Hi Sarahlabyrinth! :waving:

It looks like you're using the thumbnail image in your posts. Here is the image in the post right before this one:

http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh582/Sarahlabyrinth/th_hairphotosAug2012015.jpg

It has the following URL:

http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh582/Sarahlabyrinth/th_hairphotosAug2012015.jpg

Here is the larger image, taken from the page it links to:

http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh582/Sarahlabyrinth/hairphotosAug2012015.jpg

Here is the URL of that image:

http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh582/Sarahlabyrinth/hairphotosAug2012015.jpg

If you look at each URL, you'll see in the first that it appends a "th_" to the file name, denoting Photobucket has made that its thumbnail image.

The page the thumbnail you posted to links to here:

http://s1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh582/Sarahlabyrinth/?action=view&current=hairphotosAug2012015.jpg

With your sharing settings, if you visit that page, there is a dialog box labeled "Links" with a couple of options which contain URLs:

Direct link
HTML code
IMG code

The easiest method for you would be to select the IMG code. From that page it appears like this:

http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh582/Sarahlabyrinth/hairphotosAug2012015.jpg

That is the code this forum software recognizes as inserting an image, so if you directly copied and pasted that into a post, it would show up like this:

http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh582/Sarahlabyrinth/hairphotosAug2012015.jpg

Hopefully this will assist you in your image posting. If not, please let me know and I'll be more than happy to provide additional assistance. :)

Your main issue, once that is resolved, will be resizing an image, as the original image is quite large.

Let me go find where I've mentioned resizing images in Photobucket. I'll add an ETA once I've found it.

ETA: Here we go. http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?p=2272171#post2272171

On the page my thumbnail links to, the dialog box only contains IMG Thumbnail -then the other guff (sorry, URL code)in the little box. ?? I guess that's why it keeps copying thumbnail size... I have been selecting the IMG code - but.....no luck yet. There needs to be a way to get the IMG without the thumbnail word next to it.

I see the following on that page:

http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc11/mrgumball/PhotoJournal/SarahLabyrinthPBLinks.png

The direct link is usable when posting via the http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/images/editor/insertimage.gif button.

The IMG link is great when you just want to post the image without having to insert anything anywhere, as it uses the full-sized image with this URL:

http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh582/Sarahlabyrinth/hairphotosAug2012015.jpg

None of the above links are thumbnail links.

If I simply view an album, I can hover over images in it and select various link choices as seen here:

http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc11/mrgumball/PhotoJournal/PBAlbumImageOptions.png

If the options are not there, but that "Links" floating menu is there, you can click on the gear icon on it to go into your album settings and change it as you wish.

Yay! Now we are getting somewhere. Now could you tell me what size to set the pictures at so they are not QUITE so huge, hehe.

I like to generally stick the maximum dimension (width for landscape photos, height for portraits) somewhere between 400 and 600 pixels. Large enough for decent detail, but not so large as to utterly bog down those with limited internet bandwidth speeds.

Of course depending on the photo it's very easy to see the detail with a smaller image. Use at your discretion. :)
