Even though I'm only 3 days in this has made me think of how little I vary my hairstyle, and last night I made a "Doable Hairstyles Directory" of all the different ways I can wear my hair & variations :D Let's see how much I use it, now. I'm going to print a copy and put it on my vanity to peruse in the morning :)

You can do lot of styles with collarbone length hair. I can't but wonder why this subject comes up over and over and over :D Not criticising you at all, but really, I'd be almost rich if I'd get an euro every time I see someone mentioning this since the February of this year, when I came back here after a long hiatus. And as many times I have said the same thing I said now to you :) Clips are fine to use, mini claw clips especially are very comfy and easy to use at shorter lengths. Faccare and beak clips work for many twists. Sock buns and some other buns give some volume to otherwise smaller bun.

I think it counts and I think it's a personal choice. I count my braids. There can be stress on the ends from pony tail holders but maybe if you use those ribbon type elastic it would be more gentle :-)

Well then I'm in :) I minitrim regularly so ends should be no issue, but I could indeed get better elastics now that you said that, thanks. Most of those I have have a metal part on them, I somehow overlooked this (too many things can damage hair - you cant catch it all). :eye:

I am officially joining this challenge! I'm going to start with 1 month and continue on afterwards if I don't find it too irksome. I'm assuming I will probably end up going for "wear my hair up for 3 months" since it's only going to get warmer, the farther into summer we go. I feel a bit awkward about beginning mid-month, as I'm going to presume it's easier to keep track of days when beginning on the 1st of any given month. But I have this thread to help me keep track of days (and to help me be accountable on those days I just want to be lazy and wear my hair loose). This post is getting a bit long so I will wrap things up now.

I really want to get past shoulder length. I almost chopped to chin out of frustration, but decided to hold off. I think for the rest of summer I'm going to put my hair up and forget about it. I have enough going on in my life, my hair is just adding to my stress. Here we go.

I accidently fell asleep with my hair loose. I was waiting for it to dry after a WO rinse. We got home quite late last night and by the time I got out of the shower it was almost 2am. Normally, I let it air dry before tying it back up for night but last night, that didn't happen. I'm not going to re-start counting, though. Do you guys count nights as well as days?

Very similar to Laura's criss-cross Chinese bun but instead of a Chinese bun, this is a vortex bun (held with my very pretty dusty rose Flexi, of course!)

ETA: I had labeled this a cinnabun but after browsing the style of the month forum, I've come to realize this is more like a vortex bun.

I think on fine and straighter hair that is more noticeable. At least when my hair was still fine, just fingercombing it made it oily.

Yes, mine seems to get oily from most things I do. But I have noticed with new hair coming in and more length that I can go an extra day between washes. And with my hair up I went two extra days this week. Some of that may just be that the oil does not show as much when it is up.

I just wanted to thank the OP and all the participants. Seems I built the habit to wear my hair up in a month... I dont leave it loose now (for most of the time). :) It's usually a claw hair clip because I have no time for anything more elaborate right now. But not having it constantly rub against something and exposed to all is a great progress for me.

Okay, I'm finally going to try this for ... a month. I have to wear my hair up at work anyway, so my challenge will be keeping it up beforehand/afterward and putting it up on my days off.

Day 1: regular old cinnabun

I toyed with my hair a lot this morning, trying new styles, until I finally settled on something I was comfortable with. My hair still won't stay in a bun with pins, so I use little claw clips to hold it in place.

Well for the past 3 weeks I've worn my hair in a lazy wrap bun held by a stick :D

I got my Flexi 8 and plan to subsist on that for a while (I picked mine out specifically for my job) so maybe I'll check back when I take this down? I usually leave my hair up for a few days before styling it again o.o

So we will unofficially say that Monday was day one and today is day 3!
