What are your shine secrets?

My hair always looks so dull to me, and I wish it'd have more shine. I'm trying to avoid potentially harmful shine sprays, though, so I wondered if LHC would have any great advice. Thanks! :p

I believe an ACV rinse increases shine as it closes the hair cuticles. However I have not tried this.

Henna and gentle care made my hair shiny, but Toadstool (etsy) shampoo and conditioner made my hair BLINDINGLY shiny!!!!

Senna gives me amazing shine! There's a picture in my album - it's the one where my hair looks really red. The color is off but the shine is dead on. :)

I use 2 products that make my hair ridiculously shiny:
-Original Moxie's Hair Bling----this pomade is approprietly named. Shine is beyond crazy
-Pura Body's Cupuacu Butter----smells delish andhair is sooo shiny.

Jojoba made a difference for me. My homemade shine serum is 1 part almond oil, 1 part jojoba, 1 part coconut, 1/2 part glycerin, 1/2 part castor oil.

Vinegar and cold water rinses! Also I find if it dries in a way where it's not getting touched it look shinier, it alway looks great if I mist it with water and do rag curls. I use mineral oil in place of serum and that makes it more sleek as well.

My shine secret is flash photography.

It looks about 20x better when my dad (or brother, they're my Designated Hair Photographic Documenters) uses the flash on our camera.

It doesn't do anything when I'm walking around reality, but it still helps raise my confidence. :shrug:

To second everyone else..acid rinse, co-ing, oiling. With oils everone is different grapeseed or cocoa butter give me super shine but i dont like them as regulars so i do monoi as my hair likes it better. Shea makes me dull and my hair is finicky about olive. A little aloe over oiled hair in an updo does fantastic.

Mine is co washing and amla powder mixed together. I tried an acv rinse but my hair seems shiny frizzy now. But I also tried yogurt in the mix and I normally don't. But I do have a nice shine so acv is my suggestion

I also highly recommend cold water rinses, I saturate my hair with cold water before I leave the shower, leave-in conditioner if your hair can stand it works for me too and air drying

CO washing works for me. I'd like shinier hair, but I already get lots of comments on it, so I'm not going to go crazy with serums and such. It seems that any oil in a mister bottle with water could help, though. :)

My hair is naturally quite shiny; but sweet almond oil, argania oil for fine hair or simply my normal jojoba conditioner as a leave in all boost shine. Adding a few drops of sweet orange EO to conditioner or oil also adds shine, but it can cause sun damage so only use it as a pre-wash treatment or in a wash-out product (i.e. conditioner in the shower).
Coconut seems to make my hair either dull looking or greasy, ive never found the magic amount, and mineral oil makes my hair look lank and stringy even with the tiniest amount.

but over the night dramatic difference is made by... chelating shampoo. it really makes my hear shiny. does anybody know why?
somehow my hair needs chelating once per week or once per two weeks. i don't know why but I discovered that and it makes my hair happy :)

i have a shine spray from regis ( got it from a hair salon) that works fantastic and it has never harmed my hair, but mainly my hair is shiny due to its natural oily nature, so i have rare uses for it
