I used Feye's self trim method to trim my hair the other day. My ends were split, dry, and generally looked bad. I didn't take a huge amount off, but I feel so much better now!

Just thought I'd show you guys, as I'm quite proud I didn't totally mess it up. Bit nerve-wracking taking the scissors to my hair!
It should be noted though, that in the "After" pic my hair has been straightened.

It looks great!
I just had a few inches cut off (old damage) but I braved the hair salon. Don't have the confidence to try Faye's method for more than an inch :-)

Both pics are lovely. I like your natural colour thats coming through, it's actually my fave colour like jojos... 'blonette'

I'm with alexblue, fstrim for more than a smidgen is wayy scary. Keep thinking it wont end up even with the first step.

Thanks all! I don't think I'd be confident enough to cut off more than an inch or so :o

goldloli - I often wish for a more interesting natural colour! But never mind, I'm slowly getting used to it. The colour change looks a little less obvious in real life!

Looks great! A trim does make a big difference. I just 3 inches off of mine. Looks so much better! I like to have blunt ends, so I have to trim!

naww it's plenty beautiful and interesting, i remember first jelling over that colour when i saw mischa barton in the oc. I fully support the blonette pride thread since everyone who has this colour seems to either bleach/henna/go darker!

You did a good job. My next trim is scheduled for Dec 22 with my stylist. I'm looking forward to it!

Trims are awesome and they really make such a difference. I look forward to mine, personally.

Looks good. I have a love/hate relationship with trims. My hair feels so much better with fresh ends, but I wish I didn't have to cut. I have about 3 inches of splits :( I would only trim like once/twice a year if my hair was healthy. Gotta get rid of the damage though.

Looks amazing! I thought of doing this method myself but chickened out... I really need to get the courage to do so because I am due for a trim.

It doesn't look like a huge amount at all!

Lovely hemline also loving your hair, the transition really is not all that noticeable on camera which means in real life it probably really doesn't show. I totally get the feeling with my boarding brown natural color especially with how much silver is coming out now that I am skipping the dye. It'll be worth it in the long run though.

Looks really good! I'm always so scared of messing up the hemline when I do the self-trim :P

It looks great, I think you did a great job. I am so scared to trim my own hair, so I make my DH do it for me.

Looks great! I always find it incredible how big a difference even the tiniest trim can make to how the ends of my hair look and feel.

Thanks all for the nice comments! :)

Dye. Been dyeing my hair since I was 13, I'm now 26.
