Default Spring is Here Who is Lemon-ing it Up This Year?

Today was the first read day of sun I've got this year and my local Top Foods had an awesome 7/$1 sale on lemons so I grabbed 21 of them. I just did my first hair sun bath. I did 40 minutes on the back side and 40 minutes on the front side.

Who is lightening their hair with lemon juice + sun this summer? Let's share our stories and results.

I don't have any pictures but I have done it before if if done right it won't damage your hair too bad. I dilute it to about 1 part lemon juice 3 parts water and add a splash of melted coconut oil in it to keep it moisturized and protected.

Hmm.. I think it is only a good idea to do that very sparingly. Lemon can seriously dry out the hair so be careful ^_^'

I would, but it reminds me of the horrors of that 'Sun In' stuff of the nineties :O

Oh yeah thanks for the concern, no, I don't plan on doing it much just enough to get it a mild shade lighter because I keep my hair red with henna but my hair is pretty dark so just enough to make the red stand out more and I do honey treatments too. Thanks for your concern, I'm gonna do it only 6-7 times over the summer

I got horrible burns from going out into the sun last time I tried this, and no lightening at all - it is not worth the skin damage, in my opinion (all citrus are photosensitizers...)

I read somewhere to women used to lighten their hair with lemon, using big open-topped straw hats to shield their skin...I kind of want to try it

Yes I am VERY careful about protecting my skin with this.

To make sure to get optimum skin protection while lemon lightening I...
-1st Apply the lemon juice inside
-2nd Wipe away all the lemon juice from my skin with a wet towel and wipes
-3rd Apply sunscreen everywhere where skin is shows (ears, face, neck, close to hairline)
-4th cover my skin with as many things as I can (sunglasses, clothes, a towel on my face
    -5th re-apply sunscreen every 40-50 minutes

I haven't burned or gotten sun damage yet and I don't plan on it

I prefer honey treatments, slower but much less damaging! I am actually sat here with my honey and conditioner mask on my head!
