lol...j/k!)
I was getting a little agravated due to my co-workers always picking on me about my hair and my bun not being within standard regulated length & width among other comments. SO after watching a Tyra Banks show and witnessing a girl with floor length hair getting her hair chopped off up to her jaw it made me think. "How long is too long to have your hair?", when is it considered as being a health risk or something to that affect?
So I googled "how long is too long" and a forum had the words I was looking for so I clicked on the link and read all the comments discusing hair and one person mentioned this site talking about how some of the pictures of the long haired were 'freaky' or 'scary' looking. So I checked out the forum and I have yet to see any hair that I would call 'freaky' or 'scary' looking. And now here I am!

My hair was 25" and APL curly but I had been trying to grow it for years and years. I thought it wasn't growing but the ends were either breaking off and most likely, my growth was being sabotaged by hairdressers. Now I am taking better care of my hair and trimming it myself and it has grown 5" in seven months with three microtrims!

Mine was about 20 inches, and I was in the process of growing out color. My hair had face framing layers and the style looked great. Eventually my view evolved to wanting one length longer virgin hair, which it is now, except for my fringe.

I too was googling "long hair" like Spidermon :) and I was almost waist then (about 30").

Mine was about waist when I stumbled onto here, I bleached it in high school and hated it, so I just let it grow out. I'm sure I looked rather funny for a while, but after that I just kinda left it alone and it grew without me noticing! Of course now that I'm looking forward to getting it longer it seems to have slowed to a halt :p

Well, I just joined a month ago, so it's below shoulder length - around 19 inches or so. (I can't measure worth a hoot).
I was looking for hair care tips as my hair is somewhat fragile due to health issues, found this site and loved it!

:) Well, I decided to grow for broke so to speak after having treated my hair like an enemy more than a friend for a few years...I got tired of the color/cut cycle and my hair just didn't like me any more. It stopped being pretty and it stopped feeling nice so what was the point? I needed to start over. That was about 2 years ago and now my hair is all natural.
Since I'm new, my hair is 24 inches and I would most like to reach 40 inches (from BSL to Hip Length) I can decide if that's long enough when I get there. A friend of mine from another forum who is a long hair introduced me to this site and I'm hooked!!

Though I just joined, I actually discovered LHC back in July. Mine was armpit length at the time, but looked shorter due to the incredible amount of layering. I was never a hair person at all and found LHC accidentally through another beauty community. Seeing all the beautiful hair here made me determined to grow mine too. :)

I was at waist. I'd been a member of the long hair community on LJ for a long time and this place is recommended all the time over there so I finally made the move over.

A little past my shoulders after a horrific "trim". It wasn't really a trim since 14 inches came off. Now it is a little past waist after 4 years due to trims and maintaining while it thickens up.

Mine was just under two inches shorter than it is now. I joined because I was looking for relatively simple updos I could do (I have stupid hands) and got intrigued by some of the things people were using in their hair.
Don't get me wrong - I've used eggs and mayo before, and I've heard of avocado and bananas, but oil and honey for some reason never crossed my mind. :) The strangeness of it kept me here.

Just barely below the shoulders. I've literally gained about a foot and a half of hair since then but lost it all to trims to get rid of bleach damage, avoidable breakage, layers, and thinning (not the pretty fairytale look either) ends.

Above shoulder length, bleach and flat iron fried...when I actually signed up probally a bit shorter (from pixie) and less healthy when I started. Reading posts and trying diffrent things, like not ploping my hair on top of my head to wash :)

Mine was (and still is) short. I had had shoulder length hair for about a year, and had decided that I wanted to go back to long. (Long hair just looks better on me. I don't know why. It just does.) I was looking for some updos for when it got long, so that I wouldn't get bored again (why I cut it the first time), and found this place!

Way back then LHC was LHL. That was in 1999. I was growing out a horrible layered Jennifer Anniston cut and was new to the internet. I started looking up long hair tips and eventually landed at LHL and then migrated to LHC.

If I recall, mine was virgin and about waist length. I'd already been growing it out for several years when I found LHC. I do not believe I would have gotten to this length though, if it wasn't for LHC and the great hair care tips I learned!

Hi paper!
I found this forum last March (I'll hit my year mark soon). My hair was approaching TBL (I was growing out layers). In the summer (after all that yummy quick growth) I went temporarily insane (I already voiced my sadness in the "No Trimming" thread) chopped my hair to APL. The only positive thing I can say is that I get to start over fresh with a perfect hemline.
Happy Growing!

I was at 20 inches... May 2004
I was growing out extreme damage. The year before I completely damaged my hair with bleach, so I was on my way to healthier hair, but it was still quite brittle. I also wasn't grey at that time and I began to play with herbal hennas after coming here.
But I did a lot of trimming! I kept it hovering about 22 inches, not wanting too but needing to, until finally five years later I reached 23 inches! And I have been growing slowly but steady since... I'm now at 28 inches... feeling long... but I hope to make tb once again.

My hair was several inches from tailbone when I found LHC. I'll have been here for 2 years come January.
The first year, my hair grew from my hips to classic (I suspect this was because I my protein intake was much higher than it was this year). On the last day of 2009, I cut my classic-length hair back to tailbone to rid myself of damage and frayed layers. It's only been in the last month that I found a single split.
The bulk of my hair will likely reach classic again before the year is through, but no drastic cuts this time! I'm looking forward to it. :flower:

I think I was mid- to lower-back. I was looking around on the internet for primarily "long hair for guys" support, secondly on very long hair in general, and somehow stumbled in on this forum. That was years ago though, but I've only recently made an account here.

I was at bsl but with some damage from bad hair brushes and elastics. I had crunchy ends and no clue why and I was looking for hair growing tips so I checked into it online, found the lhc, chopped my hair to apl and picked up a ton of new healthy hair habits. Even though it's short for me I gotta say, my hair looks better than it ever has. I just love this place =]

About BSL.
I was Googlin' about how to keep my hair healthy, grow faster, etc. and most of the results lead me back to here. So I lurked around for about 2 months, and I finally joined last week, I think! :p

I just joined last week. My hair is juuuust below BSL, which is the longest it's been since I was 7 years old.
I was looking for tips on growing out my hair, and maybe getting it to grow faster on another forum, when one of the members there directed me here.
I've been trying to grow my hair out long for a long time, but I always got frustrated and cut it off, at one point I shaved my head!
I was convinced my hair was too fine and grew too slow to ever get it really really long, but THLC has convinced me otherwise, and now I take very good care of my hair and I hope to grow it out as long as it will go!

I used to go between short shoulder length and APL/BSL-ish regularly, depending on how long I went between haircuts. When I decided to grow my hair, it was after my last haircut back up to short shoulder (17"), but when I actually found LHC it was roughly 26" at the longest layer (I'm guestimating - it was BSL-ish).

My hair was waist length. I'd kept it longish for years as it used to be very curly and that was the only way I keep keep it under any control but I also left it down all the time so I had quite a bit of damage to deal with!

I don't know exactly how long it was, as I found LHC over two years before I joined, when I still had extensions. It took a year of lurking to finally convince me to take them out for good (after a good 4 years of wearing them). To hazard a guess, I'd have to say my own hair was around SLish when I found this place, but my last haircut was all layers and asymmetry, so parts of it were even shorter.
