This is a funny request because most people don't like products that weigh their hair down but I do. Because my hair is thick, it poofs out and is huge all day after I wash it. Sometimes I like that and sometimes I don't. Any recommendations? I'd like to try something new. :)

I was wondering the same thing, I HATE my poofy hair. But I don't think heavy conditioners are a good idea, because of all the residue they must leave.
I know sunsilk makes an anti poof shampoo and conditioner. It has decent reviews but I never tried it.

Look for a conditioner with glycerin as a top ingredient. I know that weighs my hair down. It also attracts moisture all day.

I used to use Nexxus Humectress in an effort to keep my poofy hair down.

I have to second the Nexxus Humectess, I rotate it with other conditiones from Nexxus and it is the heaviest one I ever used. I also love conditoners that weigh my hair down:)

I fixed my post-washing poof with oil and conditioner mixed with water in my mister. I spray probably ten times over the length, three or four over the canopy and maybe five times with my head hanging down to get at the underside. It doesn't really weigh my hair down as much as make it perfectly shiny and not...poof ball-y. My hair type is different from yours, but I can give you the details if you're interested :)

As for actual heavy conditioners, Pantene stuff is pretty heavy in my opinion, so that might be something to try.

I'm a poofball if I don't use coconut oil after I wash. Do you oil??

I rub about 3-5 drops plus a quarter size of giovanni direct leave in into my towel dried hair. Makes my waves come out lovely and un-poofy.

I would like the details of this....maybe something to try...though my hair is more in the 1 category.

Can you give examples of conditioners that have glycerin as a top ingredient? I have been reading labels and looking online but haven't found much. I was told that shampoo and conditioners that are for straight hair is supposed to help with frizz and weighing the hair down ( but I haven't tried any yet)....does anybody find this to be true???

I would like something to weigh my hair down, but most such products make my hair feel icky...kinda like oil, but worse....and usually itchy.

I've been using and liking Ellin Lavar's Textures line of products. I only use the shampoo, the conditioner, and the deep treatment since I think the rest of the stuff just weighs my hair down too much.

I mention the line, since it's designed for curly/wavy hair, and has lots of options, depending on your needs or wants.

I like it because a) I have consistent 'good hair days' with a minimum of fuss, b) it doesn't have a strong fragrance and c) it doesn't make my head itch the way so many other products seem to manage. It also doesn't cost much, which is nice.

I know some people have mentioned having buildup from some of the products, but using just the three that I do, I haven't had any problems along those lines, and they seem rich enough to weigh my hair down just enough that it's not wispy and flyaway.

(Did have one adventure with the leave-in, but that was pretty much my own fault. Nothing exceeds like excess. ;) )

I just used the last of my Joico K-Pak Intense Hydrator conditioner and for my hair that is the most heavy conditioner I have ever tried. It contains 'cones though and I think that is the main reason it weighs my hair down.

Another good heavy conditioner is Nexxus Humectin, no 'cones but it has mineral oil. But still it is a pretty good, thick conditioner.

The one I used was Nature's Gate Tea Tree conditioner for flaky scalp. I used it twice, and my hair was very weighed down. I gave it to a friend with frizzy, curly hair, and he loved it. I got it at the local heath food store, but I'm sure you can order it online some where. Just google Nature's gate.

I use the same stuff and leave it in. I scrunch it into my soppy hair and squeeze it excess out and finger comb. It really helps define my curl. I also oil (coconut or SSO).

I use Burt's Bees Avocado Butter deep treatment as a leave-in. It's mostly glycerine and it weighs my hair down really well.

I used to like the Garnier Fructis for straight hair MUCH better than the curly haired line. Not sure why it was so much better.

I also LOVED Sunsilk anti-poof conditioner (not the leave-in). It was slippery or heavy but REALLY helped the poof, in fact it was the only thing that did. I would also use coconut oil as a leave-in to help and AG re:coil was great too. All three of those combined got me through that medium poofy length! (I used the Sunsilk Anti-poof from about 4 inches from the scalp down and then immediately rinsed it out, no need to leave it on, in fact if I did leave it on for a few minutes and rinse, it seemed not to do as well. It takes a while to experiment with how much to use and also you need to clarify once in a while to remove the buildup from the cones.

Oh and I also loved the Suave knock-off of Humectress even better than the real stuff!
