Pretty sure I've replied to this thread before since it's in my subscriptions folder but I haven't been on lhc since.....ooooo, sheesh, 2015? You know my life has been going through the wringer if I can't even find time to talk about the one thing that makes me the happiest shudder:. like, seriously.

But I made the decision just three days ago to start wearing my hair up as exclusively as possible for AT LEAST the next six months because I've been using my flat iron like it was just invented - completely breaking my 4 year heat-free streak. I enjoyed every minute of it tbh. But 8 months is a long time to go back and forward between a heat tool and then a tangle-y wash 'n go hairstyle. So now I'm in babying mode.

I just cut those uglass ends off that had been fried to high heaven and causing more tangles than I was allowing myself to believe. Washed the straightness out and immediately put my wet hair into two large bantu knots, conditioner saturated through every strand of course. I did take the knots out so that I could look extra cute for my boyfriend while we went to see the new "Fate of the Furious" movie but I was completely surprised at how wurly, bouncy, and thick my hair looked. It felt like a baby's cover was lightly brushing against my back. I could smell the fragrance from my conditioner every time a strand touched my face. Just an absolutely awesome feeling. And only after just two days of hiding it! So it made me imagine how much better my hair would feel (and how much longer it would be) if I just kept it tucked away for an actual length of time.

This is definitely going to be a challenge. I love wearing my hair down. I don't feel fully dressed unless my hair is down. I have a huge forehead for pete's sake. I just don't feel like myself when I have it all pinned up like a shrew. But that flat-ironing binge lasted for waaaay too long. I'm lucky it didn't destroy my curls. I'm not happy at waist and want to finally cross into the "long hair threshold" that only classic length will provide. So, this is me checking in on day 3 of my 6 month hair up challenge. Ya'll didn't ask for an essay but I provided one anyway :lol:

Love your hair! I know what you mean about the "not feeling dressed" part. I too have a large forehead and what helped me, was leaving a little bit of hair out. I take out two curls on each side of my face to give it a softer look. Maybe it's something you could try?

The tendril idea just might work! lol. I think I'm going to do that on the days when i am just like "oh no ma'am. I am wearing something down today." And thank you! Hair compliments are so few and far between. Women see my hair and promptly ignore me completely :hmm: lol. i forgot how complimentary the hair boards are.

Unfortunately, I got quite sick for a few days this month, and did end up wearing my hair down for a day or two because I was just too ill to deal with it, so I didn't really have it up all month, but I tried. :) I'm planning on continuing this challenge for at least another month or two now, I'm finding it a lot easier to put my hair up now that I do it everyday. Another lace-crown-braid-and-bun day for me! :) This makes day 18 of wearing my hair up. I'm really surprised by how much of a difference I'm already seeing in my hair! There are NO split ends, and it's much more smooth and shiny...I've been putting a light leave-in conditioner on the ends each morning before I put my hair up, and that seems to really be making a difference.

You're welcome! <3 If it helps, I had a huge aversion to putting my hair up my whole entire life until I finally forced myself to learn to love it at the beginning of this year. :p And my hair has been at classic length before too. If I can do it, you can do it! :D

I have a go-to bun that I am an expert at doing up in less than a minute, I find that adding this to my morning routine has made it easier to just do without having to even think about it. Although having a myriad of different hairstyles to choose from is what motivates some people too. Whatever works for you! :)

My original goal was 30 days, but it's been warm, and when my hair is down it feels rather like a blanket. That's GREAT in the winter, but in the warmer weather, having it up is a lot easier. And I've found that it makes a huge difference in my hair's health. I've had no split ends since I started wearing it up every day. :thud: I can't believe the difference!
