Just in case you were interested, here's a tutorial teaching you how to tie a knot in your hair.

ROFLMFAO!!! Woah....I read the caption "the hair knot in all its glory" and I only heard sarcasm, that's pretty much right. Wow, this is an um...intresting little hair style...(and of course, I had to try it but alas, my hair won't let me look ridiculous (BSL hair but too thick to tie together at this length lol). So, credits to the writer of this article for creating a "knot" so pretty tutorial. (pun "knot" intended, I swear!):p

I actually have done some very cute buns with this hairstyle. Sounds ridiculous, but it's actually really cute. You do the knots big and loose so they're easy to take out. I oiled my hair first, so i don't think any damage(and this is on 3b hair)

Did you see this sad attempt at a crown braid? or "braided crown" (Which I spose it is) I think it look's even worse then the silly knot.

Now I see that my attempt of crown braid is not so bad compared to this :rollin:

Yeah, here's the thread about it. http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=97832

They titled it on Stuff the 'New Braid'. WTAF.

The model is blinking so much I can't even get through it :( seriously.

I have too. You can make a really cute bun if you do a bunch of loose knots in a pony, and then bun that.

There is a nurse where I work with approx fingertip length hair. Her usual hairstyle is a knot halfway down the length and another @ the end.

Huh.

I was hoping this would be the aphrodite knot. I love that one, can't wait til my hair is long enough to do it properly.

Lol I will comment on it. LMAO! Stuff is good for current(sp) events but definitely not hair styles!

Okay... the knot didn't really look dreadful to me, well, except for the just hanging there ends. Maybe if something was done with them? idk.

BUT that braid video?! OMG! That was one of the worst hairstyles I have seen! The poor girl looked like she was trying to blink out "help me" the whole time LOL :p

I thought the knot was kind of cool, actually. But I think it would've looked better to put the ends hanging out into a rope braid or something.

The "crown braid" was the most horrendous thing I've ever seen. Perfect example of a "stylist" who doesn't know wtf they're doing and completely mistakes ridiculous and hideous for 'edgy'.

I think it's not bad looking, but there is no hair product on this earth powerful to keep my hair in a knot like that. If I take a 1/4" section of hair, even dirty just-before-wash hair, and tie an overhand knot in it, it just unties itself.

That's the same thing I thought ... how can anyone's hair stay in that knot? Mine would stay in it for exactly 2.5 seconds :D

BWAHAHAHA!!!! I do something similar to the knot when Im washing my face and dont have a hairtie to hand. It wouldnt be my first choice of 'Hairstyle' ;)
That crown braid tutorial.... Wow. Between the gormless model, odd make up, annoying stylist and HORRIFIC hair, it made me die a little inside.

Oh my, that is just awful! I found it difficult to pay attention to what that 'stylist' was doing though, because I kept getting distracted by the model's eye-makeup and constant blinking. That white/sickly green eyeliner is not doing her any favors

Oh.... No.... I hate it, why would you do that? I also remember the thread about the 'new braid'. It wasn't even a proper crown braid!!

I don't understand how "professional" stylists get away with such lack of skill and such an ugly hairstyle (I'm talking about the braid hairstyle....the knot is okay but I agree with others that it wouldn't last one second).

The knot as an idea isn't too bad IMHO, but that particular picture isn't very attractive.
I've tried to make simple knots in a ponytail on occasion for fun.
They glide out even with bobby pins.

To me, both the "knot" and the "crown braid" look like a little child came up with them! lol I guess just because one is a hairdresser doesn't mean they actually know how to do hair.

You can't see them very well because my hair is so dark, but these are knots, done in a french fashion:

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=1988&pictureid=105282

They went in easily, came out easily, caused no more damage than a french braid would have. (Don't mind my messy backyard!)

I don't really like the OP tutorial it just looks so half done. Knots can be lovely! I saw someone mention the Aphrodite Knot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_30u_7KOAo) which I just loooveeee but it's polished, and finshed off and not just hanging there like a dead fish :p

Raven I kinda had to squint but the knots are lovely! I've seen a waterfall braid done with knots like that too.

In the OP the knot is alright, not sure about the ends though! I love the aphrodite knot though!

I'd try alien life form.

I'd try alien life form.Yes. Just yes. She looks like she has a mental disability. And I think it's due to the eye make-up. So retarted is exactly the right word.

Um, that's a pretty loaded and offensive term. You could say that her eye makeup looks like it was done by a 6-year-old, or that it's simply horrific, or like someone else said, from another planet, without insulting people with disabilities.

~Blaze"She looks like she has a mental disability due to her eyemakup" or "she looks like she has no legs due to her position". Same thing. And no way insulting to people with disabilities.

You can go too far when it comes to political correctness. Retarded is a perfectly valid medical term and I am using it in that sense. If someone choses to be offended by that then that's really on them.
