Hi everyone.... ok I found this site and have joined, read a lot and now am a bit confused and not sure which way to proceed due to my individual circumstances so thought I would post and see what others here thought
First of all I need to start by saying I am 50 and a year ago went off the pill to start menopause at the suggestion of male doctor as I have always had blood pressure issues and he thought it was time .... yes I can hear you all saying.... errgghhh but that's another story for another forum  I mention this as I am now going through the full blown 24 hour heat flushing and sweating which I will mention further on in my post
anyway so my hair is currently BSL and fairly thick with a slight wave - I have as a treat to my self reaching the big 50 started having foil highlights put through as most of my life I went without anything fancy as I was too busy bringing up my 2 boys and now it's my turn to look after myself. I also let the hairdresser completely flat iron my hair.... and it was amazing....again I can hear some of you cringe... but for the 1st time in my life my hair was like silk and lasted this way for a full 5 days after having it done.... and yes she did use heat protectant and other products
so the next thing is my hair has always been in good condition but I noticed after having children it got darker and the last few years it's gotten really dry and frizzy especially after washing.... after reading lots of threads here I understand why now - the thing is I would wash and condition with all the bad 'cone' stuff and then just blow dry the fringe and let the rest air dry - winter and summer I never use the dryer on the length - Humid days now are a nightmare as I end up with a mass of frizz and no matter how much 'stuff' I put on it nothing helped. I did notice the the 2nd day after washing and subsequent days the natural oils would condition my hair and it looked better. I only wash 1 maybe 2 times a week at the most due to the drying effect
so I decided to to try the CO method as I loathe my hair when it's frizzy. It didn't go as expected when I tried it the other day during a rather hot and humid day which may have been not the best day to try it and at the moment I am experiencing hot flushes and night sweats like crazy so my forehead is always greasy and has been pretty much throughout my adult life which has always made my fringe greasy
I did clarify shampoo the last time I washed and this time I just got into the shower and wet my hair, then ran water and ACV mix through my hair then did the CO soak and comb then rinsed.
I immediately knew it was heavy and greasy feeling when I got out and let it dry as per usual but my fringe was terrible and looked like it had not even been washed.
I knew from reading that I would have to expect a transition period and trial and error with the type of Conditioner...... Treseme organics one which I got from a list I found on here I think of the Conditioners without the cones and have done some legwork to see which ones I can buy here is Melbourne
So to end my thread.... do I persevere and keep trying and did I do it wrong with the ACV rinse before the CO - also I am booked in for another foil treatment next friday so do I just give it a break till my next wash after the highlights etc.
sorry for the long winded post but I am really keen to keep my hair in the best condition possible for my 'golden years' so to speak and it seems that there is light at the end of the tunnel once I work out what my hair needs as it's treatment
thanks in advance for any one who goes to the trouble of reading this and replying... it will be much appreciated :)
