Choosing a Stick/Fork

Hello everyone!

I would like to buy some sticks and perhaps even a fork, but I'm having a hard time deciding what color to go for. I have very limited funds at this point, so I have to buy something that works PERFECTLY and fits my hair in the best possible way.

My hair color is a bit complicated, I will post a collage of my hair pics here (I've posted them so many places now that I feel a little silly reposting it again, lol) and I would really appreciate your input, advice, suggestions and perhaps even pictures of your own with your favorite hairstick color (as in - what according to you looks the best with your hair color, etc.).

As you can see, I've hennaed my hair - all the way until about Feb/April this year. I'm also thinking about going back to henna, but this time about 60/70% cassia and 40/30% henna ... :o My natural color is somewhere between dark blonde and light brown with reddish, blondish strands here and there.

PS: I am considering mostly Ketylo sticks right now as they have German re-sellers (low shipping price), seem to be of very high quality and have many options to choose from.

I just had the same problem a month ago so I went on eBay (again) and saw an auction for 8 sets (16 sticks total) that were 6.5 inches and different colors.

After shipping, it cost me $18.00 for 16 hair sticks! Yay! The seller had them as a "Buy It Now" option so I didn't have to bid on them and watch the price go up with other people's bids.

It's fun to try the different colors to see what I like best. Some days I like white, then red, then white, etc.

Maybe give eBay a shot? I'm still checking out forks but they seem more expensive so I haven't bought them yet.

Look for auctions that sell many different colors in one sale, you'll save a ton on shipping.

I can only rec. one or two of these (http://www.etsy.com/listing/88472870/originalfire-handmade-carved-ebony-wood?ref=usr_faveitems). Works with pretty much any haircolor, wood is dense, practically waterproof (I've been wearing them in damp, or even wet hair yes), and cheap. Not extravagant, good for work too.

Only thing it takes some time to get them (slow shipping).

I own 4 Ketylo sticks and while I do like them, I wish I had got them in the long size. I bought medium and I can't do some things with them because they aren't long enough and my hair unravels. I would think that if you went for a black acrylic or ebony wood it would match your hair color whether natural or with henna. If you look around etsy you might be able to find someone in Germany though? I understand about having to buy the perfect thing the first time, it's terrible to waste money!

I went into my local knitting shop to ask if they had a crochet class. I noticed these bamboo double-pointed knitting needles and a light-bulb went on for me! I bought a package and began using them as hairsticks.
They're inexpensive, hair friendly, and just the right length for me.
Maybe you might enjoy trying them?

Or, you can just take your knife and sandpaper, get some tree branches and make your first sticks till you get more funds to buy something you will really like. You don't need to be very crafty for a simple straight stick. Hint: food color works...
