View Full Version : Question about shampoo that warns of color stripping

I have been having severe shedding for the last month or so. It seems to be from my CO routine, because once I used Dessert Essence Tea Tree shampoo, the shedding reduced (though it's still more than usual for me). It also made my scalp stop itching.

But I'm worried about using it because it has a warning that says it could strip the color from color-treated hair. My hair isn't color treated, but could it still affect my color?

I doubt it would strip or alter your natural colour.

It can't strip your natural colour unless it contains peroxide.

No, I used their lemon tea tree oil shampoo and have no color change. Maybe it is slightly basic and lifts the hair follicle. That would release dye molecules, but it won't do anything to natural hair. Just make sure you condition well after.

YES. I have to be very careful with what products I use as some of them do in fact strip some of my nice rich black. I get so peeved when this happens!

Thanks for the responses! :flower: I went ahead and used it this morning. I conditioned a bit, but probably not as much as I should have. Oh, well. Next time! :)

ETA: Whoa, just saw your response, PinkyCat!!! I hope this doesn't happen to me. I'll try to use this product sparingly. My hair used to be a very rich mahogany color, but it's become ashy recently. I wonder if it's from products I've been using... (I thought it was my age. :o )
