I've been around LHC a long time, and I don't believe that I've seen an article about this cleansing method. If one already exists, or if it has another name, please let me know. I'm writing this because it took me a while to figure it out, and I think it might help someone, especially newbies.
The Hybrid Wash combines the best of two cleansing methods: Conditioner Only (CO) and the Scalp Wash. CO'ing is the gentlest cleansing method I know, but it generally leaves my scalp looking flat.
My method is simple. I apply a generous amount of a light- to medium-weight conditioner to my length, ensuring that I cover all strands. I finger comb it through.
Then I shampoo my scalp with a gentle shampooo. There's a little section of hair at the base of my skull where the conditioner and the shampoo meet. I don't worry about it.
I clip my hair up while I complete my showerly duties. Then I rinse, rinse, rinse.
The end result is that my scalp is clean with some root lift and my length is clean, soft, moisturized and managable.
For the record, I have baby fine, almost straight hair, which is rather abundant.
I hope that someone finds this useful!
