My Mom has one of those! She used it with some big fat curlers to loosen up her super long, tight ringlets into waves :D Probably doesn't work anymore lol.

You sit on a bench, put some water in a thing that turns it into vapor, and let it steam.
We also have one of those at my parents house, and I bet it still works even though it hasn't been used at least since I remember having a memory (wow does that even make sense?)

she used to do my dads little sisters hair in rags and sit her in it, i remember seeing photos! The funny thing is that when i google searched to try and find what i was imagining i typed 'hair dryer mushroom' because thats what it looked like and the first picture that came up was correct!
