Hi everyone! I'm back from two weeks at Burning Man and finally uploaded my photos. (http://jesslynlittlepage.com/1/post/2012/09/burning-man-2012-a-photo-journey.html)

While I was there we were camped next to Barber Ella (a camp specializing in mohawks and shaved heads). Several of my camp mates got beautiful mowhawks and I just couldn't resist doing it too. But I didn't want to lose my long hair altogether so... a long hair mohawk it is!

I know there are some rules about posting pictures of hair cuts so you can see more pictures here (http://jesslynlittlepage.com/1/post/2012/09/back-from-burning-man-exciting-news.html), as well as my fiance's new 'do.

Thanks, all!

It's funny because my hair was blue and purple (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=98480). Somehow as it has faded, the blue turned to pink. Strange!

Wow! It looks terrific in you! Seriously, you look absolutely great, and the hairstyles you managed to achieve compliment your length and also make your sides visible. Really cool!

Thumbs up xD

Thank you all! I was a little nervous to post this here. :)

I got the bun mohawk idea from Hair Romance. I'd done it several times before I had a mohawk and thought it would look even cuter now. I was rushed when I did this version; next time I will make the buns more even in size.

Also, I used to have much finer, thinner hair. I've always had many, many hairs but they were so fine and flat that my hair appeared very thin. Since I stopped using products (including shampoo/conditioner) and brushing infrequently, my hair has become much thicker and fuller.

Do you WO or SO wash? Just curious.. :)

[edit] WO, I already have my answer by looking at your profile... Lol :D

Mohawks are cool. I used to have one too. :) During summer, it relieves the heat a lot!

gthlvrmx, since the style is from Hair Romance and she sells a pdf book with this style in it (which is where I learned this style), I don't feel comfortable making a tutorial for it. You can buy her book which is inexpensive and has some very cute styles in it here (http://www.hairromance.com/30-hairstyles-in-30-days). Or you can just check out the pictures I posted and figure it out from those. It's not a particularly difficult hairstyle.

That looks so AWESOME!

Your bunhawk is gorgeous, especially with all the colors swirling around. I love that look

It must be so much easier to wash and detangle, too. Have you considered dying the shaved sides?

Enjoy rockin' your new 'do!!

That is so cool: the buns, the mohawk, and the color! I've seen a few men with that haircut, but not on a woman. You look chic and edgy! Very nice! :applause

It looks awesome!
How was burning man? I've always wanted to go...

Congrats on your engagement! Hair looks awesome, I love the pony! I had a mohawk when I was younger, a long one too! I had to basically crystallize it with sugar to get it to stand up, and boy does that make your hair hard! (and sticky!) I love the bun! Basically any "hairdo" that looks good on a horse's mane will look great on a mohawk! I'd love to see a diamond braid on you!

Girl Thursday, love the 'do! I'm perusing your blog right now; I really appreciate it so far, especially the parts for self-motivation (lets face it, we all need more of that). Thanks for the pics and blog link!

Yesssssss I love seeing burning man pictures especially on here!!
I used to live in Nevada like an hour away from the BRC. I am sad I have never gotten to go.
Last summer I went to Reno a lot (only a half hour away) For compression and decompression for burning man. They were little festivals/event sorts of things lots of fire dancers and crazy fire things.

Are you sure you're only a i/ii? Even with the sides shaved, your remaining braid looks way thicker than mine with a full head of hair. I think it really suits you.

Thank you all for your encouragement about my hair, my engagement, and my website. :D

melusine963, I was actually a i/ii before I went WO. I need to change that. I think I'm a ii now, with the sides shaved.

akilina, you should go to Burning Man! If you like the festivities surrounding it, I'm sure you'd like the festival itself. Or try a regional event that's closer to where you live now. My fiance is one of the crazy fire performers. :)

elektra, thanks for checking out my website! I have so much fun working on it and sharing it with the world. It truly is my passion!

Greenfire, I hadn't thought of the similarity to a horse's mane! I'm going to have to do some research and see what I can come up with. I don't even know what a diamond braid is, but I'll find out! Do you have any pics of your 'do when you were younger? I'd love to see it.

abbatabba1137, Burning Man was awesome. I've been participating in regional events here in Texas for 10 years so I wasn't blown away by the main event (so to speak). But I did have a great time and will definitely do it again!

MeowScat, it is easier to manage for sure. :) I did think about dying the sides but I kind of like them natural, especially with the impending wedding!

You know, in my head I was thinking that a long hair mohawk would look odd but I actually quite like it! That picture where your hair is in a knot at the top of your head is very pretty. :)

You inspired my bun fauxhawk yesterday! (My sides are still to short to go in, so they got pinned up, and I just mini-bunned the top with bobby pins.)

It's way cuter on you. Just saying. :cheese:
