Hello,

for most of my life I’ve always thought I was a slight wavy. Yesterday, however, while at Sally’s I was told that my hair is really curly. (My hair that was down all morning and afternoon and for a few hours in the evening it was put with a claw clip that I took down a short time before coming into the store. ) Now I am confused about my true hair type. Wavy or curly? What are your opinions?

I’ve always been shampoo only girl, just a month ago starting using shampoo conditioner (both Suave Naturals Lilac and Lavender). My hair has been frizzy/staticky for as long as I can remember though. Should I make any changes to my routine? Please help.

I think you're a 2c. You have waves that are almost curls.

Looks like 2c to me too. If you haven't tried conditioner-only washing before, I'd recommend giving it a go. My hair is 2c/3a, so similar to yours, and CO has been great for retaining moisture and curl pattern and reducing static.

I vote 2c, and also suggest you try CO washing. Join us here. (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=2898)

Thank you for the replies everyone. Pleasantly surprised that the consensus puts my hair as wavier than I always thought it was. Keep the replies coming.

Yup, 2c is my vote as well...

I thought I was 1c/2a until I did a post like this. lol My hair is very similar to yours, but as it got longer, the curl/waves got weighed down. I also moved from the Midwest to Maine, so I thought that less humidity made my hair less wavy. Not the case! lol

I have your kind of hair and CO wash is working out for me.

Seconding the CO recommendation (rinse well!) and my guess for your hair is 2b/2c. Other suggestions... well, do you use a brush? If so, perhaps try a wide-tooth comb? That should help with the poof factor.

2C, so experiment with curly girl methods.
I can't go along with CO, though. It made the hair at my scalp stick to my head - so limp and dull! - if I did it more than once in a row, and yes I rinsed-rinsed-rinsed and tried several different conditioners. What works for one head of hair, unfortunately, won't necessarily work for the next head of hair. I wish it did; it would be so much simpler to find the perfect routine!

Does anyone think it's possible that my hair got a few curls in it because it's been in cinnamon bun secured by claw clip all evening?

Hmm I'm leaning more towards 2b... I think the waves are accentuated due to the layers, and that if you were to grow them out longer, it would perhaps not seem as curly? My hair is lots curlier looking when it's shorter and layered, too... which is why I think maybe your hair isn't quite a 2c. However, it's one of those ones where time will tell!

I still think it's worth trying the curly girl method to see if you can coax some real curls from your waves! It works really well for some (not so for others... makes my hair weird).

Seems like I'm getting quite a few of 2b/2c hairtypes. Hmm, may put my hair into a cinnamon bun secured with claw clip early morning on Wednesday and see how hair looks at the end of the day. Will try to take pic, but not promising anything.
