Angry growing out blue hair (picture added)

Well I normally don't post here, preferring to lurk in the shadows, but I decided that I would like some input on my current hair situation.

At the moment my hair is just grazing my shoulder and a lovely shade of midnight blue. I bleach the roots as they come in (April 13th roots, last full length bleach early January) and that's the only bleaching I plan to do as my hair grows out.

I wash once a week or once every week and a half by using the conditioner washing method, and I only use shampoo when I notice build-up (maybe once a month) or before I apply a semi-permanent (manic panic and similar).

I do not heat style or use many hair products other than a hask placenta protein spray treatment sparingly and occasional wash out oilings. If I'm feeling fussy I might use a leave in conditioner but that's about it.

My hair is fine but thick with the bottom layer being a few inches shorter than the canopy.

What I would like to get from this thread is some evidence that I can grow my hair long while still keeping the blue color I love.

This thread is mostly inspired by my recent short hair urges that I'm trying to keep at bay.

Please inspire to keep up my hair journey, thank you!

edit: Here's a picture of my hair.

You should try to talk to annamoonfairy. She has gorgeous, hip (tailbone? classic? I can't quite remember, but it certainly is long!) platinum blonde hair. I recall her saying somewhere that she only bleaches the roots. The Bottle blonde grows long! thread might be helpful for you too.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/wisely-chosen/ this lady always bleaches her hair to dye it different colors and used to have very long hair, like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/wisely-...57622992619091. I think as long as you take care of your hair outside of the bleaching it can grow long with no problem

I got my hair to almost waist length with being bleached all the way to platinum blonde. So if you've got strong hair and you treat it right in every other way, I think it can be done. Wouldn't recommend no trimming though...

The main problem is the way it feels, but if you already have chemically lightened hair, and you don't mind that way it feels, then no problem!

    Best of luck.

It is absolutely possible to grow long and use bleach, as long as you do it right. If you bleach your regrowth only, never overlap onto your previously lightened hair, condition a lot, avoid heat and pamper the heck out of your tresses, you should be able to have long, beautiful blue hair.

    Totally possible

I currently have a purple streak thats bleached all the way from black to platinum.
I've previously had classic pink which wasn't very damaged even after years of no trimming. the only thing that really kills it is heat repeatedly over the bleach. Baby it and avoid straighteners and it's totally possible. Mines 25 inches now without a single split.

ETA: also regarding the comments about the way bleached hair feels, mine feels the same as the rest of my hair.... The canopy is bleached or dyed chemical black, the underlayer is natural, it's all slinky in equal measure!
