I'd do the moisture. I once stripped my hair using baking soda, and every single day I did an SMT or plain conditioner hair mask, then applied oil. It took 2 weeks before my hair returned to normal. I hope yours doesn't take so long.

If I'd done that I'd do a heavy overnight oiling with any oil of choice. EVOO is always good as is coconut oil. Then I'd make up a nice rich batch of SMT and use that to CO out the oil. I would lightly oil the length after each wash and I'd do CO washes. I don't know about your hair but mine can't be over moisturized and I've never put on so much oil that a CO or an SMT couldn't get it out. I think I'd damp bun it for a while in the daytime.

Leaving in some conditioner with oil over it helps me a lot. I like to condition with very moisturizing conditioner and a heat cap for about an hour at least, then rinse and leave-in a good moisturizing conditioner with coconut oil over it to help seal it in. I do the leave-in and coconut oil every time I wash. It shouldn't take long to get better :hugs:

I'm just thinking that if you washed it with clay and it feels coated then maybe theres clay residue which would make it feel nasty. Plus i'm not sure about your clay specifically but i think most tend to be quite astringent and therefore drying which could be hampering your efforts.
I'd try a soak in a bath tub chucking in a can of coconut milk, a bit of oil, some honey and vinegar.....just thats what i found works nice....then soak your hair in that which would give some much needed moisture but also hopefully would soak off any residue.....then do a moisture treatment like an SMT then heavily oil it for a few days keeping it up and misting, re-oiling and back in a bun. Coconut oil is a good choice for that as it doesn't completely prevent the moisture being absorbed into the hair.

I have always had good success with an overnight oil treatment....my choice of oil is coconut oil left in for at least a day and that seems to do wonders for me.

I now have a very clean house, watched a movie AND read a book!
There's always a silver lining if you just look, huh! ;)
