I had DH take a few pictures before and after applying henna... for a while I thought I just couldn't upload them from the iPad, but after a turn around the site support forum I realized I'm not alone. So after reacquainting myself with Photobucket I now have some pics to share! :D

Natural colour, unwashed, in fluorescent light:

Day of first henna, after leaving it in overnight and washing in the morning and applying a generous amount of coconut oil to damp hair:

Bonus hairtoy pic (which is actually after the second henna, a week later... this shot has a serious red reduction going on as that purple shirt is really quite vibrant IRL)

I don't have any hair-down pics after the second henna application... I should get DH to take one now that the colour seems to have settled! :p

That looks lovely! It's a stunning sort of auburn color. It's nice that it isn't too RED red.

Looks so pretty!! Did you get any pinky tones in your hair after the second application? I did with mine and I LOVE them! Also your hair has such a lovely wave to it :crush:

Ah HAA! I can post this picture in my own thread! (I've been trying to find it a nice home...)

I have now done three full-head, overnight Red Raj henna applications with a small bit of amla. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. DH wasn't immediately sold on the idea of a third go (he really liked the colour after the second application finished oxidizing) but he changed his mind after he saw the new colour in the sun.

Also! My new flexi 8 which I just received in a trade on the swap board! :D

Contrast with my original colour:

Thanks!! :D I didn't get too many pinky tones with the second round, but I did get a few, especially near the temples. The third really amped up the burgundy as you can see from the pics. I need a pic in daylight, though.

Those waves are mostly from Spidermom's bun that stays. I think she has an article or blog post about it. I twirl my hair before wrapping it around my fingers. :)

Edit: this is the bun, held with a fork from Quecraft:
