Has anyone seen Stardust?? OH MY GOD I looooved the new "haircut" Robert De Niro gave to the guy! LOL Looked much better, dont you think? Check out the before and after pics:

AFTER: http://www.britfilms.tv/images/news/StardustClip.jpg

(No, I didn't mix them up, they go in that order!)

Ok apart from that the main female character has long hair (past BSL and with pretty damaged ends... but still!) and she sports some gorgeous updos... this one being my fave:

I'm posting different views of it so that if anyone cares to give it a try I'm still working on the bottom part of the style... is it some sort of braided bun?

Btw, I recommend this movie, it was very fun to watch (Robert De Niro is hilarious!) and there's great hairstyles and long hair in it too (Michelle Pfeiffer's hair is gorgeous as always).

I adored that movie! I read a review somewhere that if you like Princess Bride than you'll like Stardust, they weren't kidding! As you wish.

I told my husband I wanted Robert Di Niro to trim my hair.

It looks like a roll to me, it really shouldn't be complicated, though it does look 'stuffed'. The bottom looks about how my bee butt bun looks if I wear it all day without re-doing it (like it's falling down). Pretty!

Those updos are so gorgeous! Wish I knew how to do them!

My friend Jill did a variant of that first one a few times back when we were in school. She's since cut her hair, and regrets it.

It was a form of ponytail though. Looked similar.

Wow! I love the woman's updo. It's very soft. I wish I knew how to do that roll correctly, I somehow never succeed in doing that... and the very low buns mostly aren't as stable as higher ones; they fall out much faster.

I havn't seen this film but I want to now. Is is based on a book called Stardust about a boy who went to find a fallen star? It is a pretty hairdo. To me the bun bit looks a loose rope braid looped round and tucked back under at the nape. I don't know how it would be secured.

That is very pretty. Does look like a stuffed roll.

Hopefully some LHC genius can figure this out and post directions!!

Yes. It was very good, my BF even enjoyed it :D

I love love love this film - it's on of my faves ever. I've read the book too (after the film) but prefer the film as it's funny.

Loved Yvaine's updo you posted in the scene where she's dancing with Robert DeNiro. That's just a lovely scene anyway. Also was totally in love with Michelle Pfeiffer's hair. She always looks gorgeous. The characters of Una and Victoria also had nice hair too.

The bun reminds me of pinless bun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZs5o6MKjUM&feature=user) I saw recently.... ;) Nice updo!

This is a lovely hairstyle. Thanks for sharing it. I can't wait to try it myself. And after all the praises I'm going to have to watch the movie now.

Definitely a good movie hair-wise. I love the updo! All I can make is either a regular bun, a figure 8 or a Chinese bun. And I did like Princess Bride....I'm going to have to see this one now.

I was thinking rope braid too. I'm gonna have to try it again and see. She's got much thicker hair than I do though... :sigh:

I tried this style this morning and this is what I came up with. I have to work on the twisted sides, they untwisted before I fastened them :)

DrkAngel, could you add the links to the pictures, they are removed.

Wow, you're fast :D Thank you!

Instructions
Part hair off centre.
Twist each side back (like this (http://www.dressytresses.com/hair/gallery/instruct/hair-roll/)) and fasten at the nape.
Take the ponytail you've made, place 3 fingers under the base of the tail and fold the tail around your fingers. This will create a loop with a long tail hanging down. Fasten the loop with a hairband.
Wrap the rest of your hair around the base of the loop, covering the hairband.
Pin in place (this may be tricky). Done!If any of this is unclear (I predict step 3 will cause confusion :?), let me know and I'll try to explain better.

Arrrgh, I totally LOVED Stardust, such a pretty movie! I was also totally besotted with Tristran, maybe slightly due to my adoration of long-haired guys... *cough*
Have you read the original novel by Neil Gaiman? I very very highly recommend it, it is glorious!!

I wish my (ridiculously choppy) layers would grow out so I can try that hairstyle, it's gorgeous!

Isilya, thanks for the instructions! They were clear, and I think it's a good idea to start a tread :)
I even tried this myself, my hair is too short but I managed a minibun with your instruction :D

I enjoyed Stardust, and the book was even better! I loved the scene in which the Captain cuts Tristan's hair and it gets longer, because as a teenager I always told my mom I wanted the beautician to "cut my hair longer."
Isilya and Arctic, those are both lovely interpretations of Yvaine's style!

Sneakybea: Thank you! I haven't seen the movie or read the book but the style is lovely! There is another thread going on started my Isilya where she posted the how to: you can see some more members trying this style on their hair :) I think they are all very pretty!
