Hi! I'm new. So this is day um... I don't know, 5? Yes, I think I started on Monday. I'm not sure though. But I realized recently that I wear my hair down entirely too much, and it's starting to dry out at the ends (which are a little dry-ish anyway because the last foot of hair is leftover from a $300 :shocked: trip to the salon - my first and last ever). So, today I'm wearing my hair in um.... a folded braid thing with a flexi-8 securing it. I found it here:

It's the second one. I like it.
I guess I should post a goal of how many days or something that I want to wear my hair up, right? I'm not really sure.:confused:

Um... Hmm. I suppose I'll try for all of May, and see what happens after that. I'm already running into annoyances though - My bun gets in the way! I mean, not in the ordinary course of things, but I like to lean my head back against things, or sometimes I'll lie back on my bed, (I mean, I'm not going to bed yet, I'm just hanging out in my room) and the bun totally is in the way of being comfy. Or now, I'm sitting up in bed with two pillow behind my back against the wall, and I had to move the pillows down below my head because my bun was pushing my head forward. :hmm: Maybe it's just something I'll get used to.

Day 6: Just a regular bun (sort of cinnamon-y, but it's all crazy cause my layers won't cooperate and my ends are too blunt to tuck properly) with a plastic hairstick. This is the kind of non-style that makes my roommate wonder what is the point of having long hair... But mysteriously, the longer she's known me, the longer she's let her hair grown, and the less she's blow-dried!;)

Day 528--An English Braid after washing.
Day 529 (Mother's Day) Started out w/a rope braided bun w/a brown sparkly scarf woven through w/ 4 octi clips....They totally got on my nerves and drove me crazy. I had to take the whole thing down in church (the clips) and just had the rope braid w/scarf style...That ended up driving me crazy because the rope braid started to look fuzzy--I took the whole thing down and wrapped it back up w/the octi clips. Right now it's heavily oiled and monostat(ed) in anticipation for my visit with MY mother who is a heavy smoker; actually she and my sister both are...Thankfully I plan to wash tonight. :D

Day 7 - Couldn't decide, so wound up with first an attempt at a Nautilus bun, which turned out like an odd poofy round thingie instead, but it looked decent, so I wore that for a while, then wound up doing a pinless braided bun, and then switched again to a high cinnamon bun anchored by a nylon stocking elastic because I can't do a bun that high without securing it somehow first. My hair didn't want to cooperate today!

After only 2 weeks of protective styles, I'm surprised to find that my hair seems to feel much softer! I think I'll keep this up. =)

And a few pins to pin up my short layers. My hair is horrible when its down so I want to wear it up for awhile until it hits my collar bone.

I hadn't worn my hair in more than a half up in about three years when I started, and I had to force myself to do it several days. Now I can hardly stand it down!

Day 60/60 - I'm finishing up with my omnipresent cinnabun with a ketylo. I fully intend to keep up this challenge as much as I can, but I'm going to the beach in a few days and cannot braid my hair or put it in a ponytail lest I wish to cut it out with scissors! So I will be wearing my hair down some. I will have it up when I'm not swimming though, I think.

So I just realized that I've worn my hair up all week, which means I've worn it up every day of June so far. So I think I'll try this challenge for the month of June.

Since I have short hair and a limited style repertoire, today (day 4) I twisted my cinnabun in the opposite direction than I usually do. It was pretty hard! Oh, I did wear looped ponytails on days 1 and 3 when I went running, but today I did my mini-claw cinnabun and it held better than a looped pony!

Well, mostly anyway. Down to dry, and then down two evenings because my BF loves it that way.

Today I wore it down to school since it was the last class for this term. I've gotten used to wear it up, I don't know what to do with it when down, it's all over the place. I guess it's getting long. :D

I will continue keeping it up. It's not really a challenge anymore, I like it up and away. Maybe I will find more time/strength to play around with styles in the summer with no school. Work will be a good test for how well they hold. :)

sigh. my hair fell of the wagon.

I've worn it down for the past 2 days, with interim breaks from hot yoga in the morning.

Don't have time to really play with it and just any old style is not attractive on me.

Plus, my hair is soaking wet if I do yoga in the mornings. At night, it didn't bother me, there would be time for it to dry, I could oil it and put it in a braid, do my hair in the morning.

But leaving yoga with soaking wet hair going straight to work is just not working for me.

Have to think about what might be a decent maintenance style... problem is, if I put it up when wet, it stays wet all day. Hate putting my hair up wet.

I should do this again... I did it for over a year when I was a teen. I didn't know it was good for my hair or not it was something I did for religious reasons. I got very good with hairstyles, but now I mostly just leave it out. And the ends have gotten more ragged... maybe I should try wearing it up for a month...
