I'm looking to swap only this amazing bloodwood/ maple Ravenscroft moon. It's a 4 inch, and it's overpowering my buns. I really need a 3 inch. Anyone want to trade? I'm in the US, so shipping may be a concern for worldwide. Let me know what you think.

Very tempting! Too bad I only have 4 and 5+ inch moons. hehehe. I can't wait to see who you trade with though.

Maybe an action picture will help those people with three inch moons interested in upgrading get a better perspective in what they are getting.

I am really sorry it didn't work out for you.
Hopefully, these will help somebody make their mind up about it. :)
(Please excuse the messy end-of-day French braid...)

Omg, where are all the 3 inch owners out here? I wouldn't pass this out because it is such a good deal to be able to upgrade to a bigger moon for almost for free. I would certainly buy this moon if Wildcat Diva ever decides to sell it. I would of thought for sure this would of been gone by now, well maybe if she were selling it.

Kamir0 you did an excellent job with the action pics! Cheers to you for doing this. :beercheer:

I have a 3" moon with a star dangle, one of her first ones. I was going to sell it but I like the one you have and in a couple years may actually be able to wear it! I know, you want pictures, let me see what I can dig up. Here it is, sorry for the poor quality. Wood on other side is slightly lighter. 3" tip to tip.

Oooooh that looks so nice KDaniels! Is it Walnut? I am on my phone now so can't see but a tiny pic there. I am thinking, thinking....

Kamiro, no worries. I love it and was only thinking about now vs the future. A 3 inch might be better for me now.

Yikes! Rowie is interested, too. I was not aware so many people like these! Need to post some of my other toys...

If you have a bigger size with a star dangle I'd be willing to go for that instead of the three inches.

I have a green(!) 3 inch from Nightshade's swap that I would be willing to trade, but after seeing Kamir0's pictures of how big the 4" is...

I understand. There is a 3.5 size too that is out there too, right? I had forgotten about that as well! I did get the four inch to work... But it does indeed look big. I can't even think about a five inch right now. But if my hair was thicker maybe.... In like four years.

Hey the 4" I find not that big at all, and we are in the same length room thread (Apl to bsl)!

If I were to wear my bun much loose I can easily fill this 4 inch moon.:D

Ooh, I'm totally interested in a 4" moon. I don't have one myself, but I have a few forks and sticks for offer, including a Baerreis Finny in pink ivory that is absolutely lovely but just too short for me.

Any chance you might for for something that is not a moon? (I'm also totally open to offers from other people who have 4" moons! Also open to the possibility of buying rather than trading for a moon.)

Thanks, Blaze. I am really not wanting to give up this moon without having another moon to replace it.
I don't want to swap other items, but your fork does sound lovely.

I am also open to buying a moon if a swap wouldn't work out. Also this is a trilaminate moon which makes it a pretty special one. I am holding out for just the right one to swap with. If the right one doesn't come along I might just hold on to it and wait for my hair to grow...

That's weird... isn't it possible that you are just making it too tight? I'm asking because the diameter/largest size of the thing I made is 5" (well 4.8), except that it doesn't curl back as much at the ends so it's not a "moon", just a "banana". But based on that I must say I think I can go for a 5" and pull it off. (Also the FPL of my big forks is 5" and the prongs disappear in my bun if I want to, just a matter of what bun I make.)
I think it's really just the way you make that bun, no? Since everything else that's large you can pull off... I'd say keep it and keep practicing.

:scissors:

Keep in mind that, as a guy, your head is bigger so you can pull off bigger items.
My head is pretty big too though (~22-3/4 inches around measured at the forehead) and a 7 inch item would barely show from the front if I was wearing it perfectly centered at the back of my head...

Also, if the moon goes through the middle of your bun, then you have to measure from the middle of your bun out, rather than the size of your bun straight across (keeping in mind the moon will slightly "push" your bun open as you insert it).
Hope that makes sense...

You can't quite compare a moon to a stick. I can wear 7 inch sticks and sure as hell could not wear a 7 inch moon...
My moon is slightly over 4 inches and can get kinda swallowed by my bun if it's too loose, but 5 inches would probably be my limit, even if I were to grow my hair to flour length (although one may argue we would need to put this theory to the test ).

This is my 10 year old, very petite daughter with my moon in. It arrived today and my hair was wet.

Her hair is not quite APL.

It really does not look.very big to me. It is 4".

I would just worry WCD, that you would outgrow a 3" pretty quckly.

That said, there are some 3" moons on her site right now.

ETA: sorry about the picture size. No.idea how to fix!

Maybe, that looks great in her hair! Newsflash!!! I was able to get a 3 inch from Shirl's site this evening.
And y'all are convincing me to keep my 4" moon! Especially now that I have a 3 inch now!

I am lucky that I was able to get a very beautiful one. I have been checking her etsy store every half hour for days with nothing there. Always zero items, or just one reserved item.

But thanks to a very dear friend, I was able to catch right when they were posted and get the prettiest one, I think. So now I really don't need to search for a 3 inch moon anymore.
