I can't find a thread for these guys but I would like to bring them to your attention!

I got some beautiful sticks from Eric Winney (the proprietor) this week and he has made me a pair of customs. They are all acrylic. These are the ones I have received:

These are my favourites:
https://www.etsy.com/transaction/92670464

I loved the quirky shape of this one:
https://www.etsy.com/transaction/92670465

These are really simple and pretty, and look fab in my red hair:
https://www.etsy.com/transaction/92670461

The blue of this really pops! It's fabulous.
https://www.etsy.com/transaction/92670462

and these:
https://www.etsy.com/transaction/92670463
The camera doesn't capture the amazing pepperminty flakiness of these sticks.

He has also made the two custom sticks in the middle here:
https://www.etsy.com/transaction/94508354
which he worked with to my specifications.

Eric is really a joy to work with, he blends his own acrylics and his messages to me were lovely:

"Thank you for buying this item. I sincerely hope that you'll enjoy having it and hope that maybe you'll show it to your friends and they'll be motivated to show here as well. Any questions or comments, bring 'em on...I'm here to solve it if I can... Santa BTW, I do play Santa Claus just about year 'round...Ho Ho Ho"
"I want you to be happy and not "have to make do"
you are the customer so you're right. When I first looked at it and shaped it, I saw that the resin had not mixed all the way thru. I wanted your seal of approval on the coloring."

He has asked also that I (and those who buy from him) take some action shots for his etsy page, so I'm going to do that soon:

"I have a special request... would you please have someone take a picture or two of you wearing the sticks, and then send them to me to add to my listing views. I think a person wearing the sticks would help other perspective buyers see what they would look like."

I can recommend his work most highly, they came wrapped in a box with foam blocks to protect them, and his prices are also great!

Oh Lovi, can I call you an evil enabler? I just now ordered 5 pairs of sticks  You can only go so long without a new hair toy or two or five :D Thank you so much for pointing me in the direction of HairSticksNMore!

Well, I thought I'd put a comment here, but I guess the hamsters ate it. Trying again:

I've had my eye on this shop for a while now, I really like his acrylics. It's good to know he's nice to work with, too. I think I know my first stop if I ever get around to buying acrylics.

Been browsing this shop since this was posted and im torn. There are afordable things i like but im not sure about the shape.....i am used to a more traditional chopstick shape instead of http://www.etsy.com/listing/106070763/hairsticks-handmade-with-gold-black-and like that. For those who have them does the shape effect hold? It seems to me that of they are the same diameter all the way down they may slip is that true?

Mine don't slip, Natalia.

I am so sold on acrylic sticks! :D

I have one tiny picky thing: one of the pairs I will need to sand down the top a little, as there is a tiny snag. But it is a really tiny thing for me to be picky about.

He's in the middle of making a pair for me. Although I'm not sure if my computer has a problem or not but we have a lot of communication troubles. First he responded slowly, then told me he'll send me some pictures in a couple days. Then when I asked where the pictures are he sent me pictures of other people's orders. The he said oops I'll make it right away. Today I asked again and he said he already sent me pictures, but I never saw any. Maybe you ladies swamped him with orders so he's confused. :)

Update: I finally got some pictures. I do think he has just made it today, probably too busy before. I would have been OK with that if he was just up front with me about being busy. Oh well.

Thank you! I actually really like my double pointed freebies im thinking of asking him to do a custom in a 7 - 7.5 length if he can. I need at minimum a 7 inch to get a chinese bun to stay. Have to wait till my paycheck gets here to see if its in the budget for me.

Hey all wanted to post back as i am conversing with him about a custom and he can do lengths up to 12 inches. Havent discussed price yet but he has been very open to my requests. Im only at classis and have a big taper but i need BIG sticks for chinese or braided buns and many sellers only offer 5 - 6.5 inches and i need more than that so if you do too check him out :)

I have received my custom resin sticks and they're very nice. The color is a bit brighter than I expected but that's OK. I'm not sure if I'll buy more resin sticks. It's very nice to get custom colors, but they seem to be very similar to acrylic sticks in function and feel. I was hoping for a little more grip but they feel just as smooth in my slippery hair. This is good news for those who want smooth hairsticks, though. :) Maybe if I get the strong urge for a certain color(s) I'll consider the resin sticks.

It's so pretty in your hair. The advantage of soft fine hair. Every updo is so neat and easy. :) I tried that before it's all floppy and lopsided on my head, because my hair is slippery and stubborn.

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I'm sure glad I found it because I just want to express my excitement for an order I'm going to place in this shop :D
I saw these sticks (http://www.etsy.com/listing/112908675/hair-sticks-confetti-theme-322) and they're just so fun-looking! I can't wait to order them (have to wait for paypal to process the money i transferred to it though, grr).

I also wanted you guys opinion about another pair of sticks i really like, these ones (http://www.etsy.com/listing/110870122/pale-green-hairstick-with-dark-green?ref=correlated_featured). I love the color, but I'm not sure how it would look in my hair, though I always feel that greenish colors look pretty good in my hair:
http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g453/Rianne1990/Haarfotos/Seashellbunmetketylo2_zps593e813b.jpg
http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g453/Rianne1990/Summer%20gift%20swap/DSCN6484.jpg

What do you guys think? Should I order the green one or be adventurous and order a different color? (if so, what color would you suggest?).
Or maybe be extra bold and order the confetti one, the green one and another color ;).
I hope I don't sound like I can't make decisions by myself (trust me I can), I just like to hear some suggestions and I don't really have anyone in real life to share these 'concerns' with :p.

Ok.. so I messaged him with the question if one of his sticks could be shortened (just to be sure). And the only response I got was 'yep...'. Is it normal for him to respond this way, or is he having a bad day maybe?
Or is it just me that I find this a strange way of speaking to a potential customer? To be honest I feel a little bit taken aback (is that how you say it? i'm not sure) and confused by it.

MegaMystery, if you don't feel comfortable buying from this seller, then don't. Just don't do it. You might also want to read the reviews that are already there on Etsy. See what they say. There's plenty of sellers on Etsy. I'm sure you can find one that isn't that abruptly short with his potential customers.

Yeah i got responces like that. I brought it up with him and its because he is responding from his phone. He is not so tech savvy lol but he has been very reliable with me. If your not comfortable with it dont do it but ive messaged him about a few customs and i always get a better responce once he gets to a computer.

I would message him again i was having an ongoing convo with him so sometimes i got phone replies and sometimes i got computer ones. If i got a short one id write him back to clairify since what i was writing about wasnt something he had in his shop i wanted to know if he could make an acrylic version of a wooden toy id seen.

I LOVE these purple sticks. Indoors, like look purple-black, like his pictures. Outside they glow. So pretty. And they don't move much in my hair. That's rare for me. Toys almost always slip around in my hair. I've worn them all day, walked a mile and did a few burbees (a bouncy work out that goes jumping jack, drop for push up, jump up to do a jumping jack to finish) and the hair is still secure. Maybe it is the shape? They are nice and fat.

I also ordered one of his 5 dollar colored wood sticks. He sent me two, my green one (drilled just like I asked) and a free purple one. :hollie: Banana because purple is awesome.

Personally i prefer acrylic. Waterproof, pretty mcuh drop proof, and unless you leave them in a hot car fairly indestructable. My hair is TB and i refer 6 1/4 to 6 1/2 inch sticks but some people find that a bit long and dont like the way it sticks out of their hair. You said you have alot though so you might need tha extra length. What the average size of your fnished buns? My nautilus is a tad smaller than a mans fist. If you lik half ups or have smaller buns maybe try a 5 1/4 - 5 1/2 inch no danger of accidentally stab/hugging anyone that way ;). In my mind if your growing out you want longer ones.

You can test run it by cutting down a pencil to various lengths to play with. I have a few wood sticks that were freebies and two i made and i like them but they feel more fragile to me. Never had one break or anything just a security issue for me. Good hard woods are zebra, purple heart, wenge, and red heart. Oak and walut are good but a tiny bit softer. Hoe that helps

No pictures for you. But I love this sellers acrylic hairsticks. In fact, I just bought 5 more of the 6 inch acrylics in the water colors. I'm close to having 1 of each color then i'll go back & buy a second set so i'll have pairs. Altogether I'd guess I now have about 20 of his sticks? The colors are excellent & these have become my favorites.

I just got one of the deep blue ones. It's gorgeous, even though it's got a lot of purple in it. If you get hairsticks from him & don't like them for some reason, it's pretty safe to assume i'll buy them if you decide to get rid of them ;) Then again, at that price you can also always turn it into a shower stick since they are waterproof.

There are some holes etc near the joins, like little air bubbles, but they don't seem to snag at all.

I'm really disappointed in this hair stick. On the listing it says:

I mill these hair sticks from an acrylic blank, shaped them 7 inch long by 3/16 wide, then sand them 4 times and then buff them into a perfect shine.

However, the one I received is very rough and seems unfinished.

I sent him a message asking if he'd sand and polish it further and if not, I'd like to return it. We'll see what he says.

I got some acrylics from him that weren't finished, either. Really rough and chipped at the ends. I decided not to bother sending them back because it's too expensive for me. I will stick with Ead and ONN and Lady Idun in future.

That roughness is really odd; especially it happening to both of you :( Eric usually gives his sticks a really nice glossy finish. I have quite a few of his, and I like them just as much as my Eaduards and ONNs. (Eric's sticks are a bit thinner, though.)

He was very nice about it. He said it must have slipped past him. He said to return it and he'll finish it and throw in another. So I'm happy.

He seems nice, so two_wheels it couldn't hurt to see what he'd say about fixing yours.

That's nice of him. I hope it turns out well, I'm sure it will- I have a very happy feeling about most sellers on etsy. I think in this case it's really not worth the extra cost of me sending it back to him and them him sending it back to me. Perhaps there was a batch that wasn't quite finished or something, I can imagine how it might happen.

Well I got my stick back and it's smoother, but it's still not what I was hoping for. I guess I'm used to Ed's and Lady Idun's smooth, shiney, glassy finish. This one is still pretty dull but at least it's not rough. It's usable and it doesn't snag or anything. Here it is.

That said, I don't think I would purchase from him again. He sent a shredded money stick for free and it's about as rough as the red one was the first time. I think it will be my in-case-of-emergency/purse/car/beach bag stick.

Scarlet Heart that's good to know. With the smooth as glass finish that sellers I have bought from (Ead, ONN, CMW), I'm pretty sure anything less wouldn't cut it for me.

Alumilite is more of a satiny/duller finish than acrylic, yes. I rather like it. Sorry I didn't click that you guys were talking about Alumilite - I thought there was a problem with his regular acrylics :)

Found him to be a super fast shipper (two days) and very easy to work with and very nice. Let's just say I have more things favorited...red things this time...
Stunning! These sure look gorgeous in your red hair.
I'd also need extra long sticks so its great to know he makes 7 to 7,5 lengths.
Thanks to all of you for some action shots.
I'm seriously considering getting some of these.

I sent him a message asking if he'd sand and polish it further and if not, I'd like to return it. We'll see what he says.

I only just realized, I bought the 3rd of those 3. The package hasn't yet arrived. He did let me know that there were problems with the batch, so I am prepared. I consider it very truthful to let me know beforehand!

Just an update. I sprayed a clear gloss/laquer on my red confetti and money (alumalite) sticks and they look much much better. This (http://www.amazon.com/Krylon-6-Ounce-Crystal-Acrylic-Coating/dp/B001K65K26/) is what I used. They're still wet, so no pics, but if I remember when they're dry, I'll take some.

Stabilized corn with purple alimilite. I'm in doubt if I shall call them "purple corn" or "purple octopus". Purplthulu, perhaps? (The corn-bits look like tentacles, well, at least when you have my weird imagination.)

These are much, much nicer in person. So much swirl going on! So much depth! They remind me of ...small, beachy islands in blue water. Like the kind you see on computergame maps. They'll be called my Pirate Coasts. If anyone can come up with a better name (cheesy is always better), please let me know.

http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu46/Marjokei/LHC/IMG_20140717_162222_zps1f70181f.jpg (http://s632.photobucket.com/user/Marjokei/media/LHC/IMG_20140717_162222_zps1f70181f.jpg.html)
This one is smaller, and square. There's something different going on on all sides of this stick, there's two types of wood and 4 colors of alumilite and several different swirls in this stick. The side you see here is baby blue swirly with a LOT of really tiny bubbles that look like glitter and dots of wood. It didn't really snag my hair, but to be shure I capped it in clear nail acrylic and now it's smooth like a toddlers' behind.
http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu46/Marjokei/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20140717_173448_zpsf7bbd076.jpg (http://s632.photobucket.com/user/Marjokei/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20140717_173448_zpsf7bbd076.jpg.html)
This is SO GORGEOUS. Look! That burl! *swoon* I have an awesome retro pencil skirt dress that matches the green in this. (I also have a spare 10 lbs that doesn't fit in that dress. Ooooops)

Aren't they unusual? So nice! I have read about the issues some of you had with these sticks, and I'm glad I knew about it beforehand, because now I wasn't disappointed. I am very peculiar when it comes to my sticks anyway, so I tend to do a lot of finetuning on almost any sticks I receive. Sometimes it's necessary, most of the times it's just so they feel more like they're mine. So, now I'm happily sanding whatever small snaggies there are (not very many) and buffing the alumilite a bit (just because I can) and sharpening all points (because I want them ridiculously sharp) and oiling all the wood bits (so they smell all castoroily) and filling two small holes with clear acrylic (so my whole office smells like cheap nail salon).
But in case anyone wonders, there's really not much finetuning to be done. Except the points, but that's just me wanting to have some anti vampire weaponry at hand at all times.

And so cheap! Not expensive at all! Especially since I've never seen this unusual wood-resin mix with any other seller. And Eric was really nice, gave me a freebie, shipped quickly, kind convo's.... yeah, I'm very very happy with my sticks. :)

Yeah, I just cleaned out my Photobucket yesterday, and pobably deleted the images of these sticks too. What a nice sticks! Especially the glittery greenish one, so very cheerful! I found he has some really cool swirly colors up in his shop recently, that seriously tempt me.

...Also, this is a bit of a controversial seller, which is probably why there are so little responses, but, well. He might have had dubious ethics in the past, I dunno about all that, but I mist say his sticks are really cool. With the custom mixed colors, and the wood/acrylic combo's. Just wanting to put that out in the universe.

^^i love that one!

i've bought two sticks from this seller (Crystawni's clear resin and blue enabled me), i like that he has interesting looking 7 inch sticks now and then. One of them did need some work, it was a bit snaggy toward one end but it wasn't hard to fix and the price was fair. What i don't like is how he lists a bunch of sticks in one picture and you can see they're all different lengths, but he doesn't specify what the actual lengths are. I contacted him about a few when i made my order and they were all sold, which isn't indicated in any way in the listing. I can see myself buying from him again (i really like the clear resin sticks with stuff in them, for lack of a better descriptive) but it will only be from the single stick listings.

I stand amazed at reading responses of non-action. If someone wrongs you do you never respond IRL either?

Always ALWAYS file with Paypal. They are there to protect your money, you got a bad product and you should get a proper product for your dollars. And ESPECIALLY if the seller is harassing you, that is extremely bad behavior and should be stopped. Take action, let other people know, let Paypal know so they can punish this guy for his wrongdoings so this stops.

I received an order from him today.

There were five sticks I wanted to order, and he told me to order four, and he would add the last one I wanted as a free gift. So I thought, awesome! :)
Anyway, the four I wanted are there and look beautiful (a couple of imperfections on one, but nothing major).
However, the 'free stick' is not what I asked for at all. It is quite long, which is awesome, but otherwise I really don't like it (it has a few unfinished bits for starters, which wouldn't be obvious whlst wearing, but makes me think this stick was a cast off; and I'm not a fan of the colours but then I can be picky and it is a free gift).
So I'm not sure what to do. I technically didn't pay for that stick, but I thought he was adding as a free stick the stick I really wanted (a curly yellow & green) - so whereas I don't want to look at a gifted horse in the mouth and don't think it is something worth complaining over or sending back, I'm not sure what to put in the review.
I feel I can't complain about a gift but... I'm confused!

Well, I have bought sticks from him before, when I didn't know yet what was going on. And to be honest I LOVE my sticks I got from him. Even though yes, I had to sand a few of them. I usually sand stuff extra smooth anyway, you see, as I can be picky. And I love the wood-resin combo's hhe makes, and the home-cast resins.

So, I am very ambivalent when it comes to HSnM. Bad business practices? Apparently. Hit and miss finishes? Yup, for sure. But also: awesome resins and very affordable, and he's been really nice to me. I'll readily admit I still follow him on Etsy, and if I didn't have so many sticks already I'd have bought some of his new sticks, I think. Because the colors and the fusion between wood and resin is awesome. :S

Well, I did leave negative feedback, and today I notice he's emailed me twice. Once to say I should ship it back for a refund and change my review, and once to say my having not responded is obviously an attempt at "character assassination". He also told me it looks unfinished because there are cones in it and you can't fix cones (not the case). While I am displeased, I don't think it's OK to change my review even if I'm fully refunded. I'm reviewing both the product and the customer service. Both, I feel, are not good. I don't check my email constantly. I don't think it's OK to accuse your customer of trying defame you, or whatever, simply because she didn't check her email in a desired time frame. At this point, I'm attempted to edit my review, mention the accusation (slap in the face), and give him 1 star instead of the 2 I gave him. I know I shouldn't care, and I'm being overly sensitive, but to accuse me of purposely trying to assassinate his character... Ouch. I don't know what to do. Do I respond? Do I ignore? I think reviews should be honest, not coerced.

Alaska98 and DreamSheep thank you for leaving honest reviews regarding this vendor. While I use information from the forums to help decide where I spend my money many others do not. There are many choices when it comes to acrylic stick makers. Hopefully your reviews will help an unsuspecting buyer make a wise decision. As much as I like his sticks, I think you are completely justified in changing your feedback to one star and update it with the annoying email info. He really as to learn that thise things do not fly well with customers. So far, he's bullied some people in changing their reviews and thus he gets positive reinforcement for his harrassing, which is stupid! This is what the review system is for, so slap 'im.

Or leave it as-is, if it gives you a sore stomach. Which I would understand. As for the finishing of his sticks, I have gotten them to Eadshines with a lot of nail buffering and then polishing cream, so that cones don't shine is just not true. His prices are low, so I don't mind the less than perfect finish (which I would NOT if his sticks were more expensive) but buyers should know. Or he should up his prices, and polish more. Or, more likely, use more sanding steps. Those big grooves that are in his sticks are there because he goes from coarse to fine with too little steps.

Well, i wish i had seen this thread a couple of months ago.
Before I ordered.

But I didn't, and I bought two sets of sticks. One blue and white right out of the photo on his Etsy site, and one "black with minimal white," that he said he would custom mix for me. The blue and white set came out coloured just as pictured, but they're a little wonky in the shape and they came with visible sanding scars. I was able to buff those out, and they hold and look nice in my hair. The custom coloured "black with minimal white" sticks... Well, the color came out weird. They're basically grey, rather than black and white, and they did not come finished at all. Again, sanding scars, but also they came dull and literally lacklustre. I was able to polish them up as well, and they hold well. They don't really stand out in my hair, because they're not a bright color and my buns eat up their length, so I don't worry about how they look.

Overall, the price was good, but I won't be buying from him again.

In fact, yesterday I placed my very first Edouard order!

Sorry DweamSheep. That seems to be his MO with negative feedback. IMO the true measure of good customer service comes with how you respond to customer concerns and complaints. His is definitely failing.

I can't stand a bully. I'm tempted to go back and leave negative feedback for the sticks I bought last summer, just to give him a piece of my mind if he contacts me about it. But my rational side knows that's kind of ridiculous. But it's still tempting.

Honestly? I think you should change your review. I had a similar issue with Morgan's Mane because I only gave her three starts. I should have gone back and gave her one of two, but I didn't even think about it. I would have written more in the review had I been able to, but it will only allow so many characters.

My experience with HairStickNMore was okay. I left a four star review because it has some barely noticeable scratches on the stick, but then he offered to redo it for me so I changed it to five stars. He did not ask for me to change it. I'm sorry that other have had a bad experience with him. It makes me not want to buy from him either now that I have read all of these reviews. :(

January 15th, 2015, 10:20 AM
I explained that four stars is not a bad review (4 stars is I like it, 5 stars is I love it - I feel 5 should be when everything is perfect with no issue), and I think he understood.

Just to chime in to those previous in the thread and those who may be in a similar situation, never be afraid to voice your concerns or leave a non-5 star review! How else are potential buyers supposed to know whether said vendor is worth buying from?

I was admiring some of this guy's work before but could not find enough stuff that I really liked to get the most out of the shipping cost. After reading all the complaints in this thread, all I can say is yikes - I definitely won't be making any purchases from this seller, ever. He seems very arrogant and unwilling to own up to any problems with his workmanship, and reacts to complaints in a totally unprofessional and inappropriate manner. It sounds like some of his stuff is legitimately good, but he refuses to discard or try to fix the stuff that doesn't turn out as well and tries to sell it anyway, which is very inconsiderate and dishonest.

Not terribly surprised that there has been no activity in this thread for almost a year...

I have 3 sticks from this seller; they were my first hair sticks. I have to say his work is inconsistent and not perfect. I ordered three sticks all 6 inches, and one is 5 1/2.. they have minor scratches on them and one stick is actually missing a chunk (which I painted over with nail polish). Since they were my first ones, I wasn't too concerned, but I wouldn't really recommend them unless you're willing to take a gamble with quality. I didn't have any problems with harassment but he wasn't very friendly to communicate with.

I have only made a few sticks of my own, just as practice and experimentation, definitely not to sell or give away. If I were to make sticks to sell though, they would absolutely not be allowed to go out the door looking like what people in this thread have described and posted photos of... if the shape, finishing, or some other detail did not come out right, I would refine it until it was up to standard, or it would go in the discard bin and I'd start all over again. I simply would not have the heart to take someone else's money (regardless of how little or how much) for an item of poor quality. If I unknowingly sold someone a defective item, I would be very ashamed of myself and immediately be giving a refund and/or a free replacement, as well as profuse apologies. An honest maker who truly loves and cares about their work takes responsibility when they make a mistake.

You can see in the pictures that most aren't finished properly. There was a mint mesh pair in the shop that was especially bad - if you look at the tops they're uneven and covered in fluff, so I'm assuming they're sticky. No effort whatsoever.

June 19th, 2016, 05:26 PM
There's a pair he has up called "Glacial Streams" -- not only are they uneven but the top of one of the sticks is stained. Anyone who showcases such workmanship as if it were fit for sale is not someone I would buy from.

Instead, I got mine from Eaduard on Etsy. Many of the same colors, but overall excellent quality.

He's been known to bully people into editing negative reviews. I've found the maker-specific threads here at LHC (like this one) give a more accurate view of a shop. The shared experiences here of this particular shop are why I stay clear of it. There are so many acrylic options available this one isn't worth the risk for me. :blossom:

Does anyone here have sticks of the same color from this seller and EAD? I bought a blue topaz water a while back from him and now I want another to match it and a pair of mint water sticks. Since the shipping increase it's no longer worth it to me to buy from him so I'll be ordering from EAD. My question is do you think the blue topaz sticks will be close enough to match/ look like a pair?

truepeacenik
October 20th, 2016, 05:50 PM
Rowdy, the acrylic stock will be identical.
I'd say Ead sticks might be shinier, as he has a great polishing routine, but not enough to make them mismatched.
I have two...eggplant?...sticks, one Ead, one from Rich at ONN, and they function beautifully as a pair, even with slightly different barrels and tops.

There are slight variations from acrylic batch to acrylic batch even when shops buy from the same acrylic maker. Kind of like a thumb print, no acrylic blank is just alike. I didn't realize this until I purchased partners for my singles, all Eads. The new partners are 'off' ever so slightly from my originals. Really only a seasoned hair toy addict would notice. Pairs weren't a necessary until recently for me. Now that they are a necessary for me I know better to buy pairs going forward. Generally a pair is cut from the same blank so they're a perfect color match.

Just stumbled upon this last discussion and wanted to chime in. So I bought several sticks from him last year. All single sticks though because I find one will do the job. His sticks are thicker than Eads, which I liked. All the ones I ordered were perfect and they are what I use exclusively when I travel. The service was fast and the order was correct. I did not leave a review at all as far as I recall so I can't comment on him being defensive about less than 5 stars. However, I will say that I've had this happen with other makers on Etsy that others LOVE. I have also seen less than professional behaviors from other Etsy vendors as well; lest we forget the histrionics that woman, Ravencroft, who made the moons and all the back and forth with her harassing other makers and customers. She turned me off so bad 'til this day I don't own a moon made by her not even from the swap board.

I've heard very negative things about Eaduard's customer service, but I have never had a problem with him. He is a bit laid back and maybe that might rub people the wrong way. I also have purchased from Rich from ONN and had 1 very pleasant experience and then another where I was on the waiting list for about 7 months without a follow up. He then went on break and I had no idea what was happening with my order. I was able to order what I wanted from a competitor in a much more timely and well communicated manner. So for me, that shop is a mixed bag.

Another vendor and I got started on a really bad foot because I had the same thing with the star rating happen as well. Gave them 4 stars and got a message refuting my review, which annoyed me to no end. This is a highly praised and well loved Etsy maker on this forum and for maybe the last year or so was considered the gold standard in their trade. I decided to reach out to them again recently and take another approach. I did manage to smooth things over and get what I wanted and an effort in craftsmanship truly deserving of those 5 stars.

All I'm saying is let's be mindful that some of these shops are people's livelihood and there are 2 sides to every story. Not everyone has the customer service personality to deal with complaints objectively.

I have bought some of these sticks. They arrived quickly and I didn't notice any scratches. They are a bit thicker than the Eaduard sticks that I had. Last time I ordered 3 and he sent an extra free stick. I did not rate the product or service and he didn't contact me about that. He did respond quickly to a couple of questions I had. Out of a total of 6 sticks ordered they were all fine......the 7th free stick is a wee bit rough on the tip and could use some smoothing.

Maybe he is trying to do better?

truepeacenik, thank you for the other shop names. I wanted some backup shops. I had just tried to order more of the Eaduard sticks and found that he had closed his Etsy shop.

I can personally say I’ve had excellent experiences with both sellers. They’ve both shipped in a timely manner, communication was great, and I was very pleased with the products delivered.

I use the hairsticks in a very similar manner: 1) to exercise with, because they don’t have sharp or pointy ends. 2) to go with Flexi-8/Lilla Rose. I like plain hairsticks paired with them more than those with fancy ends.

I've been trying to wait until I've gotten some selfies for these before posting this, but cannot seem to motivate myself to do more than half hearted attempts that are just too dreadful to post.

I ordered two sets of the buy 3 get a 4th free less than 5 inch sticks. I chose:

2 #6 Blue Topaz
2 #10 Cool Mint Water
2 #17 Fractured Glacier
2 #33 Sapphire Water

I also snagged two ovals.

https://i.imgur.com/zZ9oeiyh.jpg

Every single one of the sticks has a ring of scratches on them at a spot that is approximately one inch from the end. It is superficial and doesn't affect the usability of the sticks, they still slide in smoothly but with a hair of resistance. Most of the scratches aren't visible to the eye, unless you are looking at them super close and critically. I will probably do some refinement on them eventually, I already have most of the materials. As for the 5 inch and under part, the sticks are all almost 5 inch on the dot. Each pair matches pretty well together. Some of the ends have a flat spot to them, another thing to fix when I refine them. As for the ovals, they too are missing that smooth as glass finish but are smooth enough to use without any problems. All together I am actually really pleased with this purchase, especially after reading the posts in this thread. I took a risk and it paid off. The length of the sticks are perfect for me and I just love the colors, well except the yellow with the pine cones, but couldn't resist the pine cones. "I've got pine cones in my hair!" :silly:

Those sort of were the complaints early on, and the way the seller reacted to them (hostile) as well. Not willing to work with anyone, not willing to fix anything. That's what got this seller a bad reputation in the first place. Now maybe some of you aren't going back into the thread and reading all of this, but I've been around enough to remember what the issue was. :flower:

What is there to fix tho? It's not like the sticks don't work if they have a scratch. Obviously his behavior wasn't appropriate but honestly what was he supposed to do? You legit can barely see them anyway.

Would anyone really bother to pay to ship them back to be "fixed" for something so small?

FYI: I heard of someone who bought the ovals; one with the cones and another with acorn tops inside, and both over time (@6 months to a year) started to snag hair and eventually snapped :(

The materials didn't bond well, and with use they loosened up out of the acrylic; the sticks became brittle and broke.

The other sticks were well polished but the ends were not formed into a nice shape or smooth.

They had heard about the negative reactions from him in the past, so they didn't bother to contact him, but won't buy from his shop again.

So I just finished writing out reviews for those purchases. Gave him two four star reviews and one three star. Saying that while I love the sticks that they needed additional refinement, that I would do myself. He sent me a message before I even finished writing the third review.

He told me that he had a heart attack and had to get his wife to send out the shipment, so didn't get the chance to run the buffing wheel over them one last time. Also told me to grab some 1500 grit sand paper and that would smooth them out. Isn't 1500 a little low? I know I have 1500 somewhere around here, and a few higher than that as well.

He also said that he'd throw in a stick or two with my next order. I can see there being another order in the future since the sticks are nice, they just need a little polishing.

Groovy Granny thank-you for telling me that. I think I'll put an extra layer of protection on my ovals then. I was just going through and re-reading some of the posts here and now some of it makes more sense, since all the pictures that used to be in this thread are missing.
