No leave in humectants. I’ve never had a problem with them in a moist deep treatment for 20 minutes, but certainly never on dry hair unless it is...

Detergent only! I've made that mistake before..

Did you wash them with any fabric softener (even vinegar counts). Because then they will do that. You can only wash them in detergent. Nothing else!
